I was a corrections officer for years, before that I worked for the highway patrol here in Ohio. As a corrections officer, I would have inmates ask me to see new movies and storytell it back to them during their time in the chow hall. Honestly that was one of the best experiences that I had as a corrections officer. I valued that time, because I got to see people that made a few mistakes, act like regular people. I enjoyed that time because whatever prejudice might have been implanted in my head as an extension of law enforcement, was wiped away by seeing people sitting at the edge of their chairs, hanging on to every word I said because they were so interested in the story. If you know anybody that's ever been incarcerated, remember, they are just people
Damn that's crazy man, I'm glad to hear there's some of you who still treat them as humans and not all animals and a number. While yes some people are monsters and deserve to be there I mean I'd never shed a tear over a child predator or killer of a innocent person being there, but I always hear and see just emotionless people happy to see a young 16/17 yr old kid who's had nothing but terrible situation after terrible situation go to prison and laughing that "yeah throw away the key, hope they get violated(we know what that means)" and basically just wants to treat them as rabid animals. They seem to forget the fact that if you treat an animal or person like a rabid animal for so long it WILL BECOME said rabid animal or act that way. Not all prisoners are lifers hell most aren't which mean they will be back into society 1 day and those who are happy to see them be treated like an animal don't think about what the wild animal will do once back in society or to them "the wild" It's pretty dumb imo to have that mindset I want them to be actually rehabbed inside so they can come out better than before and potentially be dangerous to the rest of us. I truly don't see how people don't understand that! "YEAH LET EM GET BEAT, GRAPED, AND TURNED INTO A SAVAGE FOR YEARS THAT'LL LEARN EM!!!" I spent my 24th birthday in there and didn’t really know how to feel it about it. My celly was 22 with a 35 year sentence💯 One thing i can say i learned about it is, once your out of sight and out of mind the world will continue to spin without you, it’s like being dead just real far from home with little communication. I worked in a prison system for about 10 years. I would run the church services for all the religions on the weekends and most of the guys who attended had 10 or more years. I would bring food for them to try and movies for them to watch. The warden didn’t understand how important it was for me to do that until he stopped it. Guys having a little bit of the free world to talk about amongst themselves or with family meant a lot. It could change the whole morale of the prison. My Warden learned that the hard way.
I swear when I walked out those gates after 7 years the world seemed brighter like the colors were popping out to me but it was weird seeing everyone with their heads down looking at phones
He doesn't seem to understand that he wasn't kidnapped and put in prison. His own choices and decisions put him there. Today, in our dumbed down society people do not take accountability and do not comprehend the fact their own actions determine where they end up in life. Common sense 101.
I remember reading where a guy got outta prison and got picked up. Was in for 15 years and heard a voice giving direction (GPS) and tripped his shit over it. He was like "a b***h is telling you where to go every turn over your speaker?"

Respect to this real talk! Only when you're stuck somewhere and you can't leave like jail, or a hospital bed do you value your right to walk out of a door, take a shower, ride in a car, and receive your daily bread. Every night I thank God for allowing me to sleep in MY bed because I know where I could be. 🙏🏽
Yep, when I was growing up (90s) baggy pants were the cool thing, whether you were a skater, rapper, or whatever. Nowadays kids are all about the skinny jeans. I played a live show a few years ago and I had some dude come up to me complaining that my pants weren't tight enough, lmao.
I appreciate real talk from a real brother. He reminded me of one of my enduring memories from the time I spent working at a Correctional facility It was about this old dude, had been locked up for the past 30+ years, and, EVERYTHING about "the world" (outside of incarceration) literally scared him shitless, about having to deal with it. When he went in, NOTHING that we take for granted about seeing, doing, was familiar to him, and, when he was taken into a place like Wal-Mart, not only was he overwhelmed by the absolute variety of things to choose from (in one location), but, because when you're locked up, everything you do is being observed, overseen, when he was in unfamiliar surroundings, he felt like all eyes were on him, everyone's watching him. I tried to assure him that it was more likely that NO ONE was paying him any additional, special attention, and that, if he needed some help, he'd probably have just as hard a time finding an employee to help him as would anyone else...THAT's how much attention they're paying just to you! On a certain level, he could comprehend that it was probably just his own paranoia, but still, that didn't change things any, though. The night before he was released, he told me what he planned to do. His son had told him about the great sandwiches at this place called Schlotzky's (sp), and, for years, he'd been yearning to try one. So, he was going to get a taxi, go have him a Scholtzky's sandwich, then, buy him a six-pack, get drunk & get arrested, so that he would have had his taste of "freedom", but, would be back where he was most comfortable, felt "safety". You've taken these people TOTALLY away from any decent society, locked them into a game called "Corruption", forced them to have to live (or die) in that alternate reality, and then, you let them out, and, expect....WHAT?! There is ZERO of that thing called "rehabilitation", to counter all the "indoctrination" that goes into the making of an inmate, thus, when you throw that inmate back into "polite society", he almost has no choice but to react as does a fish out of the water...his chance of survival are slim-to-none. That's why we should celebrate those who can manage the difficult task of re-entering society, and, functioning well within it, because, they've overcome the odds, and, they possess the knowledge & experience to be able to help us unlock the key to helping others make the successful transition back into being a healthy person and member of "the world", again.

"I ain't cellin up with no white boy, y'all know I don't fuck with white people like that Idk why you'd put him in my room. Dude shoulda got his ass beat the second the cops left the day room. It's a different world. Always remember the loudest in the room is ALWAYS the weakest. I ended up be coming best friends with this Puerto Rican dude named Omar. That's one reason I try to keep my freedom. jail and prison is one place that you don't want to be. Your freedom is always worth more than a little money
Real shit. I battle with thinking making money any way I can is important to have a lifestyle I want. But always remind myself having material things I won’t truly remember or care about after I get it isn’t worth my freedom. Also prison takes a toll on ppl around you just as much as yourself
No joke I worked with a guy that was a huge dealer in the area covering 4 states, what he said stuck with me and will forever, he said he made over a million dollars easy, had so much money that he didn't even know how much the total was, long story short when he said all that bc he went to prison for a long time, I asked him so how do you feel about all that and where you are now like a normal joe? Without missing a beat he said none of the money or fancy things I had were worth it none of it and anyone thinking about it or doing it doesn't have a clue their making a mistake

If you know anybody that's ever been incarcerated, remember, they are just people
Which one you work at ? I was in circleville 2014-2018
Not all prisoners are lifers hell most aren't which mean they will be back into society 1 day and those who are happy to see them be treated like an animal don't think about what the wild animal will do once back in society or to them "the wild"
It's pretty dumb imo to have that mindset I want them to be actually rehabbed inside so they can come out better than before and potentially be dangerous to the rest of us. I truly don't see how people don't understand that! "YEAH LET EM GET BEAT, GRAPED, AND TURNED INTO A SAVAGE FOR YEARS THAT'LL LEARN EM!!!" Sir what about when the savage is released ans runs into you 1 day? 🤔🤔🤔 exactly.

He doesn't seem to understand that he wasn't kidnapped and put in prison. His own choices and decisions put him there. Today, in our dumbed down society people do not take accountability and do not comprehend the fact their own actions determine where they end up in life. Common sense 101.

🤣🤣🤣
I appreciate real talk from a real brother. He reminded me of one of my enduring memories from the time I spent working at a Correctional facility
It was about this old dude, had been locked up for the past 30+ years, and, EVERYTHING about "the world" (outside of incarceration) literally scared him shitless, about having to deal with it.
I didn’t even no black was locked up ..a lot of people like to say he fell off when the truth is he wasn’t even free to compete..salute to him for having a constructive mind state n peaceful spirit ..
