Depends, there is a maximum wheel and tyre size for a given car and application that works best, so be aware that you don't go for something excessive because bigger brakes aren't always better either.
Another important thing to look at when getting new wheels is center bore size. Want it to be oem size or get hub centric rings to make them fit perfectly or else your car will shake at higher speeds.
Also of note, while both focus on speed, rally rims are quite different from track ones, most notably in the lip where it meets the sidewall of your, hopefully also rally spec, tire. It all is designed specifically for durability and the maintaining of the tire bead at high slip angles over harsh terrain. If you think tracking a cast wheel is doomed for failure, just try rallying one.
I only know the names of wheels in BeamNG Drive, for instance Enkei RP01s are Okudai PR01s. My fave is the Folk NGT-2 but I don’t know what they called irl lol
I installed a set of forged 19" magnesium monoblock wheels on my 370Z to replace the forged 19" aluminum wheels and saved about 9 lbs per wheel, 14 lbs vs 23 lbs. The difference in ride quality and handling was immediately apparent. The reduction in rotational mass also made a difference in the acceleration and braking performance. The big drawback was the high cost, but it was worth it to me as I was able to get the exact color and finish I wanted that matched the look of my car perfectly, gloss black.
Bladed, I have to Thank you for Teachung me those Things because I wouldve bought just some tyres I dont know if they fit or dont. Thank you Very much!
You don’t need wheels, the rotors should be enough to drive on. I hate how modern car manufacturers and communities have made wheels seem like an essential mod for your car. By running on some large rotors, not only does braking performance, response and performance time increases dramatically, all at the cost of a tiny amount of grip.
As a person with stretched wheels, I really don't recommend doing an extreme stretch on your wheels like I do, the tire is extremely prone to hoping off the bead of the tire and crack your rim super easily and tear up your tire.
Thanks for the info , bladed. Now I know what I want when I go to change my set up and because of your videos why it’s never good to go cheap on car mods
your profile pic reminded me a song: "O'er azure skies and emerald plains Where freedom and justice prevail, With courage and strength We will fight to the end For the liberty in our land."
Video made me research about the aftermarket wheels I got for my car. Glad I got them on sale now, turns out the free form wheels I got are just as expensive as the dealer charges.
Hey bladed angel, I love these guides to mod and i was wondering if would make more of these in the future, if not that's perfect fine aswell!♡ thank you
Fitment Industries is the best for wheels tires and suspension. Quality and customer service is exceptional. They blow away my expectations and go far above what was needed!
This is a topic I have been thinking over for some time because I was thinking of a slightly larger tire that’s in the hybrid category so I don’t give up road performance and still giving me good off road. I would also like them to look good
U should do a video on what to do after your car is totaled and you're waiting for insurance to give you compensation these are hard times man Lost my nice set of rims too
That thing about thin tire sidewall is why my 2004 Suburban is better than a new one. Because it puts the U in SUV. That H/O tuned engine looks mighty fun though! I'd rather change my 5.3 for a 7.4 or 8.1 Vortec and build it than get a new vehicle.
So I have a story about my CRV. I hit a pothole pretty darn hard 3 days ago. I thought I just knocked it out of alignment and I was okay. The next day my tire was flat so I filled it up, drove it around and brought it to the tire shop. It turns out I actually broke the rim and there was a massive piece of metal jutting out of the rim.
I don't know how I found this video but thank you for the info. Being far from performance, the '98 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP coupe I bought has always given me head aches with the upgrade brake calipers that the previous owner put on but kept the tires and rims for. I'm not sure I'll ever go aftermarket rims but should I do so I will be referring back to this video for rim offsets and proper forged or free flow made ones. Thank you Bladed Angel
Thanks Bladed for a great vid, really good breakdown in understanding importance of the manufacturing process and pros and cons, as well as fitment as well. Thanks for the great vid, keep up the good work. Also, ik this has nothing to do with what this video is about, but wheres the miata?😅✌
looking for new wheels cause my 04 civic came with horribly curbed wheels, especially the front left ooooof. but id like to try to make a clean civic lol
I drive an 06 wrx with 7 spoke rims and I think they might be flow formed or something cause I hit a whole ass ladder doing 75mph and my wheels were perfectly fine
I mean my 4runner on 16 inch wheels and 32 inch tires has no problem with potholes. I mean the suspension is crap so it hurts but the wheels are fine. But once I get my FRS that will all change lol.
That's cause your car isn't a pavement princess! Most Trucks and SUV's these days are owned by people who want BIG OL RIMS and no sidewall. Even manufacturers are joining in on the stupidity.
Bladed Angel oh I am very well aware of all these new cars with big rims. I think it’s so funny seeing all these people with their Buick Enclaves and Jeep renegades driving around in their (SUV) aka car that is top heave, that would be worse off-road than a Chevy cavalier 😂.
I just bought a 3cylindar car. It’s nice, runs great. Only problem when we are on the highway and it’s windy, we have to really focus on steering cause you can feel the wind pushing the car sideways. My question is will adding the free flow tires help add some weight to my very light car and reduce the amount of wind pushing my car at higher speeds like 75, 80?

But bladed wheres the miata
so i guess it’ll be fine for my 55hp golf lol
In the case of the Mustang horsepower is how hard you hit the crowd, and torque is how far you drag the bodies.

Oh ya and a beedlock for the low tire pressure
And you forgot off-road wheels , that got them fancy bead locks.
I can vouch for forged wheels, I ordered my raptor with them from the factory. With many jumps and potholes over 5 years my wheels are still perfect
Appreciate this video. I was looking at new wheels but didn’t realize the differences

I've bought forgestar f14s and m14s. The f14 costed me around 2200 for my wide wheels. The m14 costed 2680 for again... wide wheels. Widebody is life
If your looking at tires for trucks it may be more straightforward for tires it’s usually reverse of a normal car it’s height width then wheel size
You should also note on how it effects speed as wheel with tire to wheel ratio and the importance of that
And now another type is arriving. 3D printed wheels. You can get a lot more detail with them, while keeping it's strength.
I still feel comfortable with forged Rotiform CVT rims.
We need a video on headlights

McLaren actually offers cast wheels on their six-figure series production products. I cannot wrap my head around that.
There is also carbon fiber wheels. Exotics and the gt 350 has that as an expensive option.
SAVAGE TUNER they are the most expensive and lighter than any wheel. Carbon fiber is strong also.
