    I thought $70 PCR test in South Africa was expensive when I took one before my international trip last year. We only need the results of wherever we went to when returning to South Africa, so no additional tests at the airport on arrival. The Ghana test at the airport is daylight robbery. Why do another one there when you already tested in the Netherlands?

    • @franklinsmart6112

      Ghana owns her Airport. Africans sleep in the Cold in Europe. Bcs of administrative Frustration inflicted on them by Europeans...

    • @miss_pearl
      @miss_pearl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You went for the expensive laboratories. PCR test is R250 here in South Africa at Dischem, we don't use dollars here so I am not sure how much that is in dollars. You go to the fancy labs if you want. They are considering scrapping tests for vaccinated people as well, I saw it in the news recently. Ghana is just extorting, there's no reason for a rapid test to cost $150, we know they are doing a rapid test, the pricing is just ridiculous.

    • @jacksonm.6549
      @jacksonm.6549 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@miss_pearl Nope. I'm a South African and for international travel you needed a PCR which was R850. It's more expensive than the normal covid test which you take if you want to know if you're infected.

      @@franklinsmart6112 so if I'm Ghanaian born but has another country's passport via naturalisation, I still have to pay $200..that's not right at all...it's a scam and the government know about it but because of the level of deceipt, bribery, selfishness and corruption in government, they choose not to address the issue but rather extort from people in the name of covid...and if it was not covid, it's definitely going to be something else that will put money in their pockets!!!...then they wonder why Ghanaians skilled labour are migrating for greener pastures!!!...Yes, We sleep in the cold in Europe and America but most of us also make good fortune with the opportunities we have over here, which is definitely way better than if we were still residing in Ghana..and that's a fact!!!...I never experienced any administrative frustration in Europe, Canada and currently The USA...and I will choose any of these places over Ghana anyday when it comes to job opportunities and amassing wealth!!! Any other obstacle/issue to me is secondary!!!...it's really sad that our homeland will treat her people this way for all these years but talk about racism, violence and economic/administrative frustration overseas...when most of us are making it here big time and because of that, we are able to come home and run big business ventures everywhere...

      One can still get covid, even though one has been vaccinated. This is referred to as a breakthrough infection, which is why both vaccine and testing are required. The fact of this matter is that when one is vaccinated, but contracts covid, the symptoms are milder, thereby reduces the chance of being hospitalized and possibly dieing. This alleviates the pressure on a country's health care and hospital systems and services.

    Lucky you, we're a family of 3 & we paid, £55 each for PCR test, b4 leaving UK, then another $50, each ( because of our dual nationality or else we'd hv paid $150 each!) Then another Covid test in Accra costing Ghc250, each and finally had to do a day 2 test when we arrived in the UK, costing £43 each!! N this is just opting for the self-administered home kit, we'd hv paid more! Money burns through your palms in Ghana like bushfires in the harmattan!! 2 days later, UK scrapped the 2 day arrival test!! Is there any wonder that we couldn't visit any extended family during Christmas? Covid 19 is definitely sponsoring some countries economies, at the expense of the average traveller. Airlines are charging double too!! I'm still reliving the trauma of the shoving & pushing in transit & on arrival in Ghana!! Review & scrap these draconian charges, after all how many ppl ff the protocols in Ghana? 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️ If the virus persists, ppl are joyfully spreading it in public & in private!! It sucks!!☹☹

    I was home last summer flying into Ghana was not problematic but, when I got back to the US side, boy was it a hassle. My family and I had to be separated because of shortage in staffing so by the time we got through to protocol to our contecting flight lounge it had left. You can't believe the wahala. It's not easy to travel anywhere these days. You have to have alot of patience.
