- Ranking all of Bloodborne's Caryll runes in a tier list
Edit: Oedon writhe actually gives bullets on visceral attack and not death by visceral attack, it doesn’t change the ranking much since most enemies die when visceral attacked anyway
#bloodborne #gaming #tierlist
In defense of the defense runes; the stats on armor are every 10 def = 1% in damage reduction, so a 7% rune is equivalent to wearing an additional piece of 70 def gear.
thanks
i didn't know that
It definitely helps a lot. I'm on Ng+2 and clockwise runes are not good enough (at least the lower ones) even with 50 vitality, damage reduction does help a bit more
I believe there is actually a diminish return involved tho, it's 70 when you have no armor, but you get less value the more of said stat you have
Oedon writhe (+quicksilver bullets per visceral attack!!) carried me through the whole game and orphan of cos so it deserves an s-tier
Oedon Writhe is actually really good. You basically have infinite bullets if you parry + visceral perfectly.
One of my favs
If you can do perfect parry, you don't need more than 20 bullets.
@@mariodavidpalmacarcamo1709depends on the build, Hunter tools use bullets and bloodtinge builds can dish out good damage with bullets
@@jeremyjoyner9796 thats a good idea, but maybe is a little difficult
😎
Thank you, I've been looking for someone looking at all the runes so I can see what I missed.
Blood Rapture, Claw-mark, and Oedon Writhe is magnificent if you want to top off your health, are stingy with ammo, seek to demolish enemies, and are a visceral attack enthusiast. Use those on Orphan of Kos if you like getting full health and a ton of ammo back, Orphan of Kos is extremely generous.
Great and very useful video 🎉
Thanks for your time explaining the Runes.
Hope you do a guide video about the chalice dungeons.
The defense runes are actually pretty decent. In cursed dungeons, you have basically a one shot-hp without the proper defense even with one rune of clockwise metamorphosis. So in that situation, defense would probably do you better. My favorite type of defense is physical/blunt because it's a life saver against slam attacks of bosses. Their usual otk move can make you survive a small hint of HP. Meaning you don't have to reset as much.
This is exactly how I feel about any +HP runes in BB… They aren’t worth anything as far as a realistic health boost, but they might allow you to survive a final hit & escape to heal yourself… But for those rare moments I’d much rather fill those 3 spots with things like extra stamina, bullets, vials & echoes
Hunter also makes your stamina regen after a quicker time its really good
Good video!
It's clear you dont do cursed dungeons, clockwise metamorphosis rune is obligatory to use there and in the base game, dlc and pvp is top tier; the phys. defense rune is also very good as it acts like a 5th 70 def armor piece; hunter rune is the only (permanent) way of get your stam regen increased so instantly s; I'd put the milkweed run in s because in cursed dungeons theres a hidden multiplicator in the discovery stat so if you put any rune that increase discovery it will be multiplied by thousands so you can put milkweed and dont have to waste a space with eye runes; the vileblood rune is good with poormans gems; theres a lot more you missed on but all i have to say is you need to play more lol
You sure that the eye runes don’t make a noticeable difference? Cause that would be amazing
Dude I never thought I would find a video about this game that I 1000% agree with! Good video Hunter 😌
Nice thanks man! Just started playing a few weeks ago
The holy trinity is Clockwise, anti-clockwise and great lake
Would you say that’s a good combination against kos?
@@AnthonyMoreno-b7r for Kos I would change great lake for arcane lake for extra resistance
@@AnthonyMoreno-b7rif you’re good at backstabs, you should use both clawmark runes and a blood rapture
This is it for me.
Runes:
S: Oedon Writhe, Anti-Clockwise, Heir, Blood Rapture, Moon, Communion, Formless Oedon
A: Clockwise, Eye
B: Lake Types, Clawmark, Beast
C: Sea Types, Guidance
Covenant:
S: Hunter
A: Beast Embrace, Milkweed
C: Corruption, Impurity, Radiance
Clawmark is far down because it's a very specific build alongside Beast and Guidance. It's not generally useful. A and S are useful in many situations. As for the Covenant, only Hunter, Beast, and Milkweed actually matter in PvE. The others are just PvP stuff that don't matter.
I feel like you are slightly undervaluing Guidance and Corruption for pve. Corruption causes all hunter npcs that attack you to drop blood dregs that can be used for insight making it a supplementary source of the rare insight currency. Not to big of a deal but compared to other minor boosts except for hunters stamina regen more insight is pretty nice.
As for guidance sure it isn't worth it if you completly abandon rally in the late game and it is harder to build into than blood rapture but if you get good blood gems for your weapons then it can definently help making rally strong in the end game.
The thing to know about rally is that the high tier rally gems are much stronger than the descriptions say they are. The lethal gem from the dlc that says 12% actually boost rally by 50% and the chalice dungeon gems with 6% secondary rally actually boost rally by 25% ish. They all stack multiplicative. With guidance and some rally secondary gems pretty much any weapon can get strong rally in the end game.
@@simonwahlen7150 I didn't know that much about rally in general. I just rely on the weapon's natural rally potential rather than actually "building" towards rally anyway. Problem for me with it is that building rally has a lot to do with maintaining poise. And if you're going to maintain your poise then that means maintaining your stamina and dodging everything that will stagger you. At that point, I find it much better to just invest on more damage or survivability rather than relying on rally potential. And to be honest, I never actually tried to build a character centered towards rally. I've also never used any gems that boosts rally. I have them in my NG+2 inventory but I never bothered to actually try them out. At some point in the game, it was better for me to simply dodge and attack like you would normally instead of relying on rally. But I can see some potential with VIT Gouge, poison rally heavy builds for pvp and pve against hunter type enemies. But in bosses I struggle with usually, they have these heavy blunt attacks that will either one shot you or will stagger you so much that rallying won't be enough to refill your health. That's the reason why I ranked it so low. But who knows maybe next year when I feel like revisiting bloodborne I'll try it out and see for myself.
This is all about playstyle and preference. This is just hus preference. Personally, i think theres a better way to rank them cuz half of his C tier is crazy for certain builds.
This couldve been so much better bro

I had already played the game roughly 8-10 times through usually Ng+4 is my max, very hard to finish and I had seriously never found the oedon writhe rune until like 4 days ago. Absolutely clutch!!!!!
