Sirehound was the only one out of the three where I had to reset (i was doing no deaths run) and if you ride on oatchi empress is extremely easy just don’t get too greedy
Sublevel 17 is why they added rewind time, solid contender for one of the series hardest. Also, the stuff you missed is Olimar's Shipwreck Tale, that mode is the go-to rebuttal to anyone thinking this isn't the best Pikmin game.
We can all agree that the effect of the Sirehound final phase is probably the deadliest thing in the entire franchise(second place electricity in pikmin 2), they instantly just disappear. That's why the Smoky Progg is and will always give PTSD to all pikmin players, including this phase
You can freeze the baldy longlegs when it's in the water This cave wasn't too bad for me since I had way too much spicy spray only reset during the empress bulblax fight and just ended up using 4 bomb rocks and a mine to take out 5/8 it's hp
This was a really fun watch, whenever you do the trials after beating olimar story please record it if possible, for me personally that was the hardest cave, at least in this game
I honestly only struggled in the empress bulblax fight, just because the cave was so tiny. I got crushed twice and lost all my Pikmin each time. Rewound time, beat her on my 3rd try. This game is something else
Dandori tip: Using Spicy sprays can kill enemies quicker than before, also using lighting shocks can stun enemies longer so you can rush empress bulblax easier. There is no shame in rewinding time cause they added it for newer players if they screw up their plan.
That empress fight was both annoying and a neat challenge to overcome, Since I'ma wuss and I reset, I think I did like 5 or 6 times on her.. Hehe, guess I need to improve my Dandori
I don't understand why nobody charges the final boss, it goes way faster, and does more damage than throwing purples And 100 glow pikmin can destroy him with a flash charge
Not even going to lie I ran past all those candy pop buds thinking I'd be good but nah that dog cooked like 3/4 of my pikmin with his electric bs this was also before I found out you could break the hair balls
so i didnt realize how hard that fight was supposed to be, i used lighting to sun her then spicy spray and just charged her and she died before doing anything i was doing a no death run for my first playthrough and items really help a lot, but now that i know the game a little better im gonna do all my furture runs itemless and see how hard this fight is
After dying a few times, I just threw 10 bomb rocks and killed her She was the only time I had significant losses, not to mention my first couple extinctions
I don't think there's ever been a Nintendo game that could so clearly benefit from a hard mode. Pikmin 4 is so incredible but the difficulty just isn't there for most of the game. You can just spam purple to win, as demonstrated by this video. I really hope they add DLC with a Spicy and Ultra-Spicy mode. Spicy can be enough for me, Ultra-Spicy for the best of the best that I know I'm not good enough for. They'd have to add restrictions beyond basic stuff like giving enemies more health (which to be clear they should do). Things I'd like changed for harder difficulties include: - A hard limit on the number of purple pikmin you can have. Increase their carry capacity as necessary so all treasures can still be carried. Let's say in Spicy mode you have a maximum or 20, in Ultra-Spicy a maximum of say 10. - A similar, but higher, hard limit on the number of ice pikmin, and/or increasing the time it takes to freeze enemies and getting rid of and nectar/spray from frozen enemies - Caves that give purple pikmin give way less, and caves can't be farmed for pikmin, only respawning after the 'original' pikmin die - Reduce the conversion rate of gems to glow pikmin - Restrict time reversal in caves. Make it cost sparkium and have a maximum cap per cave/day that scales with difficulty. Maybe Ultra-Spicy could ban it entirely in caves. - Make elemental damage more deadly. Spicy mode can have pikmin die to elemental damage much faster, and Ultra-Spicy even moreso, maybe even instakill - Nerf Oatchi significantly. He starts weaker, and the upgrades you can get for him are much less effective - Increase the sparklium cost of tech upgrades and items - SIgnificantly reduce the spawn rate of ultra-spicy spray, and maybe nectar. And have ultra-spicy spray not give pikmin flowers - Add more enemies to the overworld - Have enemies re-spawn in the overworld Pikmin 4 is already an excellent game, easily my GOTY. But making these changes in higher difficulty levels would be INCREDIBLE.
Something I would add is to have riding on Oatchi drain his health over time. That limits how you can both use Oatchi as a safe space as well as greatly nerf the Oatchi charge
it boggles my mind that enemies don't respawn in the overworld, the place where it actually matters (they do respawn in caves... after 100%ing it, when you have basically zero reason to ever go back there) Especially given this wasn't an issue in the other 3 games
not sure if you had the white or purple onion but to get them you need to finish olimars shipreck tale and then the cave and base camp which is unlocked after
We had exactly the same experience, only I rewound when the dog blasted over 80 pikmin with that green breath. My thinking was how generous the rest of the game had been up to then, it couldn't be insta death all over the floor at the last minute, how wrong I was.
You have beaten the smokey progg first try while I was suffering with 15 pruples and it was also my first pikmin game so I had a massive dandori issue... too many rewinds
For the baldy long legs if you had 10 ice Pikmin and didn’t lose any you could have actually froze the water he was in, kinda sucks you lost some to the smoky progg.
Not gonna lie, when I saw that ridiculous Empress Bulblax killbox, I disbanded all my Pikmin and took Oatchi to attack her. Hahahaha Every so often you gotta pull him away to feed him 1 or 2 bones. But hey, I didn’t kill any Pikmin. Also I forgot about bombs, that Sovereign Bulblax is waaaay harder without that trick. Because of all the water and sand, everytime he jumps, he lands and creates more water, then the rocks that come down do as well, and his roars send your Pikmin scattering into the… yes, the water. And then he generally jumps immediately after that. I loved the final boss, definitely the best final fight in the franchise. Fortunately I made a point not to hang around him when I saw that he roared, I just tried to be as quick as I could with sneaking up and getting his tail, but would dip and go to the other side of the arena when he got up and not hang around. Last playthrough I got hit with a snowball, it was hilarious to watch myself get pingponged around endlessly as I would break one snowball I got caught in and another would run me down before I could move. A literal snowball effect. Haha
Tip if you ever try a NO reset or a NO pikmin lost run for the final boss: in its electric phase, get rid of the fur balls with oatchi by chomping them. Also for the fire phase the fire furballs explode to create the shock wave of fire if you take to long to get rid of them.
@@Aqbrhino yup, sadly I bought so many bomb rocks thinking I would use them barely did, and I never used lightning till the last cave itsover powered and never EVER used the mine or tracking bomb or pikpik carrots so I wasted many raw material but I just need 100 more raw material to get the plucking whistle so it all worked out in the end
