    As with all the queens and princesses, Claude was nothing more than a breeding mare. It's sad. Thanks, Nieke! Loved the video.

    I wonder how different France would have been if women were allowed to rule. Think of all the capable women who were passed over throughout history.

    This post makes me realize yet again how Elizabeth I held onto her throne - by refusing to conform to the sexist standards or her era. No husband? Well, nobody you have to defer to. And best of all, no foreigner influencing English politics and upsetting the English aristocracy. No children? Well, no threat to your health and your life then. Maybe even... no sex? Considering how syphilis was ravaging Europe at the time, best to abstain - considering they had no idea about how disease was transmitted. Even when it came to going bald, like the best of actresses (or drag queens) she just had bigger and more imposing wigs made. Great post Nieke!

My cat Benjamin says hi to you and cute Rani your cat he sends his purrs. Spring time in Canada starts in March. We have March break next week. We have lots of snow in Ontario. Do you have any snow. Where you are? Have a great day see you next video greetings from Canada 😀

We don't have snow... we had a bit last week but it's by no means comparable to the amount of snow you have in Ontario. I live in Antwerp, Belgium.... we have a very moderate climate. Lots of rain, but little to no snow....

    Claude is a personal favorite of mine. Pious intelligent and dignified. It is known that the French court was some sort of a finishing school for contemporary ladies. We do know that Anne Boleyn was a lady-in-waiting for Claude but let me add that Anne Boleyn's uncle Thomas Howard 3rd Duke of Norfolk did not even want Anne to be married to Henry. Norfolk himself suggested Renee de France Claude's sister. Plus I know that scoliosis is not hereditary but could it be possible that François Hercule Le Duc de Alanson inherited his scoliosis from Claude?

    I have A question for you Kings of France-Please,Please, Please answer me my answer. Do you think Charles V should have went along and marry Mary Tudor (Henry's sister.)

    • @TheKingsofFrance
      @TheKingsofFrance  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Honestly, I don't know. I know Henry VII desired the wedding to strengthen the Austrian alliance against France, but Henry VIII's solution seemed somewhat more simple... Either way, her marriage would've shifted the political scene of the time and both kings had their reasons for wanting to strengthen bonds with a certain nation. Personally, I think that Mary herself was lucky to have eventually married Brandon, as she was one of the only women who had a true love match. And so, as a woman, I am glad for Mary things went the way they did.

    Why would you name a girl Claude?
    I wish Francis I was nicer to her. I'm not a feminist and don't cry about Claude having to have kids. It laughable how people ignore that king's had a duty to be studs just as much as their queens were brood mares. After the 2 boys any bedroom activity should have ceased due to her health and Francis I should have just had mistresses.

    • @emilybarclay8831
      @emilybarclay8831 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fathering a child has absolutely no impact on a man’s health or body. Back to back pregnancies DESTROYED her health. She died at 24 years old. Clearly her life was halved and halved again by her ‘duty’. And Claude is a unisex name in French.
