It is so bad now . I have lived here most of my life and the theft/crime/homeless has gotten really out of control in the past few years. Some residents have a lot of wealth and can afford to be stolen from every month just so we can preserve the loving liberal image. Even worse, anytime there are new propositions on the ballot to raise our taxes it always passes! They love paying taxes here to the point that "regular earners" are being priced out.

So then the sky is the limit on where they can defecate.Their life depends on being close to commerce. Its how they eat.If they were anywhere else they are no less or more tresspassing. How does a person tresspass in a place open to the public and accessable to the public? How does an American live when their shelter is only makeshift and dosent provide for more then minimal protection from the rain.Lots more homeless are on the way because of covid and the fires. No matter how much either of us may not like it, this is the waste that our politicians and capitolism leaves in its wake. Its the new American way, the new normal and until those bickering fighting fools stop focusing on russia and china trying to destroy our lives and do something real that is effective in dealing with housing the disadvantaged the problem will not only exist but get much worse.

If you go on that same website oklahoma city is just as bad. Are these the republican cities that you are pointing to as a model? I am just going to ignore your hard work vs handouts bs as blue states are a net provider of taxes and red states are takers.

@Kevo Heavo And yet republican cities still have their issues. That is the point, voting republican won't fix any issues, it's more complex than what party is in power. Your view of said problems is also hyper partisan towards right wing propaganda, I am not convinced you are interested in actually addressing said issues only to point blame at democrats and the poor. Again Democratic states are a net tax provider even with all of these issues whereas republican states like kentucky are net takers despite all of the so called 'hard working' Americans living in red states.

I personally know literally everyone involved in this "story". Here are the facts: that alleyway is a public right-of-way. NOT PRIVATE PROPERTY. Almost no one walks through there but people sit there sometimes; local waiters having a cigarette and that sort of thing. A certain person who works at a nearby business (did not appear in this story) told another person (also did not appear in this story) to leave just for resting there for a minute. This gentleman is a personal friend of mine and a US Army veteran. He's actually a pretty hardcore Republican too but go on with the blaming liberals for everything in the comments guess. Anyway, he wasn't trespassing, he had every right to be there and said so. Unfortunately tempers flared and apparently the two had a physical altercation, after which the police were called and the "HATEFUL HOMELESS" man was arrested on an unrelated bench warrant. Those two were both pretty dang caucasian by the way, so I don't know where "hate crime" came into the picture unless you're counting it as a hate crime AGAINST A HOMELESS PERSON. That's not the story they want to present on the evening news though, is it?
For example, you see those people they show as a visual representation of this "problem?" Just some friendly traveling hippies who have been in town for about a day, a full week after the incident in the alleyway. The owner of that shop they're in front of gave them enthusiastic permission to sell jewelry there in front of his store; right before he started badmouthing them on camera. That same guy? The one complaining about the "lawlessness?" About a week prior to all this he caught an alleged shoplifter/burglar (see broken window) NOT a local homeless guy, just some random guy from out of town, but anyway he started beating this guy within an inch of his life right on that sidewalk. Dozens of people including myself witnessed it. You know who put a stop to the brutal attack and restrained the alleged shoplifter until police arrived? One of our dreaded "hateful homeless," doing what we do best; which is helping keep the peace on these streets and watching out for our fellow human beings, whatever walk of life they may come from. THAT'S not the story though, is it? No, much better to just keep people in their homes scared and resentful of the "criminals" and "crazy people" who sleep outside, feeling affinity for people who abuse their power, and keep voting for more inhuman authoritarian tactics to further harrass and intimidate people who are already extremely vulnerable.
Notice how they mention police can't really do anything about this "out of control" problem? That's because there is no actual crime.
"They're pooping and throwing trash everywhere"... WHERE? Get footage of this alleged homeless-generated poop and trash problem. Seriously guys let's all go on a scavenger hunt together and find evidence this alleged poop epidemic in Davis. Oh wait... there is no poop. Other than this story.
Shame on you, CBS Sacramento. This is a piece of alarmist propaganda from top to bottom. Being so close to the actual situation and seeing how it's been filtered through the local media is surreal. Like, I'm calling it, this really is Fake News.
Look at the comments section, presenting the news in this manner is not harmless. You present falsehoods and suddenly thousands people are out for blood.
Most of us around here did have a pretty good laugh at the cheesiness and cluelessness though. "HATEFUL HOMELESS QUESTION MARK?"

@@anthonycbrown1952 I was living in NYC when both Dinkins and Giuliani were mayors. He may have lost his mind since then, but it's incredible how well Rudy cleaned up NYC. NYC was a hell-hole when he took office. Bums everywhere. When he became mayor, Giuliani gave the homeless three options - go into a shelter, go to jail, or leave the city. It worked. He did have to work with the state to provide enough shelter beds, so in California both cities and the state would have to cooperate. I do question whether Newsom would be willing to follow that formula. Too many California politicians think forcing someone into a shelter is inhumane.

    • @anthonycbrown1952

@@fixpacifica We agree to a point but does telling someone to leave the city simply pushes the burden to another area. When Chicago tore down the projects, the poor did not disappear.
