    I am a homeschooling mom of 4 boys, and I just enrolled to college this morning to earn my teaching degree! My prayer is to start online and then hopefully get my degree when my littlest starts school! Lord willing!

    I graduate in 2023, going into my junior year for getting my degree in early childhood education. For South Carolina, where I live, they have an early childhood degree, which is K-3rd and an elementary education degree which is 2nd-6th. I plan on getting both as they are essentially the same classes so after I finished my ECED degree then all I have to do is take a few PRAXIS tests and submit some documentation to the state and I’m then qualified to teach K-6th I can’t wait to finish!

    1. Student need focused feedback early and often and they should be taught how to assess their own learning
    2. The most effective assessment addresses problem directed questions that faculty ask themselves
    3. Course assessment an intellectual challenge and therefore motivating for the faculty
    help me to understand this huhu

    Hey, I came across your videos, and I love them; I'm a high school student, and I think I want to become an elementary teacher, but I was just wondering what classes did you take in Freshman and Sophomore year, were there a requirement of classes that you had to take? (You don't have to answer.)

    This video inspires me so much! I’m a freshman and going to be class of 24. I am super excited to be a teacher ahah. I am set to this dream and this just boosted up my confidence. Is the math hard for education or is it going back to the basics and touching ways to teach it? Thank you so much 😊. Love the vidoes

      I'm a senior math ed major in FL and have seen some of the math that general education majors need. Most of it appears to be nothing above simple algebra and geometry. For state licensing, the Florida GKE math portion (comparable to California CBEST), went up to algebra 2 and had some basic probability/stats, but nothing crazy. I think the majority of the actual math in the education major coursework focuses much more on basic processes like really defining multiplication, division, decimals, etc... more than anything. You shouldn't expect to need calculus or anything crazy from my understanding. Best of luck!

      @@alana3674 As someone who is in early middle school, math isn’t too hard. It is if something new then it could be difficult, but that would just most likely affect the student. Anyway the hardest i’ve ever done is is algebra, finding variables, probability, etc. It’s usually just things a long that line that can be “hard,” but for someone who is in hs I think you’ll do fine.

      It depends on where you live! I live in California and right now it’s super easy to get a job because there is a teacher shortage. I think the experience you get while getting your degree can set you apart. For example I’ve been a tutor all 4 years of college, so on my resume, I have a leg up then someone with no experience with children. Hope this helps xx

    How do your practicums work with your schedule??

    • @katiejenningsreads
      @katiejenningsreads  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      xoxofox232 great question! For the observations: our teacher gives a sign up page where we go on and sign up whenever we have free time. They are usually in 30mins or 1hour blocks and we need 12 hours in total. For tutoring: half of our class in spent tutoring and the other half is spend with our teacher in class. So tutoring is built in but we have to do observations on our own time! Hope that helps ☺️
