Born in 95 and raised with toonami, me and my four bros loved it growing up. It held some kind of binding to it, its part of why I'm goin to college to animate. So maybe one day I can give to future kids the same gift that Clyd and Toms 1,2,3.....and 5 gave me.
It's funny seeing the fans split between the different versions of Toonami. Usually it's whatever version of Toonami they discover first: the Toonami of 1999-2003 vs. the Toonami of 2004-2007. Both are good. There are even some people that prefer the first Toonami of 1997-1999, and the final Toonami of 2007-2008....and I guess some people are discovering Toonami for the first time from 2012 onward (though with it not airing until Midnight, it's pretty clear the target audience is those who grew up with the old Toonami and who are now young adults)...
My Toonami years were 2004-2006. I started watching with DBZ in The Frieza Saga. I watched everything else but when DBZ was taken off, I stopped watching. Now it's back on TV since April Fools in 2012.
It's amazing how much Toonami got away with. They aired barely censored Dragon Ball, DBZ, and other perverted anime between 4pm-6pm Mon-Fri. We were so lucky as kids

actually tom#5 is actually tom 3.5 because there was no transaction between tom 3, tom#4 is a different tom on a planet and tom 1,2,3 are the same software just different bodies, also tom 3.5 is the same as tom 3, just upgraded by a bit
you guys probably hear this alot and think its stupid, but once DBZ was taken off toonami that was the end for me, i'm old school, 2003 was my last year with toonami, but i am trying to get back into it with Adult Swim, which is awesome, because i also grew up with adult swim, and now that i'm older the mature theme is better for oonami
I feel exactly the same way. although tom 3 in 2003. notice how he talks and no tom intro before that does? I don't know it just seems like he wasn't as epic as the older toms. its like things started to go downhill back then and then finally in 2004 toonami was taken to saturdays, cartoon network was now "cn". the whole network just fell apart in 2004 it seemed like and I was only 12 back then.
yeah I was around the same age as you the time that happens I'm 20 now and I was born in 1993 so you do the math but like I said I'm trying to get back into it but its hard without DBZ I'm trying Naruto out just like a new anime but I'm having difficulty and I'm really not interested in one piece I have been watching that space dandy show and I think it's pretty funny
eric gaza yea toonami just not the same anymore. if they can't get dbz on their I would hope they can at least get yu yu hakusho on there cause I didn't see the whole series and remember it was pretty bad ass. but I'll definitely try space dandy out. that and samurai jack look to be the only good things on toonami right now in my opinion. but yea like you I pretty much used to only watch toonami for dbz. if you want a little nostalgia you should click on my channel and click on the video called "Toonami - Dec 2000 bumpers". its awesome stuff ;)
Ian Bowman yeah, but it's going to be kai, the music in kai just doesnt do it for me, now hear me out for a minute, alot of people actually like the kai soundtrack, but i have to use the bruce falcunor composure. Even more people would say they could care less about what music is playing during dbz, but the bruce falcunor composure is what did it for me as a kid, that's like playing zelda with mario music and pretending everything is ok, it just doesnt work like that for me
toonami 2012 is way more awesome FUCK SLEEPING. plus i heard there bring past animes like dbz and gundam wing this yr soooo yeah i love how there bringing back GOOD animes
yeah never liked the #4 model, practically brought the end of Toonami. Even Moltar was still better, for a villain of Space Ghost! I'm Glad Tom 5 brought it back, he's like the new #2 model! Heard there's a #6 now, almost died by the 1st model too!
I’ve been digging for this and I gotta tell you the whole is DEEP. Joe Boyd Vigil is where you should start looking but the exact song escapes me, I can’t find it on any of the albums. I found a couple more TH-cam videos of the exact song but everything about it is vague 😢

If I had to pick my favorite version of Tom it would be TOM 2 and one I'm not a fan of would obviously TOM 4.
I liked T.O.M 2,3,4, and 3.5 except 1 because tom 1 looked short and weird but i liked tom 4 mostly.
