Considering I regularly spill water when pouring from a carafe, and also seem to have mild dysgraphia, you did at least as well as I would have, and probably better.
That sign, "MATT TRIED..." with the splatters and all, should be a T-shirt. They should sell it whenever Matt tried something.

I just love how positive and encouraging Frankie is. Hes super non judgemental and supportive and seems to enjoy showing you the ropes. Realy enjoyable to see :)

It's such a brilliant idea that should be implement wherever possible! It makes it easier for workers and creates no mess!
Crater grease (very heavy thick grease) can come in bags you just toss into the gearbox. But that's more because it's just obnoxious to deal with
It's rare for a host to be as good at presenting/narrating as they are fun to simply watch giddily try things. Matt is a treasure.
If Frankie is like this in his day-to-day job, he is a great boss and I think it would be really nice to be one of his apprentices. It’s amazing to see the skills that are required to make something so ubiquitous.

Considering I bet this kind of thing is completely different for Frankie and his team, he was a natural at explaining and encouraging. That coupled with the unadulterated joy of Matt’s laughter made this an awesome video.

Now I know how, and why there is often a squiggly puddled lines in corner of some parking lots. I could never figure out how that would even happen and now I know it's caused by training people to use the line machine 😆
That and the back roads. I've driven some roads where it would help to be drunk to follow the lines.
@@RyanMartin1 yeah, my first thought was, when seeing Matt try: now i know who did 'em! but actually, sometimes, i think lines get squiggly when they melt in sun, that is, when tarmac is soft and flowy and kinda flows and gets wavy. esp if one drives over those lines.

Matt, you're a great presenter for a series like this! Technical enough to ask some good questions, and always enthusiastic about learning something new.
I never thought that line markings would be (semi)-biodegradable, but I suppose it makes sense.
They are a resin based thrmoplastic, with pigments usually organic, or titanium dioxide for white, and glass microspheres
All will breakdown slowly except for the glass spheres and titanium dioxide both of which are insoluble and non-toxic

Also, nobody seems to have noticed that everything said over the donkey engine's rattling was clearly audible, without subtitles. That's the true genius of Matt Gray!
I was blown away by the circles (which highlight things like the switch), placed in position on the element while the camera was moving.

That's the kind of hazing the new guy I like. Being kind along the way, showing them the ropes, yet still acknowledging how much practice and skill it takes to be actually good at it.

I think Matt just loved doing those mini adventures on the Technical Difficulties, so he decided to make his own series with his own budget 😁 i love it
The audience response to his TechDiff adventures was what convinced him that this could be a viable concept. 😊
They are just fun to learn. I have a similar thing that I would love to just drive a tractor once> I have no fancy in becoming a farmer but to drive one once seems like fun. and with something like this the camera crew gives Matt a excuse.
Matt's pure, unadulterated enthusiasm is amazing to see. Just makes me happy watching these videos.
I love this!! In my neighborhood I get excited when they come around with this equipment and the SHINY REFLECTIVE BALLS they stick on top. I pick up the extras from the gutter like the packrat I am inside.

I have some fond memories of these things, weirdly
I remember walking to university one day, it was absolutely freezing and with the campus being right on the bloody coast, very windy too.
I walked past one of these machines and my god, it was so nice to stand by it for a couple of minutes just warming up.
Imagine pulling into that firm's carpark about to book them for a job and seeing Matt's wobbly lines, you'd be like NOPE!😂
I'd just assume it what they have the trainees do. Better to have them lesrn on private land.

The end bit was some great comedy. Absolute props to Frankie. Also I already love this series- it's great to see jobs like this most people never even think about, and get to see how much effort goes into it, and you get to try it firsthand- I'm jealous! I got to do this with welding once, but I had a whole week to go from totally incompetent to only mostly incompetent.

This is quickly becoming one of my favourite series.

I bet if you went back a year later, those lines would still be there, because 1) they're pretty good. It's a functional car park after all, not the national gallery, b) Removing them would be more effort only to have to redo them, and 3) I bet "Matt Tried... " is still there too.
Why remove it when it’s a fun memory that doubles as a reminder to m new trainees that nobody expects them to be perfect at it immediately?

Matt said "lumpy ice cream," but man, can you imagine using that machine for raclette? You could tell by the idling noise when the waiter was coming by with the pram full of hot cheese.

Right away this video was far more interesting than I thought it would be. Then they pulled out the flame thrower and I was like, "This job is awesome!"
What a top bloke Frankie was! And well done Matt. You did so well! If I was trying it, the idea of bending down and aiming the plastic while it (hopefully) drips into the first hand mould, let alone the 2" square mould, all whilst keeping to a straight line *and* moving at the same time is too much multi-tasking. There's no way I'd have done such a good job as you, Matt. These professionals are masters of their craft and I'd happily watch them paint wording on roads for hours.

This is my first time watching Matt Gray is Trying and it is very wonderful. Matt was cheerful and so was the staff, and I really liked how helpful Frankie was.
The video format did remind me a bit of shows produced on PBS, a (national/public) television channel in the US. I looked at the description and found that the video was in collaboration with Penny4, and while reading the home page of the website, it came a bit of a shock to know that they *also* collaborated with PBS themselves.
Truly this video was marvelous and I hope this serious continues after the new year.
damn thats such an interesting job I never thought about. Huge respect for the people who do this in all kinds of weather day in and day out.
If I get bored with my current line of work, this series is a good source for odd jobs that I did not think about.
