Thanks for watching. I create the mouth plate to fit the puppet I'm building and just glue it in place. I may in the future create a video showing that part of the process. Thanks again.
this is great! Very interesting to see how this works. I'm working on a project and this was super helpful. Heh, now I'm glad I saved all those dumb pen springs. Hording is rewarded again.😅
Troy...you are a person of many areas of interest....I have done puppets...because I did Clowning in my younger days. The open and close of the mouth action has helped me with a basic rig ( very basic rig ) for lip syncing in animation.... MOHO...and I love tools....I am a Jackie of all trades but master of .....I keep trying...I imagine your studio...must look like mine
Just wanted to say great video, thank you very much for making it, really useful for a project I'm currently working on! Might seem strange, but I wanted to ask: is there a size of puppet that this doesn't work so well at? Just my puppet could possibly end up quite large, so that could factor in to the sizing of it 😁
@@troypicou hi sorry for some reason my work account won’t let me talk back I’m the same person that asked the question above… thank you for replying did you say in this video you had a Facebook page?
@@troypicou ok great! I followed you!! I can’t wait to try this on Monday would you mind if I emailed you questions I have? I was trying to look for the step by step you mentioned in the beginning of the video. This video is so helpful!! And you do really fantastic work!
Desmond Sinclair make sure you on troy picou the works and not my personal page. It's been some time sense I posted it so you may have to search for it.
Actually I think I might be able to do it with foam glue and wire the eyelid itself, thank you though since your video made me want to have another go at making puppets again and this time I've been more successful!
Great video, learned a bunch! Would like to see how you attach the mouth mechanism to the puppet itself. Cant wait to see more!

This was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!
Great!!
I'm so thankful to have found this very informative video! Thank you Troy for posting this!
Glad it helped! Hopefully I’ll have some more puppet stuff up soon.
@@troypicou Do you work with marionettes at all?
@@laurabaldwin942 I do not.
Great video! I've never seen rod puppets so simply explained.
Jammie Lee thank you!
Fabulous. Why aren't more people watching this?!? Can't wait to make a puppet.
rebecca featherstone thanks, good luck with your puppet.
I would love to learn more!
This is so helpful! Have you ever considered selling the STLs for the hinged mouth plates?
Glad it helped! Working on a line of 3d puppet printed files.
@@troypicou Amazing! Can’t wait!!

Thank you. Just what I needed to learn to do.😊
Could you make a tutorial about creating an eye mechanism for a rod puppet? Awesome vid, thanks!
This has helped me so much. Thank you. God bless 🙌
The acorn is so cute omg! 😭😭😭
Great vids as usual, would love to see more eye mech stuff
Wow this is cool! I've got so many ideas running through my head right now!!
Will Keating thanks!
Could you make a video on how to make the eyes blink? Just getting into making puppets and I liked this tutorial. Thanks!
Thank you so much! I really enjoyed this video!!!
Great video.. Where can I get a hold of the 3d print stl files? 😁
Nice explanation- thanks!
You’re welcome!
Оличная идея и изделие!!!😊👍👍👍
I would like to see more tutorials!

Awesome. Please the behind scenes for more details.
Magnifico trabajo!!! gracias por compartirlo e iluminarnos!!!!!!...Saludos desde Puerto Rico!!
Would you be willing to share your 3d printing files for the rod puppet mechanism?
Flat Earth Talk sorry I don’t have them anymore.
Thank you! God bless 🙌
Great tutorials but the music is a little distracting at that volume. Would be much better at around 10-20% as background music :)
troy very nice video brother
Pawan Maurya thank you
Thanks!

Thank you, this will work on any size puppet. The key will be the tension in your return. On something large it will have to compensate for weight.
@@troypicou Okay, thank you! In that case, I definitely have some experimenting to do. Thank you so much for your help!
I love your foam carving puppets! may I ask what kind of foam you use to carve them?
Thanks, I use poly foam.
I am trying to make this but my puppet is a little bigger at least the mouth part. Is there a way to make this on a slightly bigger scale
Sure I do it all the time. It’s really as easy as scaling the mouth plat to fit your project. The concept works on anything.

Does this work for a mouth that needs to be carved from The head.
It can really work on anything you need it to, carved or patterned puppets. 😁
So helpful
What's an easy way to make eyelids cheap?
Pink Froth if you are just wanting a an eyelid glue some fabric right on the eye.
Troy Picou actually I was hoping to make the mechanism for an eyelid
Pink Froth check out the Stan Winston schools videos.
