    Not quite as hot as the previous sessions but a good evening nevertheless.
    Did you see the Dolphins by any chance? Without fail we always see them at Craster, occasionally under the boat which is always a sight to see. Never great for the fishing, however…
    Cheers

    Class video as ever. Thanks for them. Was wondering what the thinking is behind 25lb for a rotten bottom? Isn't it a better bet to go 15lb or even a little lighter? If there's weed, a fish caught up etc, doesn't 25lb just make it a harder job to avoid losing the lot? Would be interested to hear thoughts...

    • @fullcircleangling
      @fullcircleangling  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cheers Ross appreciate that mate.
      Rationale behind it is to try and still give myself a chance of getting the sinker back, whilst still only being at half of my mainline (50lb). I’ve found 25lb with a couple of hard sharp pulls will pop the sinker off. But you’re right, for absolute ease 15lb, I guess the 25lb gives a tiny bit more security if the sinker slips during casting🤷‍♂️
      Thanks for watching and commenting, always good to hear others views👍 tight lines 🙋‍♂️

    Regular 350 mile round trip to craster area,,, the harbours a tackel graveyard unless you drop it a few yards out from the south pier... much better marks around there though. No fail craster, better than some of the marks i used to fish round aberdeen once upon a time.

      @@fullcircleangling try the point ,,, halfway down and a long throw to 11 o'clock.. clean ground 20 pound line for distance, but busy weekends, or the black hole between craster and the point, right hand side of the small bay straight out don'tgo right, heavish ground but 25 pound line should pull-out the kelp. Can be a bit dodgy in a heavy sea.

    As you said you’ve got to be in it but that’s angling is there a reason sometimes you use a multiplier but mostly use a fixed spool cheers hopefully a big cod next outing 👍🥸🐶

    • @fullcircleangling
      @fullcircleangling  ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly Mick. Always tricky during those smaller tides. I’ll use multipliers when I’m fishing fast tidal venues, then fixed spool for the rocks when I need to Frank as fast as I can.
      Fingers crossed 🤞 same to you too👍 thanks for watching, tight lines👍

      @fullcircleangling  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Daniel. Yes fished it loads with lures during the summer, plenty of coalies, pollock, wrasse and mackerel and the odd codling.
      Haven’t fished it much during the winter but with a good sea on I’ve no doubt there will be the odd decent fish. Good luck if you do head out 👍 thanks for watching and commenting, tight lines 👍

    I too fished the pier as a lad David, never caught much but in those days it didn't matter, breaks my heart to see modern Craster now, full of holiday cottages, at least they've still got a great pub and cafe. It still amazes me that they used to load seagoing coasters in the harbour years ago? For those watching and who wish to follow Daves footsteps parking for visitors is outside the town and you have to walk in, you've been warned especially in the summer, they are dynamite on illegal parking believe me.

    If memories serves there is a big drop off 80-100 yards out as well as being really heavy ground. You don't see a fouled hooked sea fish very often, but they all count 😉BTW after your last reel review I had a look at the Aero Technium MGS XTD (buying the best I can for my retirement) and I have to say it's a cracking reel 👍

    Live abroad now and they eat rockling here... Now they say its fantastic but I have never eaten one myself.... Set in my ways I guess. Have my gear with me but fishing from the beach here on the Black sea... The rockling you just caught would be a specimen LOL

      @@fullcircleangling Sarafovo / Bulgaria 5 minutes from the beach... Been here 10 years... All my beach casting gear is here and I could open a shop with the amount I have... Its not easy to catch here and what they do catch they never throw back... I have had fish out and my best was a Turbot ... The reason was that I specifically looked on what fish are in the Black sea and I targeted the thing...Only took about 2 years to get one ... Now the fresh water fishing here is 2nd to none but that's not my thing... Mullet are the sea fish of choice here with Mackerel and Gar fish from the beach... Again not my fav to pull out... On the + side the weather is great most of the year... I miss the UK beach fishing and thanks for teasing me with the things I miss LOL

    Hey buddy great channel you have going on 👍 I'm not trying to sound like a knob but y use shock leaders on the proper rough ground there not needed and it really can ruin marks bits of 100 lb shock leader all over them,, as I say not trying to be negative and your certainly not the only one doing it but surely keep the marks clean 👍 cheers

    • @fullcircleangling
      @fullcircleangling  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Bert thanks for watching and commenting. Don’t worry it’s always good to get other peoples viewpoint, that’s what it’s all about. No offence taken whatsoever.
      You make a fair and good point. My personal rationale behind the set up I use is that in the vast majority of instances either my hook bends out or my rotten bottom snaps, it’s extremely rare for me to lose all of my leader. I also like a leader because it gives me a bit of extra abrasion resistance and, I’m not keen on using 80/100lb straight through, I’ve done it in the past and found that it catches the wind and hampers distance on those marks where distance is required.
      I’d have thought that these mega storms that we’ve had this winter will have cleared out the lost tackle on marks and effectively pressed the reset button, which will help us all.
      Thanks again for watching and commenting and tight lines 🙋‍♂️👍
