- In this Video my family takes a short trip to BELGRADE, SERBIA. We found out really quickly that this City is Massive and that to get to know all of its beauty, you truly need a lifetime. BELGRADE is very rich in HISTORY and extremely old. BELGRADE is also very kid friendly, our toddler loved it here, we all had a great time. The only downfall was the heat. The heat really hindered us from exploring the city, and even cut our tour of Kalemegdan short. The fortress is literally thousands of years old (so cool).
Belgrade, has an immense history, the capital city of SERBIA, boasts a rich and tumultuous history that spans several millennia. Its strategic location at the confluence of the SAVA and DANUBE rivers has made it a coveted prize throughout history. The city's roots trace back to antiquity, with the ancient settlement of Singidunum established by the ROMANS around 35 BC. This early urban center flourished under Roman rule, becoming a significant fortification and trade hub in the province of Moesia.
During the MEDIEVAL period, Belgrade's strategic importance grew as it became a key battleground between the Byzantine Empire and various invading forces. The city changed hands multiple times, witnessing the rise and fall of numerous empires and kingdoms. In the 12th century, the SERBIAN KINGDOM under the rule of Stefan Nemanja fortified Belgrade, integrating it into the growing Serbian medieval state.
In the 15th century, the Ottoman Empire, expanding its reach into Southeastern Europe, captured Belgrade in 1521. The Ottomans transformed the city into a major administrative and military center, with Belgrade serving as a critical outpost in their European campaigns. The city's role as a frontier town led to numerous sieges and battles, most notably the Siege of Belgrade in 1688 and again in 1690, when the Habsburg Monarchy sought to wrest control from the Ottomans.
The 19th century marked a period of transformation for Belgrade as it became the focal point of SERBIAN NATIONALISM and the struggle for independence from the Ottoman Empire. The city played a central role in the Serbian Revolution, which culminated in the establishment of the modern SERBIAN PRINCIPALITY. By the late 1800s, Belgrade had evolved into the capital of the newly recognized Kingdom of Serbia, and it underwent significant modernization and expansion.
The early 20th century saw Belgrade at the heart of the tumultuous events of the Balkan Wars and World War I. Following the war, it became the capital of the newly formed Kingdom of Yugoslavia. During World War II, the city was occupied by Nazi forces and suffered extensive damage. Post-war, Belgrade emerged as the capital of socialist Yugoslavia under the leadership of Josip Broz Tito, undergoing a period of reconstruction and growth.
With the disintegration of Yugoslavia in the 1990s, Belgrade experienced significant political and economic upheaval. The NATO bombing of Yugoslavia in 1999 left scars on the city, but it gradually rebuilt and adapted to the new realities of the 21st century. Today, Belgrade stands as a vibrant and resilient city, reflecting a rich tapestry of its past while embracing the future as a capital of a democratic and independent Serbia. #Serbia #Belgrade #Europe #europetravelvlog

yey sis !! ..glad you enjoyed Belgrade ! 🥰
Hval! We just need more time for sure.
Dobro nam došli opet ❤🎉🙋👋👋👋👍🤗
It was filmed quickly and briefly, but at 3:12, as far as I could see from the leaves and the trunk, the tree is a linden (Lipa in serbian). It is a common tree both in Belgrade and in Serbia, it is planted because it grows quickly and provides shade in the heat. Village women use it to make linden tea, although it is not recommended in urban areas due to pollution in big cities. It is not recommended to park the car and keep it for longer than 4-5 days under a linden tree because some sticky syrup is leaking from the leaf, so the windshield and the whole car is plastered when someone poured dissolved sugar on it.
Serbia this year 2024 is old 7525 year in old calendar
You are very nice and beautiful girl 😊😊😊Olways welcome in Serbia
Thanks for video ❤
very safe city for all people
Nice video..thats the very cute I mean about Karadjordje and First Serbian Uprising:)))He is our biggest hero in new Serbian History..I was born near place where was First Serbian Uprising..btw..Belgrade is one of the oldest city in Europe..Belgrade was made Kelts tribe Skordisci..after them coming Roman Empire and they give the name Singidunum..some connection with river Danube
You have to visit Zemun, the best part of Belgrade, best restaurants, food, people,
Next year we will have more time to spend here and we will have to visit all the recommended areas❤
we are😉
Trees are here called "Lipa" - in English that would be "Linden" - well known for its flowers and fragrance. Also it is used as a tea plant.
You just described when someone from Kragujevac first time go to Belgrade hehe
smrt Jugoslaviji, zivela Srbija
@@ssoull6547Смрт хрватској латиници у српском, наметнутој у Југославији од стране комуниста, живели српски језик и азбука! 😊
Those trees you were wondering about are called paulownia
This has been an excessively hot summer, likewise in almost all of southern Europe.
You should visit museums, shopping malls, Ada Ciganlija, Kosutnjak, Tas, Usce by the rivers... There a lot things for kids and families
@@majamaja3660 as I stated in the video, we did not have much time, but yes we intend to do all of this next year.
Fuck mails... there are 1000 other better places.
Good video. I am glad you liked Belgrade, for the most of it. Move from Kragujevac to Belgrade. It will be closer to what you are used to, but not the same. Still, with plenty of things to do and see, as well as international restaurants, etc.
We are going back to the US in a few days. Belgrade was wonderful, I would love to spend more time here next year.
Older part of Zemun near Danube river is very nice, Ada Ciganlija the Belgrade lake, Avala hill also
❤❤
What you meant when you said cable cars? Trams or Trolleybuses?
Yeah, its terrible being in Belgrade during these heatwaves. I hope that at least you have finally had your Starbucks coffee in Rajiceva shopping center.
Next year we will be coming in spring. Summer is just too hot.
@@The_regular_homeactually it’s more beautiful in fall. Spring is also great, but it can also rain quite a lot if you get unlucky. September and October are both very nice
Ovo je najtoplije leto u Srbiji, sledi put dodjite u maju mesecu. Beograd je najlepši u proleće
We will, thank you for the recommendation ❤
Lepši je tokom jeseni
🥰
I'm not sure that Belgrade fort was built in 279BC. There was some Celtic settlement there but they would not have built a big stone fort. I suspect that over time more extensive fortifications were built and extended and most of current structure is a few hundred years old built over previous structures.
Yeah, the settlement itself is that old and it was probably a wooden fortification. It changed many hands since then. Typically most European cities date back to Roman era.
Those walls aren't exactly thousands of years old, maybe a few centuries at most. There might be only few foundation stones left from the Roman era.
The trees are dud or mulberry. Sometimes they are in Serbia and the Adriatic oast as street trees.
@@AcikaB finally someone replied! I’m in love with these trees, they are so beautiful!
@@The_regular_home Mind there are many varieties. This one in particular has extra large leaves. I personally like weeping varieties
Drago mi je da uživate u mojoj zemlji... Da li ste putovali u Nišu Da ili Ne.
Mislim da ne. Samo Kragujevac odakle joj je muz i Beograd na jedan dan. Uskoro se vracaju nazad u SAD.
No, we have friends in Niš, we will go next year for sure.
Metro area is the largest area, maybe you ment urban area population.
Curently, Serbia is under atack of LUCIFER. Heat vawe from Sahara desert in Africa. So, temperature goes up to 40 desgrees. Usually, during summer, temp is 30-35 during day and 25-28 during night. In latest time lower. But this summer is a HEAAAAL. About city. Yep, lot of old communist and aristocrats buildings, unpainted, uncolored, i do not know how to say that. But, for me, lot of unpainted buildings goves a city special charm, not all but parts like Dorćol, Vračar, oldest parts of the city. If u like austrian architecture, my recomendation is to visit Nov Sad.
My recomendation is to use high speed train from Belgrade to Novi Sad and slow train from Lapovo(small town on the highway and rail Niš-Belgrade) and car from kragujevac to lapovo, 15km. It is a cheapest way. Also, u can use car, highway Niš-Belgrade-Subotica. Novi Sad is on that highway. TRAIN is must must cheaper then bus or car, this is a reason for my recomandation fo train.
Also. Belive me. If you compare Belgrade with London or Paris even Berlin. Belgrade si a cleaner city. Especially if u compare it with cities like Toronto, Vancouver, New York or LA or Philadelphia.
Unfortunately we get this heat every single year
Really, my entire family has said it’s just in recent years. Either way, it’s terrible
@@The_regular_home by recent years I’m guessing they mean the 21st century. I know that before 2000 summers were cooler but that’s true for most of the world
@@hi1is I hear may is nice. We will come earlier in the year next trip
@@The_regular_home yep May and September I’d say are the best
First city a build a kelts people 4000 b.c

1.7 million with all 17 municipalities.
Is it necessary to point out a normal state of the road in 2024? BTW, the road that cost 5 times more than in Holland, France...like every one of hundreds cases of coraption diquised as "project of national importance" 😡
@@shara-la8629 yes it is, in the states many of our highways aren’t this well kept. I made this video, felt like commenting on it. If it makes you that angry, make your own video… 🤣😂
@@The_regular_home Yeah, a completely irrelevant info.
I think It is a newer road, though. It is not really due to good maintenance.
Šteta zbog vrućine a baš si želela da obiđeš grad
Tito, you're out of your mind.
Congrats on the effort...but let's be real....Americans and history don't go well together.....the explanation and interpretation then looks more like a humorous entertainment program....I had a good laugh during the part explaining the openings in the wall and the archers...you are very humorous............I suggest that you don't do food videos either... where is the point of traveling so many kilometers without trying anything new and eating what you usually eat at home... it's just that certain people have limited mental capacity for very limited content, which they can produce
@@bojanpalink5471 I suggest you make your own videos Bojan… but let’s be real…No one would watch 😂 Perhaps you’d find my other videos as entertaining as this one. Feel free to watch, maybe then you’d know that I have been to Serbia multiple times, my husbands family and friends live in the states near us. I’ve eaten enough Sarma, cevapi, goulash etc to know when the a girl just wants a burrito. As far as mental capacity goes… the content that I produce is whatever_the_fuck_I_want… Ahhh America, land of the Free 😉
@@The_regular_home As we've seen lately, not so free anymore...a more accurate description would be land of limited mental capacity...or simply stupid.
That seems like a generalization, which is very common to do amongst the common… when your mental capacity is limited, one tends to “group people, places, events etc.. together” it very primitive, so intrigued to see one in it’s natural environment! Thank you Bojan. May enlightenment find you one day. 💕
@@The_regular_home You are smarter than Einstein and Tesla combined...however people don't like to hear the truth...they prefer someone to lie to them.
Profound. How does the sun rise every morning, when you are brighter than all?
