I think you should recondition the turbo maybe with a t51r mod and then the ecu but leave the setup apart from uprating internals on the r32, all your cars are fast fast fast, keep this period correct and old school laggy

that's exactly what I think, this car is a well built late 90s R32, as JDM as it gets. I like it more this way rather than making it pretty much like every other R32 in the states
Love the sound of the "almost stock" r32 GTR, had a 92 GTS-T in you guessed it, Australia in 2004-2006 with a 3" exhaust and upped boost. The straight six RB sound is great and gets washed out when adding modern turbos with huge boost and wastegates, you are correct that this example you get to experience the old school JDM tuned sound!
The suspension isn't setup for the track right now. Would have to do the bushings to solid mounts and wider tires. Would take to much work to have it get close to the evo.
The Evo would eat it up for sure thats pretty obvious but i think its more a less to see what kind of numbers it can put up 🤷♂️ pretty cool to see a R32 on the track anyways
@@lj6284 if you know how to drive you’d be in higher rpms at any point on the track… he’d be spooled nearly the entire time. but the evo would definitely still walk it

That's crazy 480whp whoever tuned that thing on that Fcon in Japan must of known wat they were doing must of been a experienced tuner cuz it sounded fucking great and made that power that's just awesome I did not expect that at around 20-22psi
In Japan its rare for a car to be tuned or modified by a non pro shop. The FCON is technically better than a PFC but only HKS Pro shops tuned them. Harder to find and more expensive. I assume it cost more money to be a HKS Pro Shop. I knew one local shop near a military base. Brand loyalty ,authorized dealer is real. As an American using used or USA parts with shops(Tial,Aeromotive )was frown upon. I ended up with SARD fuel pumps that flowed less on paper but kicked azz. I started using Hankook tires after seeing one race team use them. 50 teams only one used Korean tires. My wife says she rather have a pilot over a Palisade. The Pali is way better but she won't consider it.

Had a chuckle at "Australians must have been through this ten years ago...". In NZ I experienced my first single turbo GTR over twenty years ago, there were similar in NZ at the time. The HKS R33 GTR visited Oz in 2002 and did some runs there, the GTR scene in NZ and Oz go well back before then too.

Adam, you forgot about the peeps up north that also go them 10+ years ago... 15 year rule here. My buddy had a bright yellow R32 GTR with mods done as well, making roughly around 500whp.. it ran low 11's with a novice driver,... by far one of my favorite cars, the R32 platform with the GTS and GTR's are all so sweet, i drove a GTS-T and instantly fell in love. Now you just need an old JDM Supra with a giant single and an NSX with ITBs to make it complete set of awesome JDMness
Watching Johan building an engine is like watching an artist create mechanical beauty. You have the best group of guys around you to do what you're doing and creating excellence on 4 wheels. Never been into JDM or drifting until I was exposed to AdamLZ, excited for the future for you professionally and the compound as a whole.

I’m torn on wanting to see it kept as is or wanting to see a big power beast to compete with the 6-7 second r32’s of Australia 🇦🇺. Under 500hp here is pretty much considered stock, 1000hp is standard mods and generally expected of a GTR the big boys are running around the 2000hp mark
Those engines are pulled down often though ,jun11 in 2019 had several rebuilds that yr just to stay competitive same as king32 ,as fun n cool as they they're extremely high maintenance. Tbh I'd leave it as is and if I u were to do a 6 second build you'd be better off starting with a bare shell or a wreck , and then your not limited to an expensive gtr shell cause u can use a gtst or gts4 shell and turn it into a gtr, it's just the rear guards that are different really, the shells are more or less identical, I've actually thought of doin that myself as I can't afford a real gtr 🤣
Dont they all use Nitto parts? Cant believe Tommy the JDM dad is sleeping on the best RB crank available. Those HKS engines seem overpriced considering the finish and the hp/rev limit is less than the Nitto parts
Man, a R32 GTR is my dream car. I was saving up for one but I hurt my back at work pretty bad so I haven't been able to put in work for a full 2 years now. Had to pull my savings to keep up with stuff and if I'll ever be able to go for a 32 they'll probably be way out of my price range.
Fun fact about the bnr32, if you are driving, knock it in neutral, turn the car off, then turn it back on (on a straight road obviously) it should turn off the 4wd and ABS (putting it in a rwd mode. It will automatically turn on when you stop the car, the abs light and 4wd light will also turn back off

The irony of that statement is that according to the guy who built the 34 originally and also spec’d most all of the fnf movies, “Brian’s” 34 audio in the movies was mixed with a lot of jz noise and not a whole lot of rb
most of our skizzas over here in aus have the old relay jobbie, when we were younger and broke it was a way to stretch the legs of a dying factory pump to and the rb20 had a hi/lo control from the ecu not to sure about the 25's and 26's but yeah doesnt mean its a track car its just something most people done either before or while changing the fuel pump.
Ive been so conflicted in saving for a GTR in the future and saying “is it worth it” its the only car ive ever wanted and i think im just fully convinced i fucking need one.

Noticed when shifting to 3rd you position your hand on the left of the shifter which might be causing you to push more sideways than intended. Palming it with fingers pointing up or more of a top grip could help🤷🏻♂️

Hey Adam, we use to play with these cars when we got them in Canada. There's some gain from replacing the mesh intake air filter with a K&N. Love the way you're testing the setup with a small taste of today's tech. Keep it up!
Adam, you havent realized it yet, you bought a real Wangan Midnight R32 GTR. That car was built to shred the Shutoko Expressway. Which is why its so well thought out and fast for the period.

Thought I would hate a single turbo RB but honestly looks like your funnest car. I think you should clean it up, put a modern ecu and get a known good tune on it and just freaking drive it. You already got a bunch of super fast super responsive modern technology stuff, so a more manageable old school kick in the butt turbo setup would be a cool addition to the collection.
i love the vintage HKS "'piggy backs". i still have a brand new HKS VPC, GCC, FCD that i was going to use on my '87 supra turbo back in the day but got rid of the car before i used them.

Adam should be using that compound space for a time attack course for some of his track focused cars to keep track of which one is faster, around the same course, and at your shop so if something breaks your right back at it. Dream track setup
We actually got R32 GTRs when they were released. Even raced in our production series and absolutely demolished. Only skyline to be sold in Aus (Bar R31)
The getrag box really needs to properly warm up; a 5min warm up isn't enough, they are much more accurate and smooth and less notchy after 15minutes. Use the toyota v160 gearbox oil. You will need 2litres.
Hope johan sticks around for as long as he can. He’s very knowledgeable and is a gem to the team. Best decision for Adam to have him!

that's exactly what I think, this car is a well built late 90s R32, as JDM as it gets. I like it more this way rather than making it pretty much like every other R32 in the states

Love the sound of the "almost stock" r32 GTR, had a 92 GTS-T in you guessed it, Australia in 2004-2006 with a 3" exhaust and upped boost. The straight six RB sound is great and gets washed out when adding modern turbos with huge boost and wastegates, you are correct that this example you get to experience the old school JDM tuned sound!
Take it to the firm and compare lap times to the Evo! Would be very interesting to see
Evo would walk it for sure but that little thing would eat on the track. Needs a little quicker spool low end to compete i’d assume

The suspension isn't setup for the track right now. Would have to do the bushings to solid mounts and wider tires. Would take to much work to have it get close to the evo.
The Evo would eat it up for sure thats pretty obvious but i think its more a less to see what kind of numbers it can put up 🤷♂️ pretty cool to see a R32 on the track anyways

That's crazy 480whp whoever tuned that thing on that Fcon in Japan must of known wat they were doing must of been a experienced tuner cuz it sounded fucking great and made that power that's just awesome I did not expect that at around 20-22psi

In Japan its rare for a car to be tuned or modified by a non pro shop. The FCON is technically better than a PFC but only HKS Pro shops tuned them. Harder to find and more expensive. I assume it cost more money to be a HKS Pro Shop. I knew one local shop near a military base. Brand loyalty ,authorized dealer is real. As an American using used or USA parts with shops(Tial,Aeromotive )was frown upon. I ended up with SARD fuel pumps that flowed less on paper but kicked azz. I started using Hankook tires after seeing one race team use them. 50 teams only one used Korean tires.
My wife says she rather have a pilot over a Palisade. The Pali is way better but she won't consider it.

Had a chuckle at "Australians must have been through this ten years ago...". In NZ I experienced my first single turbo GTR over twenty years ago, there were similar in NZ at the time. The HKS R33 GTR visited Oz in 2002 and did some runs there, the GTR scene in NZ and Oz go well back before then too.
Love the old school HKS skyline stuff, definitely one of my new favourite cars in the fleet. :)

Adam, you forgot about the peeps up north that also go them 10+ years ago... 15 year rule here. My buddy had a bright yellow R32 GTR with mods done as well, making roughly around 500whp.. it ran low 11's with a novice driver,... by far one of my favorite cars, the R32 platform with the GTS and GTR's are all so sweet, i drove a GTS-T and instantly fell in love. Now you just need an old JDM Supra with a giant single and an NSX with ITBs to make it complete set of awesome JDMness
You dont have to pull the shaft to disable the AWD system. You can do it the hood way and cut the wire and put it on a switch and go from AWD to rear.
Watching Johan building an engine is like watching an artist create mechanical beauty. You have the best group of guys around you to do what you're doing and creating excellence on 4 wheels. Never been into JDM or drifting until I was exposed to AdamLZ, excited for the future for you professionally and the compound as a whole.

I’m torn on wanting to see it kept as is or wanting to see a big power beast to compete with the 6-7 second r32’s of Australia 🇦🇺.
Under 500hp here is pretty much considered stock, 1000hp is standard mods and generally expected of a GTR the big boys are running around the 2000hp mark
And then there are the 2000hp street cars.
Those engines are pulled down often though ,jun11 in 2019 had several rebuilds that yr just to stay competitive same as king32 ,as fun n cool as they they're extremely high maintenance.
Tbh I'd leave it as is and if I u were to do a 6 second build you'd be better off starting with a bare shell or a wreck , and then your not limited to an expensive gtr shell cause u can use a gtst or gts4 shell and turn it into a gtr, it's just the rear guards that are different really, the shells are more or less identical, I've actually thought of doin that myself as I can't afford a real gtr 🤣

Cant believe Tommy the JDM dad is sleeping on the best RB crank available. Those HKS engines seem overpriced considering the finish and the hp/rev limit is less than the Nitto parts

Man, a R32 GTR is my dream car. I was saving up for one but I hurt my back at work pretty bad so I haven't been able to put in work for a full 2 years now. Had to pull my savings to keep up with stuff and if I'll ever be able to go for a 32 they'll probably be way out of my price range.
Fun fact about the bnr32, if you are driving, knock it in neutral, turn the car off, then turn it back on (on a straight road obviously) it should turn off the 4wd and ABS (putting it in a rwd mode. It will automatically turn on when you stop the car, the abs light and 4wd light will also turn back off
Also that exhaust looks very similar to the hks super dragger

most of our skizzas over here in aus have the old relay jobbie, when we were younger and broke it was a way to stretch the legs of a dying factory pump to and the rb20 had a hi/lo control from the ecu not to sure about the 25's and 26's but yeah doesnt mean its a track car its just something most people done either before or while changing the fuel pump.

Noticed when shifting to 3rd you position your hand on the left of the shifter which might be causing you to push more sideways than intended. Palming it with fingers pointing up or more of a top grip could help🤷🏻♂️

Thought I would hate a single turbo RB but honestly looks like your funnest car.
I think you should clean it up, put a modern ecu and get a known good tune on it and just freaking drive it.
You already got a bunch of super fast super responsive modern technology stuff, so a more manageable old school kick in the butt turbo setup would be a cool addition to the collection.

i love the vintage HKS "'piggy backs". i still have a brand new HKS VPC, GCC, FCD that i was going to use on my '87 supra turbo back in the day but got rid of the car before i used them.

Adam should be using that compound space for a time attack course for some of his track focused cars to keep track of which one is faster, around the same course, and at your shop so if something breaks your right back at it. Dream track setup

We actually got R32 GTRs when they were released. Even raced in our production series and absolutely demolished. Only skyline to be sold in Aus (Bar R31)
The getrag box really needs to properly warm up; a 5min warm up isn't enough, they are much more accurate and smooth and less notchy after 15minutes. Use the toyota v160 gearbox oil. You will need 2litres.
