I think it might make more sense to split the historic cable car line into 2 separate lines. One modern line that runs through the stadiums and the city, and then the historic cars can run through the San Francisco and touristy areas. It seems a little odd to have those historic cars running through the huge downtown roads, and the modern trams can carry more people through your stadiums
I believe the cable cars are currently set to 20-30 kmh. A real world speed would be about 6 kmh/10mph (please don’t do that). I think it would be funny to set the downhill speed really fast - maybe 50km. As if the driver released the cable and let gravity take over.
Let the island warehouses work. They’re so close to the tunnel that the few trucks won’t matter. And we can imagine it’s just a warehouse for the island. We have to store sound equipment somewhere.
just an idea: maybe the police helicopter depo can send a helicopter to the pier? they can operate without road connection (for eg. the fire helicopters in park areas can put out fires! )
The concert island looks sick You could use the policies to fix your traffic problem on it Prefer ferry Encouraging cycling Electric car old town And probably others 😉 You can also use the High ticket price to make more money. And why not the recreational use to boost tourism
I love the theme park in the castle wall idea. You should check out the new custom roller coaster mod they have on the workshop. That could be really cool going around the castle!
Architect here: road slopes can be 10-15% if there are transitions (areas at the top and bottom that are about half of that slope), but if you have pedestrians walking on it, you really can't go more than 8%. Anything over 5% is a "ramp" otherwise its just a sloped street.
I LOVE the idea of making the downtown a big island, it would solve your transition issue (downtown into low density) and look awesome! I would say make a decent size bay and have both rivers run into it P.S. you might skip through/disable night when building but I do love the way it looks (plus technically you should since power and noise work differently at night)
I like the system of sketching “live” and coloring on through time lapse as long as you do! It’s cool seeing the vision come to life. Loving this series so much!
Love the new look for the island! I hate the way this tram road looks going up and down the hill tho :( I feel like a dedicated funicular/ cablecar over the hill would’ve been cooler, and another dedicated route for cars as a tunnel or coast road. That being said, can’t wait until the next episode!
I would move the camping area in the festival park towards the side where the fan zone is. Camping right in front of the main stage chaos seems quite violent. Noise from the concerts, drunk people walking through, emergency services , the ones who linger and never go to sleep, the traditional 24hours techno tent... and so many other details. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say you haven't been to a festival in a while. I know it doesn't really matter in the game but just something I would do differently. once again , thank you for always remember parking for disabled individuals. And for the content!
Would be cool if the cable car and road to the theme park went around the hill, build directly into the cliff at the sea with a nice view on the ocean.
I'd love the idea to have some hotels around the theme park, but otherwise leave it secluded. It can get big fast and that would make sense why it was built so disconnected from the town. It also vibes with it being an old fort - like the land belongs to the government and is protected except for the theme park. Also - SF cable cars aren't burdened by hills because the cable always travels at the same speed, so no need for them to go slower on steep inclines.
That tram turn-around and the road in the middle kind of look like the London Underground Logo. Love the irony in that. Also, so glad you didn't go with the tunnel because building an expensive-af tunnel just for access to a theme park isn't realistic at all. Save the tunnels for super important connections (Inter-city or highways). Love the series, hope to see the festival island level up, really curious as to what new stuff you get. P.S.: Please make the island a district and allow "Recreational Stuff" on there because that would make it so authentic! Especially with a couple of special "Cafes" dotted around the place.
for the amusement park idea, it would make sense to have a service road above ground so the workers could get over to the other side and dig the tunnel to meet in the middle with the others.
JAMES. For the fort: do the tunnel through the mountain, but have it come out to the left of the fort (left if looking at it from the beach parking lot). The parking could be at the bottom of the mountain on that side, then it could be a hiking/walking trail to maintain the integrity of the historic fort AND be a fun activity for sims. The tram could be a scenic one that goes around the beach-front side of the mountain. Thinking about how the train ride to Machu Picchu is one of the attractions of it. PLEASE!!!!
I love the island change. I would imagine there would be a marina and a helicopter connection for the rich and famous to travel in to a concert, maybe you can add that.
Definitely keep the theme park where you started, that fort is awesome. Maybe do up the beach as a park as well to attract more people to the area in the meantime? Also more San Francisco style houses where you said will look great, can't wait.
The first tunnel entrance into the park reminds me of the entrance to Diamond Head on Oahu. You walk/drive through a tunnel into a crater which is a state park where you can hike/picnic/etc
An actuall festival area like this will have a small police station/prison attached. It is just not very visible, same for fire services and ambulance. (Worked security)
I know the Boom Town Rats would tell you they hate Mondays but I get all my subscribed faves updating so I’m very happy especially after I’ve finished work and done my afternoon dog walk so can sit and watch TH-cam all evening. I don’t waste my downtime! Thanks James for both updates today! 😊
I actually love the little tram/cable car turnaround at the theme park. I think the theme park would look cool with a nature park directly around it on the higher elevation. Neighborhood in the hills of the beach is a great idea.
hotels around the theme park? ala disney parks? also a big central castle in the centre of the fort would be awesome - similar to a disney castle ... but cities skylines style.
Hi ! What about a cable but the one that is made to go up mountain, the one actually floating in the air like you did over the city once before you destroyed it. Could be a very nice way to go to the amusement park the view would be awesome.
I think putting a theme park in the fortress isn't so silly. In France we have something similar called "Cité médiévale de Carcassonne". This part of the city is within battlements and it was preserved to look traditional. it's not really a theme park (they are people that live in it!!) but it's really touritic and in the summer there is a lot of activities for little kids to keep the "medieval" vibe (people dressed as knights an stuff, from what I can remember). Loved the episode as always !
Instead of creating an island by extending the river you should build a canal from the end of the river into the industrial area in Chester where the cargo train station currently is and then create an open water as an inland harbour. This kind of inland harbour connecting industrial areas to rivers was quite common in years gone by. Then you could then build a pier in there for a ferry and let the ferry use the canal to access the river and thus the island.
People probably want the castle to be an amusement park because of Season 3 RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, you built a similar castle and put a bunch of coasters running through it. The island looks absolutely amazing, between that and the Lombardi street build, you've really leveled up in cities. Stunning work.
Loving the series so far! May I suggest trying out the "Reversible Tram AI" mod so you no longer need the awkward tram turnaround loops, it's fairly new and in progress but shouldn't mess up the save, could be worth a look :)
I think the road/cable car towards the amusement park castle shouldn’t cut through the hill! In real life they wouldn’t level a big mountain like that, the road would curve left after the shopping mall up the lesser slope, and curve with the slope up the mountain and down around through the slightly lower section further on. This would give a great view for cars and cable cars going along that road, of the city and the river, and you could even make like a little vista point park along there too! There could even be a mansion or two tucked off on private roads somewhere in the hills too, if there’s space?
i feel like the cablecar going around the hill would be more scenic than it going uphill and then downhill- the first design still looks much cleaner than the second one, i think, with the tunnel in between the parking lots and through the tram turnaround. the cablecar could even be a separate line, so it would be easier to differentiate passengers that are going to the stadiums and to the theme park, than the one for the beach and can branch off from up the street before it turns right to the beachfront road.
Ideas for Fyre Island: - Connect the piers to the quays that they snap to. You have made U shaped quays so they shouldn't be on the wrong side anymore. I imagine that should fix service issues. - Look for some small ambo/fire/police assets that you can set up exclusively for the island. I don't know if they exist. But if you can get some old-town shack-style assets for the services, or even straight up festival security/medical/etc assets, then you won't need the external connection. - Maybe get some decorative warehouses rather than actual warehouses? - I love the current layout. But I still think it would be wonderful if the festival screen areas where set up in front of the main stage, and to the sides. That way you can set it up to look like a massive festival where the screens are only there to supplement the viewers distance to the stage due to the large crowds. You could also put one of those screens somwhere in the city as a kind of, advertisement for the island? Kind of like how they sometimes stream concert cameras in main cities? Just a thought. BTW I love the Star Destroyer quay ;)
You should check out two dollars twenty’s Luna park build, super impressive and he changes the ugly flooring. Also some nice mansion-like houses with that view on top of the mountain would be sweet
The top of the hill you just built over could be a good place for the observatory, either on the larger part overlooking the city or along the thinner part above the ferry stop
Check back on your festival because it looks like you’re only selling 30 tickets when you could probably up it for better park attendance, I mean I’ve never played but I think it looked that way. Unless you already find that before the videos ends 🤷♀️
i'd really love a first person camera mode tour through the city following some of the buses/trams/trains with daytime-nighttime cycle enabled. just to chill and enjoy the results thus far, ya know
To solve the weird looking roundabout for the tram at the theme park, you could just continue the road around one of the mountains and loop it back to the beach. You did say that you would like an ocean road around the mountain, and a cable car right next to the ocean would be so pretty (a bit unfeasible in real life though probably). Also, I can’t remember if you connected the the tram line across the two areas, it could be worth connecting that to the theme park tram, a more direct connection. Just some ideas, I’m loving this play through.
There is a mod that Hides Notification Icons but it will hide all the same icons its called "No Problem Notifications" if you don't already know by now on the workshop hope this helps.
I like the theme park more than I thought I would, I think it'll be really cool when stuff unlocks - though I definitely preferred the tunnel connection. I think you should commit to making that area all tourist stuff!
The steepest street the San Francisco cable car runs on is the hill up to the top of Hyde at Lombard, which is a 21% grade. Your 20.6% grade basically nailed it.
As other have said make the area between beach and theme park a tourist area for hotels. It would be like Blackpool in the UK where you have theme park/amusement parks and the beach right next to each other. Could also then have a ferry to an airport which would be fun
I've finally caught up with this series! Yes. Also don't forget people can't walk on highway roads so it can be a good way to stop them wandering so they have to go through the park.
I would really appreciate a video about mods and assets. I found this game thanks to your Bowser Bay series (which I really enjoy) and bought it, but when I wanted some mods you are using... It's a bit confusing (maybe only for me :/ :D) You want one mod, but you need another one for it, some of them are not compatible and so on... :D Video explaining these mods and assets you are using would be really useful :)
I think the new theme park should be called Fort Bowser(experience optional) as the city is Bowser Bay. Back in the day Bowser came to the bay and decided to build a fort. It's just the history of the area
If you don't like the small road at the ferry pier you can remove it and place pier near your tram roundabout to get it connected. Use network multitool - unlock -click pier to unlock and remove or replace the road - use moveit to put pier the new location. then just modify the coast line to get ferries working:)
I think you should keep the main publics connection to the island the ferry, and ferry only. It’ll add to the adventure the people in the city will probably want to take when going to the island.
I love these videos so much! Such a good break from studying, I really appreciate all the work you put into these videos. Also I'm still really obsessed with the lift idea it seemed so fun.. maybe you could put one through the mountains when you build it up to end at the amusement park?
I take the cable car in SF pretty frequently! I like it when the conductors are cool and they go super fast down the hills. It all has to do with their grip on the cable underneath. I’d suggest going faster than normal on the steep declines
Instead of a cable car, you should have done sky car trolleys to the top (those things that dangle from cables). One see's those going up steep slopes to mountain tops all the time. They would be perfect for the little tourist area you're building.
I personally wouldve made the castle a small national park rather than a theme park. For inspiration, you can look up the castles in germany, they normally have historic parks built around them and i personally think you should do the same. But again its just an idea
There are some Aussie Luna Park assets thst you may be able to use for the themepark, I love the idea there! :) If I was designing the area, personally i'd flatten it more and put more heritage houses around.. maybe Bondi style
I think the road over the hill looks a bit silly. Be it either smooth curve over or cut straight through or tunnel like you tried before. (I think I saw in someone else's gameplay previously that the trolley buses can go underground too ... 🤔)
I need to say this hahaha. The castle where it is doesn't have any sense. You could see it as it was built for the park itself, because castles are always built in high areas to 1) view possible attacks and 2) be harder to conquer
Also there is some roads here in England that are 33% that you can drive up. Blake street near my house in Sheffield is 13% I tried to cycle up it once, I did not succeed and it was hard to push my bike up. There’s a good pub at the top though.
Two dollars twenty and a few mod and asset creators made a rollercoaster that "works" in game and you can create your own tracks. could look cool around the castle
you should take the tram rode going to the amusment park and have it curve around the hill to the other side of the castle and switch where the park entrance is.
If you have police, fire, and medical helicopters you can give the island the helicopter priority policy via a district and then you'd just have ro have a recycling center on the island itself. That way you could have no road access.
Hey. Keep the turnaround near the beach for the tram, but also extend it. A lot of tram cities has turnarounds that are not used or a smaller line is turning around on it. Just an idea.
Agree with this. Plus, you wouldn't really have cable cars running on flat streets since that's not really their point.
I believe the cable cars are currently set to 20-30 kmh. A real world speed would be about 6 kmh/10mph (please don’t do that).
I think it would be funny to set the downhill speed really fast - maybe 50km. As if the driver released the cable and let gravity take over.
I think hotels outside the amusement park would work really well
Let the island warehouses work. They’re so close to the tunnel that the few trucks won’t matter. And we can imagine it’s just a warehouse for the island. We have to store sound equipment somewhere.
they could be ferried over if we really have to imagine it
just an idea:
maybe the police helicopter depo can send a helicopter to the pier? they can operate without road connection
(for eg. the fire helicopters in park areas can put out fires! )
The concert island looks sick
You could use the policies to fix your traffic problem on it
Prefer ferry
Encouraging cycling
Electric car
old town
And probably others 😉
You can also use the High ticket price to make more money. And why not the recreational use to boost tourism
I love the theme park in the castle wall idea. You should check out the new custom roller coaster mod they have on the workshop. That could be really cool going around the castle!

and the steepest street is around 35% i believe
Yes also degree and percent are different measurements, so a 7 degree slope would be around 12 %
Even walking up 6% is exhausting for more than 200m :P I'd hate to visit this amusement park on foot xD
I live in a very mountainous location and we have a 16% slope so I agree that there can be steeper in terms of percentage.
Whenever I start watching the new episode i cant wait to watch the next one
I LOVE the idea of making the downtown a big island, it would solve your transition issue (downtown into low density) and look awesome! I would say make a decent size bay and have both rivers run into it
P.S. you might skip through/disable night when building but I do love the way it looks (plus technically you should since power and noise work differently at night)
How about more hotels around the amusement park? As well as apartments we can pretend to be aparthotels..!
Would love to see a first person ride of that cable car ride from the stadiums to the theme park!
I like the system of sketching “live” and coloring on through time lapse as long as you do! It’s cool seeing the vision come to life. Loving this series so much!

Yesss. I had proposed the idea of a funicular a couple of episodes ago.
I would move the camping area in the festival park towards the side where the fan zone is.
Camping right in front of the main stage chaos seems quite violent. Noise from the concerts, drunk people walking through, emergency services , the ones who linger and never go to sleep, the traditional 24hours techno tent... and so many other details. once again , thank you for always remember parking for disabled individuals.
And for the content!
It also add a reason for the second stage off on the other side. I was thinking this same thing the entire time he was building last episode.
Would be cool if the cable car and road to the theme park went around the hill, build directly into the cliff at the sea with a nice view on the ocean.

Put the prices at max for each performer - it helps the ratings
for the amusement park idea, it would make sense to have a service road above ground so the workers could get over to the other side and dig the tunnel to meet in the middle with the others.

The way he never fails to include accessible parking makes me feel very seen and represented
Definitely keep the theme park where you started, that fort is awesome. Maybe do up the beach as a park as well to attract more people to the area in the meantime?

You should light up the castle with spotlights maybe like a blue color or red!
If you wanted to have an old cliff side road it would work perfectly to connect it through the ferry stop road by the amusement park!
Flabaliki, Use this "Mountain Brown Modular Rocks 2K" to create really beautiful cliffs instead of this ugly dirt. It's easy-peasy and user-friendly
hotels around the theme park? ala disney parks? also a big central castle in the centre of the fort would be awesome - similar to a disney castle ... but cities skylines style.
hmmm... I miss the tunnel 😅

I love this series so much. Thanks, James!

There is a big amusement park in England called Alton towers that is built around a castle. So I’m here for it.
It's built *near* a castle idk, this reminds me more of a disneyland purpose-built theme park
Loving the series so far! May I suggest trying out the "Reversible Tram AI" mod so you no longer need the awkward tram turnaround loops, it's fairly new and in progress but shouldn't mess up the save, could be worth a look :)

Been binge watching Flabaliki's old videos while waiting for new videos and it's finally here. Yeaah!

BTW I love the Star Destroyer quay ;)
you should probably split the cable car line in two, it is very long.
You could use historic İstanbul feries and trams in the mix. They look pretty cool
The theme park looks amazing I love how you used the custom fort
You should check out two dollars twenty’s Luna park build, super impressive and he changes the ugly flooring. Also some nice mansion-like houses with that view on top of the mountain would be sweet
The top of the hill you just built over could be a good place for the observatory, either on the larger part overlooking the city or along the thinner part above the ferry stop

Unless you already find that before the videos ends 🤷♀️
i'd really love a first person camera mode tour through the city following some of the buses/trams/trains with daytime-nighttime cycle enabled. just to chill and enjoy the results thus far, ya know
Gondola should go over the hill to Myrtle. Also, get some tram roads without catenary for the cable car!
I’m surprised with the way James plans the rest of the city that he didn’t put a parking lot on the island lol
To solve the weird looking roundabout for the tram at the theme park, you could just continue the road around one of the mountains and loop it back to the beach. Yessss been excitedly waiting for a new cities skylines 💞💞💞
There is a mod that Hides Notification Icons but it will hide all the same icons its called "No Problem Notifications" if you don't already know by now on the workshop hope this helps.
look like a big baby bottle the parking
Have you put any medical services on the Festival Island yet? I recommend at least a clinic if you can't find space for a heli-pad.
You should make an iconic national road like the ocean road near Geelong, Victoria that passes near the fort or castle 😀
Would have been so cool to use the chairlift from the beach over the hill to the theme park!! Perfect chance to use them!
You should really leave the day/night cycle on, I think it would be super cool
As other have said make the area between beach and theme park a tourist area for hotels. It would be like Blackpool in the UK where you have theme park/amusement parks and the beach right next to each other. Could also then have a ferry to an airport which would be fun

How about a shuttle bus on the island from he ferry to the festival area? Love the videos and series
The Elizabeth Experience is strangely suitable as a name for a park that has so many almost-Union Jacks everywhere
In Toronto have an island just like the one you were talking about exists in Sydney :)
I think the new theme park should be called Fort Bowser(experience optional) as the city is Bowser Bay. Back in the day Bowser came to the bay and decided to build a fort. It's just the history of the area

I personally wouldve made the castle a small national park rather than a theme park. For inspiration, you can look up the castles in germany, they normally have historic parks built around them and i personally think you should do the same. But again its just an idea
You can name it Mockingbird Island
has this turned into once a week series?
There are some Aussie Luna Park assets thst you may be able to use for the themepark, I love the idea there! :)
If I was designing the area, personally i'd flatten it more and put more heritage houses around.. maybe Bondi style
Really like the look of the new island!
The amusement park reminds me of that castle level from Roller Coaster Tycoon 2!
I think the road over the hill looks a bit silly. Be it either smooth curve over or cut straight through or tunnel like you tried before. (I think I saw in someone else's gameplay previously that the trolley buses can go underground too ... 🤔)
The amount of times James has said "trams... I mean cable cars" in this video... impressive
I need to say this hahaha. The castle where it is doesn't have any sense. You could see it as it was built for the park itself, because castles are always built in high areas to 1) view possible attacks and 2) be harder to conquer
I think you should keep Anchor City as the festival island name. Pays homage to its ship-building history.
Also there is some roads here in England that are 33% that you can drive up. Blake street near my house in Sheffield is 13% I tried to cycle up it once, I did not succeed and it was hard to push my bike up. There’s a good pub at the top though.
Is the amusement park in the castle giving anyone else a throwback to RCT3 days?
I think you should take the tram turnaround on the beach by the ferris wheel and incorporate it into a park on that beach as a pier/lookout point
You should give Biffa a watch!
Two dollars twenty and a few mod and asset creators made a rollercoaster that "works" in game and you can create your own tracks. could look cool around the castle
you should take the tram rode going to the amusment park and have it curve around the hill to the other side of the castle and switch where the park entrance is.
The side opposite of the beach is where I was thinking. Loop it around and follow the incline
In the city I live there's a bit of road that is 16%, no problem for my 1,5 Diesel. Guess have even steeper roads. Thanks for the nw cs Serie.
You could do like a chairlift/monorail that goes around the outside as like a way in too!
That carpark is the biggest eyesore
If you have police, fire, and medical helicopters you can give the island the helicopter priority policy via a district and then you'd just have ro have a recycling center on the island itself. That way you could have no road access.
Hey. Keep the turnaround near the beach for the tram, but also extend it. A lot of tram cities has turnarounds that are not used or a smaller line is turning around on it. Just an idea.
Since you modeled the island after Cockatoo Island, can you name it Cockatiel Island? I think it would be a fun ode to its inspiration.
Never been this early!! super super excited to watch!!
