Hi! I just bought SPL Vitalizer mk-3 t and it's fantastic ... What are your thoughts on me buying Elysia Xfilter but not mastering edition for mastering, do I really need that extra 5 or 6db of max.level input/output (the difference: mastering edition - regular and more precise control) for EDM music or I could get away with buying "the regular one". In another words would my quality of the audio drop if I don't use mastering edition in your opinion? Thanks ... p.s. I mix my music with very deep void in the mid's (on every track) so I can than push it up in mastering, so I'm afraid 5db of gain in mastering edition is not going to be enough in some scenarios and of course the price is higher. I thought the dynamic range is the main thing in this kind of devices (120db etc.), but there's always something that breaks the deal, always some technicality that makes you buy more expensive stuff because otherwise you're not on pro level ... :)) More headroom, 27db of headroom, what the f ... that even means in EQ device, you're not going to lift the level by 27db? :))
I have so many projects made with cheap Aira Gear recorded on their presets or in Ableton. I don't have a single song finished, not sure on how stems would work at this point. Does the mastering compressors have to come directly from the insturments or a should I just collect the stems recorded digitaly at -8db?
Mastering compression is applied post-mix, so either on the entire stereo mix, or on a summed signal from the stems. It can also be applied to individual stems if needed, but in my experience, stem mastering is more a question of getting the levels between the stems right than it is about applying processing to individual stems.

Really like your setup did you convert a loft space or is this outside your home?
