I love the moment where Nick talks about his past relationship and what it meant to him. That's beautiful stuff all around. And I didn't think I'd be saying that about a Fallout 4 character.

I really like how you have Nate reflect on his life before being frozen, something I feel Bethesda really missed out on. Unfortunately, I don't usually have Nick as my companion so I don't really know much about him, like the part when he mentions Jenny.
I love how the engine looks on the whole area. Hope you're proud of it. Would love to see more animations like this.
Yeah. I like the idea of Nick and Nate bonding over memories and trauma from the pre-war; even if Nick recognizes that he's not really the original Nick, the memories are still there like with Nate, and Nick's had much longer to come to terms with the circumstances, while Nate's trauma is still fresh to him.
Edit: I can also appreciate this as someone who is coming up on one year since I had my bisexual awakening, so seeing two bisexual male characters in a gay romance bonding over grief related to previous heterosexual relationships is actually a pretty good hook for me, it seems.

More character development than Nate ever had in only 5 minutes
To be fair Nate as a character was what you made him. In the more he did horrible things up in Canada during the war (it’s confirmed he’s the laughing soldier in power armor from the opening cutscene in fallout 1) but as soon as the fog clears in that mirror, Nate is whoever you want him to be. Weather he left that side of him behind to be a loving husband and father or he was just always a horible person is up to the player. That’s the point of an rpg. Every fallout game does this in one way or another. People just hate Nate because he talks

I'm not saying Nate didn't do horrible things during his employment, I'm saying he's in fact not a war criminal.
Also Nate would have been retired a year or two BEFORE the laughing at war crimes incident, according to actual lore.

Found this on Tumblr. Watching it legit felt like watching a movie. I feel like I went through the five stages all the way to ACTUALLY CRYING. Ughhhh it's just so freaking good, so the little details, from the way Nate's hair falls, to Nick tossing his cig out the window. I just don't understand how someone can make cgi look so realistic, even something like holding a hat, yanking a coat off the stand, IT'S SO AMAZING 😭

Love how every scene looks so beautiful along with the emotions present throughout the animation. Having both of them reflect on their past marriages and their future is wonderful in building their relationship for why they're together. Nick's speech towards the end was wonderful and touching! :)

I know it's not much to say this is written better than Bethesda could've hoped, but this Nate who struggles with his emotions for somebody new in a new, changed world and his lingering feelings for a woman and world long gone is really powerful. Jake and Dillon did a great job bringing these emotions to life and your animation here is fantastic, it's been great watching you work and i'm so glad you uploaded this seperate.

God i love it so much. The mocap, the little movements, the way the music gets louder at 1:00, even the lighting looks phenomenal in the UE5. I love it.

I’ve never played a Fallout game, I know next to nothing about the lore, but the raw amount of storytelling done in just 5 minutes is astounding. It’s just art. This is actual short film art.

Honestly, this is... really well done, and.. quite frankly a beautiful love story/melodrama/rom-dram, and I say this as someone who has been writing for 7 to 8-ish years of my life, especially romance stories (No, I have none published, they're for friend viewership only). As much of a memelord Neo is, he's... really fucking good at making short films. The writing's great, got awesome VAs, incredible animation work and models/detail. If I never knew Neo existed or if this was fan made, I could totally see this being an official Bethesda animation. But, we don't have that timeline.
