Fun fact: Gibson actually made a limited run of LP standards on silverburst finish (like these but with black hardware and factory emg pickups) back in the late 80's.
@@TheJasonEstes congrats picking friend that I am sure us a treasure to you hope it plays like butter my old les Paul that got stole wasn't as old but to me I got it young early 00s the gibson gothic Les Paul I loved the ebony fretboard with the lone crescent moon and star I loved being able to go to the mega store like mars music then guitar centers and stuff but I miss the days of playing guitars before I buy them
This is the best, most extensive guitar review I have seen. Nice job all the way from technical explanations at the beginning of video to great jam session at the end. "Way Cool" dude.
Don't forget about the upper fret neck carve for good upper fret access similar to a PRS SC. That is different from a standard LP. "Technical players will appreciate the Adam Jones Les Paul Standard's carved neck heel, and its ebony fingerboard makes everything from riffing to soloing seem effortless."
It would be cool to see episodes on what you get for trade on some of your demos along with where we can get ahold of you so we can potentially trade for the models you demo. It could make the channel more interactive. Thanks for the demo on the AJ.
I have just ordered one of these and I can't wait to have it. Literally my dream guitar since I first saw the silverburst custom LP, but I couldn't afford it when it was 4k.
Years and years ago I bought a guitar center exclusive Gibson custom classic silver burst. I miss it. Didn’t have the custom box in lays it had those. And it had the SG crown headstock inlay. Felt great sounded great. Loved it. And it’s gone.
I just picked one up because I wasn’t paying $10k for the custom. All my other guitars are high end customs or prs 594 McCarty’s and the quality of this standard is right up there, I was super impressed. Best of all, the guitar was inspiring for me. I wrote 3 songs the second I picked it up but sadly they all sound like tool 😆. Love it though. I added locking tuners and a string butler right away cause and filed the nut because Gibson can’t cut nuts correctly and I can’t deal with tuning stability issues. String butler really helps. I almost never have to tune in the middle of a show. They go on all my Les Paul’s
awesome. Great review. Definitely keen to buy this guitar, couldn't afford the first Adam custom release. Nice playing, cool grooves!. I subscribed, great channel. Cheers from New Zealand
Interested in how the DC High-Gain Humbucker, in the bridge of the Gibson Adam Jones Standard version, compares to the Seymour Duncan Distortion in the new 1979 Epiphone Adam Jones??
I'm really torn between this and a brand new LP Custom silverburst. I like the "antique" tint to the burst, and the whole vibe of the guitar is growing on me. Really nice review and playing, subscribed for sure!
I got my first vintage guitar today for ten bucks..a silver tone parlor sized acustic..it needs some tuners and it's not great but it's old..I'm pumped
This was obviously the Gibson news you guys mentioned the other day in the live stream; within the hour of Gibson's video. Nice. 😺 Busy week. Keep it up.
I saw them for the first time in '93 at Lollapalooza in Mountain View, where they were on a side stage following a chainsaw juggling side act; amazing to see such a great band from 8-feet away.
@@jfiery nice! The first three times I saw Tool were at small clubs/theaters; after that they had exploded onto the scene, and were headlining arenas...not at all the same seeing them up close at a small venue, and then seeing them "half a mile away" in a giant amphitheater/arena...still great, but not the same.

I'm glad everyone will have the chance to purchase an AJ guitar if they want one. That's super cool. That said, this guitar makes no sense to me. Adam plays a LP Custom. He's always played a LP Custom. A Standard makes no sense. It's like if they issued a Slash LP Custom; it just doesn't make sense. Also, the DDJ Duncan Distortion is a huge part of Adam's sound. Not having one is another bizarre choice that further makes this guitar make no sense.
I agree with everything you have said. However, the DDJ is a huge part of Adam's sound, for the last 2 albums. Before that, everything from Opiate through Lateralus was a JB, or JBJ.
I agree with you on the electronics. I just wish Gibson would add a 70s standard. With the same build specifications. At least a volute and 70’s spec pickups. Not even the current 70s models resemble 70s models lol. The 70s were a little bit more than just high gain.
@@fattony4961 I don't care if they add a 70s standard but I really would like them just to actually give their 70s Deluxe some actual 70s features. The volute and 70s neck profile like this Adam Jones model would be fantastic and probably would have been enough for me to buy one. Instead, there 70s deluxe is basically the 50s P-90 version from the original series with mini humbuckers and a Cherry sunburst finish option. This Adam Jones standard seems great to me based on the spec sheet. Only three hundred more than a normal standard and has the 70s neck profile with volute, ebony fretboard, artist branding, real mother of pearl inlays along with a case that seems better than what a regular standard has.
There are articles on how the Seymour Duncan caused a lot of issues with production of the original Custom artist series. Jones apparently had them bring in one of the guys who wound the original version of the SD he used on his guitar because he wasn't happy with the current stock SD and made Gibson go out and strike a deal DiMarzio for use of their volume pot to get his sound since that is what he had in his guitar. Basically, you can run out and buy the SD off the shelf and stick it in your Gibson with Gibson pots and Jones doesn't feel like that's his sound. If he really did work with them closely on this standard then the sound with this special Gibson pickup is probably closer than if they went the cheap route of using the current off the shelf SD with their pots and given his attention to detail on the custom I'm sure that is the case.
@@Somenite that thought crossed my mind as well about that bridge pickup. I didn’t know about the SD issue but with it not being a DDJ I would hope the artist worked closely with Gibson to recreate his tone at least for those who bought it wanting that. With his name on it I’d hope that’s the case.
Great demo! Definitely get a very nice tone like the DD and what it can also sound like when not trying to sound like AJ. I read an article recently that would confirm what you’re saying about his use of the bridge pick up. Looking forward to mine. Supposed to arrive in a week lol! Not holding my breath.
So we get a Ted Nugent playing demo for an Adam Jones guitar... lmao. Weird. But still, great playing man. Sounded awesome. And cool video , all around. 😎
In house pickup, not a maple neck, also, didn't Jones LP have MOP inlay in headstock? I dunno, maybe I'm missing something here..?? Nothing wrong with your review though
Great demo! You really loved playing that it looked like. Nearly trance out and switch the pickup tho? CMON! Lets see the stuff you bought! lol jk. good day! SALUT~
After watching the Gibson Vs Epiphone Adam Jones videos back to back, the Epiphone looks and sounds closer to the Signature model. If I bought this Gibson, I'd honestly be disappointing that it came with less features than the Epiphone that's less than half the cost.
NIce guitar. How thick is the neck? Like a 50s or thinner/thicker? IMO the bridge pickup should have had the pickup cover and the neck should be uncovered to match the burst finish.
I bought a brand new Gibson custom silverburst last year and I started playing it and a brown substance got all over my fingers. Gibson must be staining that ebony, but not doing a good job at it. At least it’s not richlite I guess.

How would you say the neck profile compares to an LP standard 60’s?
First, that Gibson Les Paul giveaway is a beautiful guitar. Great demo on the Adam Jones..

That was the coolest playing I’ve seen in a while. Like if Adam jones decided to play blues/jazz
Thank you! 🍻🍻
Great guitar dreaming of a LP one day
Great video! Very detailed about the guitar and that jam at the end was a blast to listen to
A question: why the neck pickup comes the other way around and if the sound differs if it were in a way with the magnets up. And it could be left then
I just want my standard repainted with that finish! Its beautiful
I love that you have a Toronado! I've got a 1998 and it's my #1 over all!
