When you rewatch it, you notice there are a LOT of callbacks in the final act of the film, such as Joyce shouting "FASCIST" before shooting Nicholas, that was a callback to their first meeting when she's doing the crossword, as is him saying "hag!" afterwards. Another one is the farmer shouting "MUM!" when Angel hits his car and she shoots him, that's another callback cos remember the detectives mention "everybody and their mums are packing here". "Like who?" "Farmers!" "Who else?" "Farmers' mums". See if you can spot all the callbacks and self-referential moments, there are a lot of them. One of my faves is when one of the detectives says "shall we put in a call to Aaron A Aaronson?" then the kid in the model village at the end says his name is "Aaron Aaronson". Also not sure if you noticed, but "the greater good" is never said just once, whenever anyone says it it's always repeated by someone else! Honestly this is such a clever and well crafted film, every time you watch it you notice something new.
The best part of this movie is the rewatches.. You always catch a new reference. My favorite catch is at the carnival where the girl cop is between 2 dudes and in front of her there is a pig being spit roasted.

In Denmark 18 to get served alchohol in a bar or bying liquor youself and 16 to buy anything under 16% alchohol in a super market. But I actually don't think we got a drinking age. If the police saw a couple of drunk 12 year old they wouldnt do anything about it unless they were irresponsible

Yep the second of the Cornetto Trilogy. The supermarket manager, Skinner is played by Timothy Dalton, who played James Bond no. 4. In, Worlds End the next and last in the series there's a character played by Pierce Brosnan, James Bond no.5.
Most actors have been highlighted to you, apart from the police inspector, played by Steve Coogan from the "Night at the Museum" franchise, the other two policemen Martin Freeman and Bill Nighy have been in too much stuff to list here. Lord of the Rings and Hobbit director Peter Jackson was the Santa who stabbed him. Joyce Cooper "hag" was played by Billie Whitelaw, the evil children's nanny from one of the most iconic horror films "The Omen". The vicar/priest is played by Paul Freeman (no relation to Martin), he was Belloq the main baddie in "Raiders of the Lost Ark". The guy from the NWA in charge of all the cctvs, was Edward Woodward, the original "Equaliser" from an 80s U.S. tv show, (theme song "An Englishman in New York" written and performed by Sting), he was also the original Wicker Man, that Hollywood butchered with a terrible remake starring Nicholas Cage. His last line in this "oh God no" was exactly the same as in The Wicker Man. There're actually two Oscar winning actresses in this, apart from Cate Blanchett, wpc Doris, played by Olivia Coleman, who won best actress in 2018 or 19.
Cate Blanchett played uncredited Nicholas's ex-partner at the start of the film, Genene/Genine. You can only see it's her by looking at her eyes thanks to the forensic suit, but it also gives a master class in acting with your eyes and your voice as you can see her emotion just from that small region of her face.
'Englishman in New York' wasn't the theme for The Equalizer. The actual theme music was written by Stewart Copland, the drummer in The Police (of which Sting was the bassist & vocalist) so maybe that's where you're getting confused.

I have to say I was born in 88 and didnt watch point break till maybe 2015 and the scene where keanu jumps out of the plane without a parachute is the most intense and totally rad moment in action movies.
For anyone who didn’t get the Romeo and Juliet joke, they were doing a stage performance of the Baz Luhrmann version from the 90’s set in then modern Verona (the American one,) it’s the version with John Leguizamo as Tybalt Paul Rudd as Paris, Harold Perrineau as Mercutio, Leo as Romeo and Claire Danes as Juliet, hence the gun and the song that plays after Juliet dies. (It’s why he said it was a Homage to William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.)
Interestingly enough the Luhrmann version is only 120 minutes long which is just 2 hours long like the original play, but they which means in this context Nick and Danny state that they sat through 3 hours of so-called acting with the kiss being the only convincing part, which implies that the amateur actors repeatedly messed up takes and had to start scenes over or inserted songs and musical numbers to pad the run time.

Sort of - a stanley knife has a retractable triangular blade usually inside a solid metal handle. Stanley is also a brand of tools in the UK (like Milwaukee or Makita) but what Skinner had there was a cheap version of that with disposable blades which you break off as they become dull inside a cheap plastic handle with a long hole down one side - the blade is still retractable with a ratchet mechanism but it's not designed to be used forever like a proper Stanley knife. A box cutter however is just that - it's a tool for cutting boxes. Supermarkets issue them to their staff a lot of the time (which was probably the look they were going for here as Skinner was a supermarket worker/manager) but proper box cutters have fixed blades behind a plastic U guard so that the worker can't touch the blade at all but it fits over the edge of a box to cut it open or whatever.

great that there's James Bond , The Equalizer ( real one ) and the Hound in it............................... among many other very well known British actors
So. start with some factual stuff Alcohol is complicated in the UK. 18 is the age when all restrictions on purchase are removed, subject to the licensee's discretion. But In England if you have alcohol with a meal. and it's purchased by someone over 18 then it's usually okay. Anyhow, this whole film is wonderful and almost a directory of British film and TV actors while nodding to endless other films. It all, sort of, spins from the equally wonderful Spaced, a TV sitcom from the 90s. In some ways it's even a throwback to Will Hay and other old-school comedies. I love it, and it's a brilliant reaction. Thank you.
That was some cast mostly well known from Yesteryear , we went from The Wicker man to James Bond, Belloq from Indiana Jones as well as Mrs Warboys all the way to many more well known actors in this era .
You've seen him as the nice guy in Steve Carrell's team in the Big Short (and also as a very young man working with Shaun in the electronics store in Shaun of the Dead). 🙂
The other Andy is Rafe Spall. He’s been in Prometheus, The Big Short, Jurassic Park Fallen Kingdom and the tv series Trying. His dad Timothy Spall is one of my favourite actors and a UK legend. Great reaction, The Worlds End coming soon I hope.
Sergeant Angel, used the go out with Kate Blancett Galadriel from Lord of the rings. Works with Martin freeman, Bilbo from the Hobbit. Bill Neigh Victor the head vampire from underworld. Then proceeds to beat both James Bond and the Hound. All in the same film.
If my memory is right its funny to think that there are four oscar winners in this film. Jim Broadbent, Olivia Coleman, Cate Blanchett and Peter Jackson.

You need to watch the DVD with the trivia track … Amongst other tidbits, they couldn’t damage the glass in the supermarket so they pretended it was bulletproof, lol … And they do paperwork because the coppers they studied with said it wasn’t shown properly in TV and film :)
I'd forgotten how funny this flick was lol
great that there's James Bond , The Equalizer ( real one ) and the Hound in it............................... among many other very well known British actors
So. start with some factual stuff
Alcohol is complicated in the UK. 18 is the age when all restrictions on purchase are removed, subject to the licensee's discretion.
But
In England if you have alcohol with a meal. and it's purchased by someone over 18 then it's usually okay.
Lol I haven't seen the Big Short
Whoever edited this video did at least as good of a job as the editor of the movie. Especially the confiscation scene flowed perfectly.
Oh, that's me! 👋😊 Thank you!
@@chrissiereacts Great job! The Nice Guys is a movie in a similar vein I think youd have a good reaction to.
He was also the bratty underling in Shaun's shop.
I like you and have subscribed. Very well-known British cast including a "James Bond" i. e Timothy Dalton as The Grocer etc
It’s mad to think that skinner was once 007 James Bond lol
If my memory is right its funny to think that there are four oscar winners in this film. Jim Broadbent, Olivia Coleman, Cate Blanchett and Peter Jackson.
Cate Blanchett (Jeanine 😷) and Peter Jackson 🎅 also have oscars, no?
@@LordVolkov Oh my god yes. You are correct. Ive edited my comment. 😁
Under 18s can drink in the UK, they're just not allowed to buy it!
As you like the Cornetto films so much, you might want to give some of Edgar Wright's other films a watch. I loved Baby Driver.
Yeah I've heard really good things about Baby Driver. Didn't realise that was the same director!
3:50 In the UK, 16 and 17 year olds can have an alcoholic drink in a pub if they are also having a meal and their guardian is present.
Neighbourhood watch guy is the original Equalizer.
Another film with the great pairing of Simon Pegg/Nick Frost is Paul.
The Andy next to Paddy C is Rafe Spall, been in lots of things…
Maan I need to rewatch this trilogy. Absolutely hilarious
Skid marks will always be funny
Respectfully, you look great Chrissie 😍 love the tattoos
Finally subbing 😅
Haha finally! 😉
Jim Broadbent who played the police chief is a national treasure. You might know him from the later Harry Potter films
Yes, Half-Blood Prince is one of my favourite movies... but he'll always be Bridget Jones' dad to me 😊
@chrissiereacts if you get into British comedy series, check out Only Fools & Horses. He was only ever in 3 episodes but his impact was immense
And he’s Mr Gruber in the Paddington films.
