- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 3 ธ.ค. 2024
- The Portuguese aquascaping legend Filipe Oliveira shared his quick thoughts with us on almost all tanks at Green Aqua. We took his advice very seriously and started to do maintenances on the aquariums according to his views. Enjoy this one-take aquascape review video - brought to you in collaboration with Aquaflora.
The setup videos of each tank are available on our channel, listing all the gear and livestock used.
The video was recorded on March 8th, 2020.

Thanks guys!
Tamás caught me by surprise and we didn't prepare the analysis or the content of this video.
It was just my personal view and about what I thought would make the layouts look even better.
In the end, it's just about personal taste and having works from so many aquascapers, it makes even more difficult to understand their point of view and what they want to achieve to reach the final result.
I was just a bit picky, because in the end we don't have so much to complain, you guys are doing a great job in maintaining them.
Thanks for your analysis Filipe, as I said before: having an "outside professinal eye" telling us things we don't necessarily see in our day-by-day routine is priceless. It has been an honour to have you here again. Hope to host another full workshop with you sometimes in the future again! Cheers my friend.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Balbiiiiii! 💚
Watching Felipe 'diagnosing' each tanks bring backs memories of how each and every single tank is created by legends.... Masters.... 'Artists'... and how beautifully it has evolved just like aged wine getting better as yrs go. Kudos to the maintenance team not an easy job indeed.
Awaiting more 'Creations' from you guys and as always Stay Safe. Cheers
As a maintenance guy, I can assure you that It's very difficult to take care of someone's work. You need to capture his image and concept for the layout and try to make your best to make it work.
Thanks Alex for the kind comment and the support - as always. Yes, maintenance is not easy, we have two full-time team members Gábor and Ozzy (yeah... :) ) taking care of the tanks, they are super cool.
Wish we could have gotten my layout into the gallery a day earlier to show to Filipe and get comments-- he'd probably be pulling his hair out thinking about the maintenance for it. LOL
Anyway your layout is amazing, I think you are introducing a new concept of aquascaping
Not really Steven. They didn't ask me what I would change in the layout but in the maintenance. Being a fresh scape, it wouldn't have the time show any tips or improvements.
Yeah, we'll have to get him back to do a 15-minute analysis on just that one tank Steve. Haha.
@@FAAOAquascaping 👍👍👍👌👌👌😍
Felipe went ham with the tips.. such great insights on tank that we would otherwise won't be able to fault at all. 😀 A true master💪
Yeah, a professional outside eye is always good to have. It's been an honour to have his thoughts on maintenance.
Felipe sir we love you thanks for everything ❤
Rest in peace sir 🙏
Always nice to get to pick the brain of an expert. All of the tanks look stunning!
Yeah, it was useful indeed, we learned a lot from him - an outside expert eye is always welcome here.
Love it! Please continue to make great videos and continue to inspire us all! ✌️
That's the plan! Thanks for the kind feedback!
I have always loved Felipe his style of aquascaping. The part of aquascaping is that is always someones "canvas" and everyone sees fit as they prefer.
Yes, it is definitely an art-form with many styles. I really like his "finesse" in it, can learn a lot from him.
A legend critiquing other legends scapes cannot be easy. Filipe’s work has definitely been one of my biggest inspirations. Also a very funny guy.
Yeah, he know a lot and he is funny. It was good to have an outside pro opinion on tank maintenance. We learned a lot.
Filipe is awesome Aqucascaper...he is so nice and gentle person in this hobby... review of gallary is awesome..Filipe give so amazing tips for the tanks. Green aqua is doing wonderful job with beautiful care of plants.. trimming of plants is so amazing...all tanks are so healthy... thanks green aqua for giving motivation to us towards this hobby
Thanks so much for the kind comment as always, we appreciated Filipe's comments too. It was an honor to have him over.
Your tanks are beautiful with or without the critiques. I'm an amateur so just greatful to view Green Aqua tanks whenever I can. Thank you Balasz and team.💜💜💜
You are most welcome, thanks for the kind feedback. We like the Gallery too, but also know it is not perfect, and an outside eye of criticism is always welcome - especially if it comes from a pro like Filipe.
I enjoyed hearing his comments. I love mosses, but struggle to keep them properly trimmed also. Take care during this crazy time. I hope your country is managing to keep this horrid virus in check.
Cheers Ginger, thanks for watching - again. Good to have his pro advice on trimming. Stay safe.
I really love this channel, not only because it discusses the beauty of the aquascape world, but because they give Indonesian subtitles. ha ha ha
We try to translate the content automatically into as many languages as possible. Thanks for watching!
@@GreenAquaShop it's very valuable to us amateur scapers. and that shows that this channel is quality and inspiring. thank you for your hard work. 👍
You're welcome, thanks for watching us!
Filipe is a big master 😉.
Yes, he is and his outside eye has seen things I don't even see when looking at our own tanks. Good advice.
I always wish I had a gallery very beautiful and maintained tanks
You can do it! Many did that in their homes even.
Yeah I will soon construct a room in my property just for aquariums
Cool! Good luck with that, I'm sure it will be stunning!
Love filipe! Hope invite him to a New workshop and see the whole footage, cheers from Argentina 🇦🇷
Sure, that is gonna definitely happen in the future!
Me: there is absolutely nothing to be changed about Green Aqua’s displays
Filipe: *hold my ADA*
Haha, there's always room to improve. For everybody. 😜
I’ve got to be honest, Filipe is also one of the best aquascaper that opened my thoughts about tiny little things that I never thought about. Loved how he explained a small, but important aspect in this hobby. Thanks guy for another quality content today! 🙏🏼
Well, he has been in the hobby when we only chased women, or something. :) He inspired us all and it was great to have his 'outside eye' in the Gallery, opening ours for things to be done. We respect him enormously.
Green Aqua Haha, get that women join this hobby too. Good to have him and you guys in this community. 💚
Good to have you for support! :) Cheers!
I'm catching up on your guys videos, I fell a little behind. But I absolutely loved this one, because it was nice to see someone else's opinion and hear their critique. Maybe in the future you could have more of the pros give feedback too! It was awesome!
Cheers, glad you have some time for the videos again. Yeah, we really learned a lot from Filipe, it is very good to us professionally to get feedback from a trained expert, someone who has a fresh eye. Will do that again.
Awesome feedback Filipe. I love that pretty much all your feedback was so positive and definitely a great way to improve the layouts. Honestly I couldn't think of it myself which suggests how much more I need to learn.
Yes, he has a vast knowledge and it is always good to have an outside eye to critic our work. It has been an honour to have him over.
Every single tank looks amazing and each have their own unique story, no change needed imo!
Thanks for the kind comment Jerome. I think there's always room to improve, and an outside professional opinion is always welcome. We respect Filipe for his ideas and we are thankful to him.
Great overview by Filipe
Yes Sam, I agree, good to have a pro analysis on the tank maintenance.
O Brasil está aprendendo também essa arte!
We learn from Brazil a lot!
Hello green aqua!!!
Thank you!!!
Love from Greece🌞❤️🇬🇷
You're welcome, as always, thx for watching!
very constructive review by Felipe. he really highlighted solid points for the maintenance team to consider. I really love Fukada's tank 💚. Its coming along very nicely.
Yeah, we love Filipe's insight on our tanks. It is so great to have an outside professional eye to see things not obvious to us - walking by the tanks every day. It has been an honor to have him over.
Love the video. Very informative. Thanks Green Aqua you inspired me to have pet fish
You are welcome, good luck with your scapes! Cheers.
Viva Portugal ... grande Felipe
Yeah!
Nice aqua scapes
just on a different note though
social distancing which is nigh on impossible to do anywhere enclosed is what ive noticed except outside, so i can appreciate how difficult it is to do when you have to aquascape in a group
Was recorded at the beginning of March, all details in the description. :)
Someone must, however, comment on these beautiful reservoirs. As for me, all the tanks are unique because they are made from the heart and with passion 👍👍 Greetings to the entire Green Aqua Team ✌ 👍
Thanks so much, we like these tanks too, but it was good to have a pro opinion on them, we all need to grow.
Thanks Filipe for the tips, I’ve been thinking of thinning out the sand in the foreground of my scape and this confirms it 💚🌱
Yepp, now we have to think how to do it when there's not much space - to avoid the Amazonia to come forward on it. :)
How many mounths did you wait for the plants of the Josh Sim’s tank grew very well?
It actually grew really fast, it was like this after a month or so.
Nagy érdeklődéssel néztem anno a Tropicáriumban is a biotóp medencéket... És a hévizi tó kifolyásánál a valisnériákat, igaz azok nem őshonosak ott, de jól néz ki - a sügérekkel meg minden.
A FAN FROM INDIA
Cheers, thx for the support!
awesome, he didn't sugar coat it. very good insights.
Totally agree!
Tommy: I forgot who made this tank
Filipe: It’s Fukada-san
Tommy: Ahh yaaa
All that while Fukada-san in the back 😂😂
RIP Filipe. So much good vibes and knowledge from him
Hi guys, very interesting short video, and how everyone has a different perspective of an aquascape, lots of useful information too . Very enjoyable.
Thank you .
Short? It was 13 minutes, haha. Anyway, it was good to have Filipe over, we learned a lot from him - as always. It is strange how one can get used to their own tanks, and not see some mistakes any more with time. Good to have an outside critical eye.
Yes, but watching a green Aqua video, time just disappears. 😇
But I totally agree with your comments.
Cheers!
Wow! we are lucky! A video in-between videos XD, great vid GA! its a good video to watch, I brought info out of it for many different scape designs, how they should be composed, and maintained, it's great! alright, as always, from Australia, have a great week and see you next Thursday!
Cheers, we somehow managed to edit and squeeze this in between the regular videos. :) Thanks for watching this too!
Can we take a minute to appreciate Tamas beard!!! Looks great bro
Thank you, you made my day 😂
@@333danyi you are most welcome
There, you made Tommy answer. Kudos! Haha.
saya sangat menyukai content green aqua...salam dari Indonesia
Cheers, thanks for watching us!
Nice. This is some very useful maintenance tips
I totally agree with you!
At 4:37 I remember watching when this tank was cleaned. It's so pretty but, yes, I would like to see more wood and some of the negative space that was in the original.
Thanks for the feedback!
All the tanks looks so beautiful 😍 thanks Filipe for the great tips, we always learn something. God bless guys👍👌
What's with this new profile picture? I liked the old one better. Haha.
@@GreenAquaShop 😂😂you're right, that one is not good. ok I found it, I will use a charcoal drawing I made last year about my family. much better what do you think? :))
There. :)
If you applied some of the suggested tips, can you show the before & afters?
Will definitely do. Not directly though, but you'll observe them in the future images of the different tanks in the next videos.
Grande Filipe!!!! Hehe!! 😁😁 Nice to see another great video.
Thanks for the kind feedback Bruno! Cheers.
I think it would be interesting to see one of the masters create a terrarium/vivarium for tree dweilling snakes or a chameleon. I’m wondering if they are able to incorporate the philosophy they have in a different kind of enclosure and still make it suitable for the animals.
We have a panther chameleon at Green Aqua, his name is Bruce. But the terrarium we made for him is not of high quality - no time for that, need to do one soon, and we will do a video about it for sure.
@@GreenAquaShop That would be great! Can't wait for the result! Love your channel by the way. Keep up the good work!
I wanted to do that for a long time now, it will come soon. Cheers. Stay tuned.
Wish I could be there to review it myself. Loved it.
Glad to read that, thanks for the feedback!
This is very interesting to review the masterpieces by any other Masteraquascaper , this could be a series, every time a Masteraquascaper visits to do this round of review/ point of view on the Toptanks. Hope you are all doing well, stay safe please.
Not a bad idea Ed, thanks for that! Will try to do the analysis with our future guests.
I wish we had stores like Green Aqua in Australia.
Me too Eric. That would be great for the hobby!
Leave the poor moss alone Felipe!!! :) Great and informative video about keeping everything in shape.
The problem of the moss is that if you don't trim it, it turns into big balls and look weird on the wood. Then it doesn't get ligh enough close to wood and will rot. Moss is amazing and I love it, but it's so difficult to keep it nice and short.
I agree with Filipe here, not happy how the moss turns out in the long run.
@@FAAOAquascaping What an honor to have you respond!!!!! I totally understand what you mean with the moss and will put this knowledge into my aresenal.
No Chia Pets in my aquarium lolol
Interesante video.thanks you green aqua
You are welcome, glad you liked it. Thanks for watching!
Love the rocky tank at 6 minutes in. Looks so real.
Cheers, it's a huge tank too, 650 liters.
@@GreenAquaShop Yea, good job its got a decent size light over it.
3x ADA Solar RGB-s we have a setup video on it on this channel. Cheers.
@@GreenAquaShop Thanks. I'll have a look.
what is the white background aquarium they are using?
It's just a normal white film - the one you can get in any hardware stores and it's sold for windows and showers.
3:01 Tomi's face - 'This is actually my tank' (please be nice)
Haha he should be more confident. He is better than most of us.

Green Aqua Yeah, his tank is the nicest in the gallery on par with Filipe’s
👍🏻
The big tank from Balazs, I LOVE all the black stones, the black/green contrast 😍
There's a setup video on that, you might want to check that out. Cheers, thx for the feedback.
There's a setup video on that, you might want to check that out. Cheers, thx for the feedback.
That‘s true. A very nice tank. But two things could be better. First, I think the path is too straight. A little more curvy makes it more interesting and mysterious. Secondly, a little bit more plants in the foreground creats more details. That’s my opinion.
That was intended to be a minimalist and very quick scape - not a lot of planning went into it - as you can see in the setup video. That shows. :) Anyways, this tank - the layout actually - was sold to a customer, so I'll need to do another big build in it soon.
May I know how thick (glass) is the Balazs's tank please?
15 mm if I remember well, but I would do thicker.
@@GreenAquaShop ya, I agreed :D
No, it is 20mm actually, and still would do thicker, there is a 3-5mm bend in the middle.
@@GreenAquaShop thicker is good, hopefully nothing will happen on the fish tanks. I learned about the problem when my tank glass was only 6mm thick. 😂
my favorite is the tree one done by a graphic designer ;)
do you have a video on how to duplicate the tree?
I would add a waterfall and fish lol
LOL, we have three videos on the setup of this tank - from last summer.
@@GreenAquaShop hmmm going to have to do some MORE research :)
Gogogo. :) Enjoy.

Great video! 12:17 some video editing on the algae :))
Sure, even we have algae from time to time, I think I talked about that in another video. :)
let's make this channel a million subscribers...

Hello honey, glad you liked this! 💚Filipe for president!
A türelmedet kérjük. Köszi, hogy nézel minket!

Yepp, good people.
Did u all just ignore Fukada san over the back? hahaha
Haha. When the masters are in the bkgd. :D Well, this was recorded after his workshop and his duel with Steven, so he was just taking in what Filipe said.
Hi im from spain and have a question.
in a video you said that to have less than 120 ppm in the water is better to havent algaes. I use OR water and add a GH plus until 120ppm but when i add after the iron and micros mi water has 300ppm.
How do you do for have only 120ppm in your tanks? Thank you.
I believe I answered your previous post on this. Cheers.

This is cool. We are so different. I like how we like different things, life is colorful. Love it.
Felipe Oliveira > Christiano Ronaldo
Kinda' yeah. :)
Sorry I had to stop watching could not take this guy love all the tanks
I think you haven't got the point of this video.
I wasn't talking about the aquascape itself, but how it is being maintained and what can be improved.
Taking care of someone's tank is really difficult and follow his thoughts is even worse...
This video was just some insights of what I would do differently or what could be improved, no matter if you like or not the layout (that doesn't matter at all, you must keep doing it even if you hate it!)
No worries Roch, as I said in my previous reply to you I (Balazs) personally needed this and we're gonna talk about his views with the maintenance crew for sure. He has good points. I'm sure any pro aquascaper would appreciate my opinion in regards with their works - and I would be even more critical than Filipe, he is a gentleman. But this is why I love this hobby, this is what brings us forward. This is a cultural difference between Asian and Western aquascapers too. When - say - a Japanese aquascaper from TAU asks for another aquascaper's opinion, he will get a 2 page very critical analysis, he listens to it and takes it in, then acts as he wishes. In Europe we do like:
"- What do you think of my tank?
-It's gorgeous mate, top 100 work".
Duh. Haha.
