    This isn't difficult, yet so more complicated than older models where the plugs very easy to access.

      Make sure you secure the connectors to avoid loosening with vibration.

    what about the battery terminals do they need to be removed prior this change ?

  • @dpz1985dp
    @dpz1985dp 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Socket has to be magnetic right? No other way to pull them out?

    • @AcuraAddicted
      @AcuraAddicted  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. A typical spark plug socket has a small rubber insert that grabs on to the spark plug tip and holds it while you take it out.

    So my battery is good and my alternator is good and starter is also good but my car struggles to turn on I wanted to know if it could be the spark plugs or what is your opinion on it

    • @AcuraAddicted
      @AcuraAddicted  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very often the problem may be in the ground cable, so have a look at that. For the alternator I’ve also heard many cases when the shop said “it’s fine” when it actually wasn’t.

    I'm hoping someone can help.
    2006 Acura TSX I'm trying to remove the spark plugs but seems like my socket is too thick. It goes down the spark plug wells but it hits the rubber (thing) I think it's a gasket. What brand socket did you use?

    • @AcuraAddicted
      @AcuraAddicted  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used a standard spark plug (5/8") socket that is usually available in every socket tool set. It has a rubber insert inside on the top that grabs onto the spark plug top and holds it, so you can pull it out when you unscrew it.

    Anyone using ruthenium plugs??

  • @GahlicNoodles
    @GahlicNoodles 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you have to gap the spark plugs or does it come gapped?

    • @AcuraAddicted
      @AcuraAddicted  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      All Iridium plugs come pregapped and the tips should not be touched as it might result in scraping a very thin iridium layer. They also come with a thin layer of lube already applied to the threads, no additional lube necessary.

    When do you recommend replacing the coils?

    • @AcuraAddicted
      @AcuraAddicted  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      When they develop cracks or show signs of significant oil deposits (starts to happen when the tube seals go bad). For me I only replaced them at 175K miles.

    Hi---I have 125k and never changed spark plugs. I would do it myself but I think I will take it to shop and pay the $150, knowing me I will mess something up.
    Also, I noticed my car vibrates when I stop at a red light but it goes away when I step on gas pedal. Is this something I can ignore? what is could the cause be? Thx

    • @AcuraAddicted
      @AcuraAddicted  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Spark plugs are supposed to be changed at 100K miles, but, of course, they can last longer. If you are not confident enough to change the spark plugs, I think it's a wise decision to go to a shop. Ask them to give you the old plugs back so you could take a look at their condition if you are curious.
      As for vibrations, this can be a number of things: engine and transmission mounts, torque converter, etc. I have vibration too at stops and low speeds. I think my engine/transmission mounts have gone bad.

      bro i never changed my spark plugs ill i had a misfire and my check engine light came on. It was on my 2014 honda accord, I dont really work on cars. But it was really easy, as long as you have the correct tools. You should give it a try next time

      @@AcuraAddicted i got Bosch plugs from auotzone. Im going to pull them off. What am i lookong for to indicate whats wrong? The car was fine before that. Have had it for 2 yrs and my mechanic recommend replacing them. I thought it would be easy so i did it my self. Now im stuck

    • @AcuraAddicted
      @AcuraAddicted  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dpz1985dp Yeah, I do not recommend non-OEM plugs for any Hondas or Acuras (which is also an opinion of a lot of Honda mechanics). Get OEM ones that match the car (get them from Rockauto to save money). Wrong plus can have different dimensions (of everything, plug length, tip, distance, etc).
