  • Łeeh Yilzhoozh is a traditional food that our grandparents prepared long ago. We don’t see it that much these days. It is very time consuming, yes, but it’s about the beauty of the learning process and the value of being home and making it with family. Some of our late grandparents shared beautiful stories about migrating across the reservation over a hundred years ago, and Łeeh Yilzhoozh was one of the foods that they often made. Today, we add them to gift baskets to give to relatives during a Baby Laughing Ceremony or a traditional Navajo wedding. This is who we are as Native people, and we need to do our part in sustaining our cultures and languages. Bídahooł’aah. For our urban relatives, don’t get in trouble with your HOA! 😊 You can still bake it in the oven or on a propane grill outside. Temp at 350 for one hour should be enough, more or less. Enjoy. 🌺
