    The problem with this line of thinking is the idea that forgiving student debt is "giving away absurd amounts money." A very small portion of it would be, sure. But the overwhelming majority of student debt is interest.

    He is just one the guys on the fence of decency because one minute he says give to the poor and the next he doesn’t want to forgive student debt. Most students are from poor families and working their way through school and racking up debt. But we can give money to other countries and make weapons of mass destruction with tax dollars.     Willard Romney is not to be trusted. He has a superior being attitude that bothers me. He reminds me of two “male authority figure” pretenders from my boyhood: a gynecologist who considered himself an authority on everything and a Doctor of Education who fancied himself an historian. Both men had obvious defects but somehow were considered “respected members of the community”. Pardoning Trump is a colossal mistake. Ford’s pardon of Nixon was a monumental error. I hope Willard’s exit from public life is permanent.

    I think Romney is a decent man who does want the best for the country. I don't agree with everything he says and I think he understands many don't agree with what he says but believes that we can have disagreements without rancor. What I am troubled though is if he does believe that democracy is at stake and is fragile that is even more reason why those who have tried to undermine democracy should be held accountable. His argument seems to be that Trump shouldn't be prosecuted is on the basis of politics but if he does believe in principle then Trump absolutely should be prosecuted.

    This interview changers my mind on whether Mitt Romney would have been a decent president. Romney as president would have ushered in even more layoffs and corporate tax cuts, reduced infrastructure spending. Less money for libraries, teachers, cops , firefighters.
