Thanks for the great breakdown! Aiyuk's footwork, lean, feel for defenders and deep understanding of leverage on the field throughout the route is exceptional. For example, on some of his longer runs he made steps to set up (drive off) and then move away from leverage by multiple defenders. Agree he's a perfect fit for Kyle Shanahan's offense and will do unusually well in it.
And that's in addition to his elite catch radius, hand size, burst. He did a 40 inch vertical leap and 128 inch broad jump at the Combine. His coach Herm Edwards said when healthy he's a high 4.3 40, so he's got speed in addition to burst, footwork and agility. (Aiyuk had surgery in April to repair a core muscle injury. He ran a 4.5 at the Combine with the injury, which is arguably part of the reason why the 49ers were able to get him at 25. Had he run a 4.3, he probably would have gone higher.)
In Kyle's offense he has the potential to be a very highly productive receiver. Kyle will know exactly how to get him open, into favorable leverage at all levels, etc. Aiyuk may be even more of a YAC machine in the pros than he was in college.
Comparisons to Sanders and Deebo make sense. Agree Sanders has crisper routes and movement, but he's also highly experienced.
Keep in mind that since Aiyuk was a Junior College transfer and played behind N'Keal Harry in 2018, he had only 1 year as the primary receiver at Arizona State. He's still very much learning the game, has a very high upside, and has a lot of partially developed talent to work with.
4:55 The QB may have led Aiyuk inside to allow him to spin away from the overpursuing defender. Both QB and WR read the angles and leverage well for that route. (The huge catch radius, soft hands, great footwork and body control should make adjusting to passes easier for Brandon.)
P.S. Like Deebo (and Hurd), Aiyuk is a former running back. They run like it too.

How did people not know about this guy we got a steal! He will be the best receiver in the draft I believe it.

Teams did know about him, but his 4.5 40 time at the Combine hurt. Herm Edwards said he is a high 4.3 when healthy. Aiyuk had core muscle surgery in April to correct the problem he had when he ran at the combine.
Aiyuk had a 40 inch vertical leap and 128 inch broad jump at the combine, which are elite, as are his catch radius and hand size. But I think his intangibles of route running, footwork, body control and knowledge of leverage throughout the field are even better.
49ers moved up to take Aiyuk because they knew other teams were looking at him before their original pick at 31.
Fans probably didn't know him because he didn't play in the SEC, Big 10, etc.

So how is he a better fit than Jeudy or Lamb, schemewise? What does he bring to the table that the coaches and management had him rated as their top receiver? To the point where had Kinlaw not been available, they would have drafted Brandon?
    Topic for next video?

I love Sanders a ton and he was very helpful in making the SB run. I hope that Aiyuk can polish just a few areas and he'll be better than Sanders. one of the issues I've had with Sanders throughout his career is he is a fall down catcher on deep routes. He was great after the catch but would just go out of bound rather than throwing a stiff arm and at least try to break something, and he wasn't the meanest blocker and those are all areas Aiyuk is already better in so I can't wait to see this young man grow in this offense.

Aiyuk brings some immediate tools to the table and has long term developmental traits too. Can't wait to see what SF does with him.

@@othelloalford21 lol Nit picky... 500 yards in 10 games is below average. SMH. man everyone and the dog knows that receiver was a huge hole in this offense. Sanders is super talented but one of the main reasons he didn't consistently stay playing at a high level is because he wouldn't keep working on getting better.

Thanks again man, great work. Going to check if you have an Isiah Simmons vid. Would also be awesome to see a Kyler Murry video too (plus deandre Hopkins! ?). Thanks again man keep up the great work

@@TheScoutingAcademy 2019 has Aiyuk's breakout year with Harry gone. His steep trajectory as a JUCO transfer and single year primary receiver are impressive. His talent is very high and his skills are good. He will improve a lot with coaching and experience. He's a bit of a raw talent, but there's much to work with. And he's a perfect fit for Kyle's offense, as you note.

  • @LissaBroyles
    @LissaBroyles 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Another thing to consider. Why Lamb, Jeudy, Jefferson & Ruggs were catching passes from Heisman winners & runner ups their whole careers, the Arizona state QB was rated #72 by Pro Football Focus & was the least accurate passer in the PAC 12.
Put Aiyuk on Oklahoma vs the pathetic Big 12 defenses & I bet his stats would look just like Lamb's.
