wait you compared a vanilla gameplay to a modded gameplay? in before this mf says that session is also played in the lowest graphic settings too, anything is possible at this point. it also seems like he chose a sunnier setting in skater xl lmao, that's tough

Most of the maps in skater xl are bummy af and twice as big as they would be in real life. Tampa especially would be so much better if they just made it 1:1 scale.

@@WagonerVT Explain how a skate game can be generic lmao. It's hard to be unique when they're all trying to do the same thing which is make a skateboarding game.
Keep in mind that Session has an actual stats menu in its core game. Where XL has to rely on mods. This guys' gameplay looks completely different than mine. Changing the stats can also change your style and if you skate with looser trucks it makes the landings look way more steezy.

Na, F*ck both of them trash ass games... We're lucky to have "Skate 2" which is from almost 15 years ago and is still way better then those dogshit games. Its surta like how Fight Night is still so much better then Undisputed even tho its from 2011. These sad ass Indie game companies need to just stop ✋

Session just needs a animator for the W but also raw gameplay and real filming/clips can change the perspective a lot, not to mention personal setups can alter how the games work
I like how tweaking the options on Session basically turns it into a completely different game

I've played a ton of Session so I'm probably biased but something about SXL always looks off to me.

I think it’s something about the bodies in xl the arms are super long. Session looks more proportionate

@@artofjacobs.9512 yeah everytime a see tre or anything from session it looks fake floaty like the gravity doesnt kick in. Skater xl definitly pops way too high but it looks like a stupid high ollie where as session animations looks clunky and make the physics feel wrong to me
Sessions a little rough around the edges but it’s a way better game overall imo
Ive always been of the mindset that if you have a PC and willingness to mod then XL is far better. If you are on a console and no ability to mod Session will give you more diversity and gameplay options making it the better un modded console game.
Session just needs better animations, but I know it’s been hard for them finding an animator, because they’ve publicly said that. Skater xl on the other side, needs to fix there pop, sound, and communication as there big problems. It’s a headache knowing that skater xl remakes the same map for 3 years straight
They have had a new animator since last year in October
@@Zyke_iLLest no something happened to that guy he’s no longer with them, I’m not sure if he got fired or quit, but I think is because he wasn’t the right person. If that makes sense, like they didn’t like the way he did it. So they are still looking for one
idk the animations are like system driven right? so every kickflip can be completely different in the way it looks by how you input the data. But you are probably talking about something else.
@@SoyDuckHot yeah it is like that, but a lot of it is still wonky, same if you’re going to fast your ankles bend and if you push mongo you run yourself over and fall.
I have both and session by far for me is better I have it on core so it takes me 3 tries to land something but when you do it feels rewarding, I like the realness of the core gameplay I turned off auto lock everything is on manual mode I just wish you could snap the tail or noise when landing awkwardly and I wish the trucks would also have wear and tear but good game sim in my opinion
Honestly once Sessions gets some grab trick animations and constant updates it could be on a level of Skate if not better. Like you said the realness of it sold me. At first the two sticks made no sense to me but if you’re ever ridden a skateboard before it makes total sense
Session for sure. Every trick looks and feels 10x more satisfying. XL is fun but too “floaty”
Sessions 100 updates in and still feels soooo clunky and stiff. But you couldn’t pay me to go back to skater xl. That’s why I play neither now lol.

The animation the skater has in xl when he lands a trick should be in session. That looks so good.

I won't deny that SXL really does the boardslides real nice imo. If they ever get good animations in Session that it'll be GOAT imo
That's the ONLY thing I don't like doing in session tbh. But also, I don't like doing em in SXL even though they look better there, just because I don't think board/lip slides are that cool in video games tbh
ION CONSOLE.. xbox to be exact. I have both games. SESSION looks better feels better and just everything is better in session, It really depends if your talking pc or console cause skater xl is fun but on console you cant adjust any physics and there are very few maps. session has sooo many skate spots and the accuracy is so impressive i live in sf and its unreal how detailed the sf map is.

I returned skater XL pretty quick and have put in like a 100 hours into session 🤷♂️🤷♂️
I think session has alot of potential and it'll be really really good once it's been updated a bit.

I Like both games but Session is more vibrant and has more options, and Skater XL has more flow and mods that make the game sound and look better. pretty much both game are very high quality in gameplay! 😎
i think i prefer playing session than skater xl. i think both are good i think its just personal preference
I haven't played Skater XL but I've played Session. Session has ruined other skate games for me tho. I played THPS 1 & 2 a few days ago and I had to re learn how to play.
XL will always look less clunky and that's just a fact
ehh i feel like session looks smoother, imo the way the board flips and the jump setup looks and feels better than xl but i do like skater xl

I don't know, to me Session looks so clunky the way the skater pushes the board and just the body and everything. Idk just feels like PS3 graphics compared to 2023 PC graphics.

Definitely not vanilla XL!! This comparison is incomparable, I started with vanilla XL, and than got session when it released and I’ve never gone back!! Session is the winner!!
the only thing i dont like about session is that tricks are animations, your stick movement doesn't affect the spin/flip of the board, only the landings/catch n that stuff. i like skater xl cause you control the way the spins/ flips, in a more realistic way, my example would to be look at sessions 3 shuvs, fs and bs dont look that that great u can only really change the catch body rotation and landing. while in skater xl, i can scoop it how id actually do it irl
dude session is system driven input based. You can make every trick look different with how you input the buttons.
idk lowkey modded xl looks so good, but the fact that i can just hop on vanilla session and it’s already good kind of speaks volumes
Session looks cleaner, but I like the trick animations better on skater xl, the motions look a little more natural.
i think animation-wise and graphically, session looks much better. however there's just a deeper level of customization and control over style in skaterxl with the modding that cant really be touched by session. session just feels more complete, i definitely prefer it after playing both though im still learning session
Why would determining the better appearing game matter when mods are involved?
After playing thps my whole life and never playing any of the skate games playing session super difficult for me. Also i know nothing about skating other than some basics bc my friends were skaters and like i said I used to play thps.
Session, note the fact skater xl is all modded out believe me once session get his stuff and clunky animation fix then we can say what rail will be grinding 🤙🏼
I recently started session and I'm enjoying it a lot. Haven't tried skaterxl, do they have the same controls?
The controls are similar, but you do need to learn and get used to the differences between both games
Skater XL controls are basically like someone tried to copy sessions but had no idea what they're doing and completely missed the whole point of the control system. I wouldn't say the same because skater XL controls are so off it makes it a different game but that's also what makes skater XL worse than session the controls are just wrong and you could tell right away

From someone who spends a lot of time at there local park, an wants the realism feel in the game skater xl feels like a mobile game not a console game, sessions feels more like a tweaked skate 3 just modern an realistic

Looks wise for environment XL looks better. But if u look XL dudes jacket no movement besides obvious bend spots...session dudes shirt actual movies n ripples etc when in movement. Lil more realism in session
I kind of expected skate games to be further along then they are.
Session gameplay is good and the graphics is amazing but the mostly i hated in session is that some mods or most mods if they have a new update on the game keeps on crashing and its quite annoying to me
But on skater xl it has its own built-in mods browser and i love it mostly plus it has multiplayer

As a skateboarder who has played both games trying to figure out which one is essentially more life like. Session by a landslide and if i go into detail why it will be a very....very....very long comment lol

as someone whos put well over 100 hours into both games, I can absolutely say that if we're talking no mods, session easily takes the W. After playing session for a straight week, I found it difficult to return to XL's more clunky response. I always found XL way too springy and a weightless, there didn't really feel like there was any board under me and that always through me off. While Session does have a much steeper learning curve, the feel is ultimately far more satisfying than XL.

First pass I would say session
By the third pass its hard leaning towards skater
The animations look waaaay more natural, the background environment looks better, and the lighting is nicer, but session has better looking characters

For console, skater xl looks better and plays smoother, but it’s a much more arcade feel to it. Session doesn’t play as smooth nor does it look as good. But the controls are better and you have the option to mod your stats. Preference I guess
Session lower body movements + skater xl upper body movements. With session graphics = perfect visuals
The only thing skater xl does better than session is 1. Graphics 2. Grab tricks both are fun but I am 100% playing session every time over skater xl, Missions, walking, more free roam
Session especially since the skater XL has to be modded even to this point to make them look more alike Skater Xl is like a simcade SKaing game as session is a full Skate SIm and this is coming from 115hr in skater xl and 570+ in session
ALSO you shouldn't have to mod a game to make it Act the way it should So session gets this hands down the W and because it also still ADDS TO AND UPDATES THE GAME if skater XL doesnt add any good updates soon within a year session will leave skater xl in the dust feature and content wise
The one main thing i currently give the edge to XL is Vert/Transition
But like i said if enough time passes and Session updates that aspect then i pretty much have no more use for skater Xl
