Agreed I still don’t get why they introduced fighting styles. It wasn’t innovative and screwed up the gameplay. Not to mention they literally removed it out of the next game either way so it was completely pointless.
As a kid this was my favorite svr game and the one I put the most hours into, mainly because of the interactions and moves you could do with the weapons and the ring. But the 24/7 mode made absolutely no sense. One week the same people that were kicking your ass in the ring can suddenly become your buddies the next. Crazy how my character was getting beat up at all in 24/7 considering that my guy was lifting enough weights in the cutscenes to be the freakin hulk.
Absolutely! The sad trend is for many video games, and especially sports games, is that the quality has gone down in the name of chasing microtransactions! Before sports games had much online modes, they HAD to make pretty good season modes, gameplay and other options because nobody would get the game if it wasn't great out of the box. Now, with DLC and microtransactions, these games are less than quality out of the box on purpose! So parts of them can be unlocked or downloaded for more money. This trend isn't getting much better. But the truth remains, yes, there is more than enough technology to have games today that have ALL of the good features of previous games and more. Just not profitable enough for video game developers to do that. There are indie games as an alternative, but indie games don't get official licenses so sports games are kinda screwed.
I always prefer when WWE games allow me to do *more* than what is done in the tv shows. Just because no one in modern WWE has ever done the "ladder-helicopter" move, it doesn't mean we shouldn't be able to do it in the game.

Roddy Piper did appear in the season mode of SvR 2007, or am I wrong? I loved SvR 2008. It was my first wrestling game, so it was just special to me. I know the game wasn't very popular in general and the earlier games were better, but SvR 2009 was definitely a bigger step back for me.

Another thing that made this one of the worst SVR games is that they introduced fighting styles which restricted you from choosing certain moves. Like, you couldn’t make a proper accurate moveset because of that horrible game design.
@@declangaming24It wasn’t realistic it locked certain moves to a certain fighting style. Triple H couldn’t do his neckbreaker because it was locked behind another fighting style. Everyone also pretty much played the exact same with little differences.
@@acceptable1609 they have there unique finishers and certain other moves the styles rey mysterio with the flips and stunts, great khali being tall and very strong, Undertaker being good with strikes, cm punk technical wrestler, ECW wrestlers could use weapons in unique ways Having Terry funk vs Undertaker in a hell in a cell match and Terry funk gets a 7 week injury for falling off the cell
There’s also an animation in SVR08 where when your opponent is laying down, you can press a button where you sit on top of them and punch them, but you can’t do that on wwe 2k either which is kind of disappointing. I loved doing that move in “first blood” matches when I was a kid. It really gave the game a hardcore image, and fueled my childhood belief that wrestling was real. 🤣
why 2K can't add some unique interaction with various object? backstage brawls are so boring to do nowadays, they removed car interactions too in WWE 2K22, that was one of the most disappointing things about last year's game
I do remember that season modes in SvR 2009-2011 u still could be a WWE superstar and go after any title but u had to earn enough stars to challenge for said title and it would also unlock a new match in season mode
They need to bring everything back as possible from the first Smackdown game on PS1, bring every single move back! And screw this political correctness bs!

It’s gameplay was limited, the roster was tiny, 24/7 mode was good in concept but bad in execution and made no sense half the time, you couldn’t use ECW wrestlers in season mode, the cutscenes got repetitive, it combined season and GM mode again something that makes no sense.

I remember this game fondly because I was like 6 when I played it and because the only things I knew about WWE at that time were things from 05, 06 and 07 (my father even told 6 year old me why Benoit wasn’t in the game) I thought Jeff Hardy was some new guy and basically fell in love with him at first sight like a lot of kids do. Also being able to sprint in any direction was an amazing addition. But I also remember it feeling like something was missing, probably because every new WWE game was removing cool stuff every time and even little me noticed that SVR 2008’s backstage brawls were trash compared to 2007’s, and nothing beat the intro of the first game I ever played which was the first ever SmackDown vs Raw which hold some of my earliest memories as a human on this planet 😂
I consider them two variations of the same game. There's lots of things cooler in SVR 07 especially some characters like kurt angle, rvd, chris benoit ,etc but i'd say SvR 08 is still a little better

One of my favorite things to do in SVR 08 was play the 'King Of The Ring' tournament simply to watch the celebration. The ability to choose your queen was amazing. I'm so upset that it isn't a feature in games now.
Too bad everything else was so dumb or made pointless changes like the fixed fighting styles and downgraded roster and the idiotic 24/7 mode repeating the same scenes.

Also, in svr 08 you could do table finishers (in some of the animations, the wrestler climbs on the table to rise the opponent and execute a move like pedigree, ddt) like powerbomb, chokeslam and some other and you are able (that was removed do not know why) to use the slingshot catapult against a table, leaning on a turnbuckle, I loved that move. It looked violent but it was cool ahahah!
I'll basically sum it up for you smackdown vs raw is what wwe looked in are eyes as kids and wwe is what we see it as now plus 2k likes to make it realistic if we had it like the og jeez this game would actually be funner than what I t was I definitely would enjoy it even now

i love wwe2k14 i do,i have a great time with it,its 98 percent good but yeah alot of those things i do miss here,bring them back,especially the robot claw in the glove section,i miss making my favorite character the cowboy from hell and i miss having mixed gender matches superstars vs divas,ultimate control moves with the right analog stick(r3) oh so many things i miss when they went wwe2k15 and beyond,they took my happiness and fun away and i want it all back all in for wwe2k24 40 years of wrestlemania year thats what it should be called because if ww2k14 was 30 years of wrestlemania than wwe2k24 should be called wwe24 40 years of wrestlemania and i want it to be the biggest roster of superstars and diva old,new,dead alive from all the past games oh so much to be put in wwe2k24 40 years of wrestlemania don't forget the create a finisher/signature moves as well and many other create a item or whatever you want as well,superstars,divas title belts and many other things as well don't forget those,so yeah all i am is asking for is for perfection a 110 percent amazing wrestling game just for once please. so spread the word and send emails or letters to the people that make these games and give us these many things back to us for wwe2k24 40 years of wrestlemania.

I didn't like SvR 08 but the Hardcore match and the levels of interactions were so good.
24/7 mode was terrible. Your character spent every cutscene getting beat up backstage

Yeah you could do that as a brawler. Different fighting styles had all sorts of useful moves which was awesome
