    Great video! I replaced one on my previous B5 TDI red I and you had to take the whole dash out, so when problems with the heater in my B7 started last year Iv been dreading the same thing since. Just prooves how Audi's are always improving., thanks for the karma man !

    You make it look so easy 🙂 I've been dreading this job so much I was gonna sell the car. I've had no heat for over a year and after many unblock attempts I ended up with steam coming through the vents and the car like a sauna and unable to see out the window.
    I was told it was a nightmare job that was gonna cost hundreds and all the dash removed.
    Thank you for this video, I'll give it a go as I've nothing to lose having already bypassed the heater core.
    Kind regards Rob 👍

      It can be a tedious project, but the steps are pretty much straight forward. Initially I was going to just flush the heater core, then I decided to just replace it instead, since guaranteed fixing the issue. Thanks for watching, I'm happy you found this helpful

    Thanks for this very clear instruction video. My garage told me they had to remove the whole dashboard and all the pedalwork, which would take up to 8 man hours, costing minimal 400 euros. After seeing this video I'm pretty sure that I can replace it myself, so thanks a lot !!!!!

    Really appreciate the video. Just replaced my heater core. The video helped a lot, but the one thing I would give you a little bit of criticism for in this video is kind of glossing over the part where you put the pipes back on the new heater core and install the clamps. To your credit, you did say it was challenging, but I would call "challenging" an understatement for how difficult it was to get those clamps seated properly and get the fasteners in them. It would have been nice if you had spent some time showing how you managed to do that. I figured it out eventually, but man was that part of the job rough.

    Dude! Why is this such an expensive repair at the shop?! I've been dreading trying to do this myself but your video is AWESOME and makes me feel SO much better about getting this done. I need it DESPERATELY as I'm in the Frozen North (Canada) and we get temps down to -40. It's been AWFUL without heat, to the point that I bought a different vehicle to hold me over until I could get this done. If I'd know it was this easy, I wouldn't have needed to!
    Keep up the good work!

    • @CraftyWorkshopBuilds
      @CraftyWorkshopBuilds  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea, you'll definitely appreciate the heat after fixing the heater core. But once the outdoor temperature gets warmer, it's easy to forget that the car doesn't have heat, then you'll forget to fix it. Kinda like how no one really fix ac problems in the middle of winter. However, I've been putting off fixing the heat for awhile and finally decided to fix it right before winter. Much respect!

    I agree with the others on how difficult it is getting the pipes back on. New seals make it impossible unless one can use a tool to hold the two surfaces together whilst you somehow get the clips on. I gave up eventually and used the old rubber seals which were of course thinner after years of being compressed and so allowed the two ends to sit close enough for the clips to go on. Luckily they were still in good condition. So far no leaks even after coolant reaching full temperature. But thanks for the video it really helped. PS Shame you didn't show us all how you got the clips on...

    • @CraftyWorkshopBuilds
      @CraftyWorkshopBuilds  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's near Impossible to work on putting the pipes on, while recording. It's a tight and awkward space to work. If you feel you don't have the confidence to work on a project like this, take the car to the dealer or a mechanic shop to get the work done.

    • @1ralton1

      @@CraftyWorkshopBuilds Thanks but I have plenty of confidence. But that doesn't make these jobs any easier. It is my belief though that modern car manufacturers do try to knock ones confidence by making access to vehicle parts difficult. I think they must train an octopus to install some of these components...

      @dominiclai9603 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the same issue, based on rewatching the video for a few more times, I think the difference between the original OEM core vs. the new one is that they have the seal not just around the heater core itself, but also seal on the top of the heater core where the inlet and outlet go out, and that helps to seal the heater core within the heater box. I suspect the problem we have now is the seal is broken and hot air is leaking from there going into the footwell as soon as you turn on the fan. I tested it out and even though it seems the heat is coming from the vent in the footwell, the hot air is actually leaking from the heater core box itself. Reason I know is if I keep the temperature to low, and select the vent to the footwell, I can actually feel the cold air coming out from the vent itself, but hot air still keep coming out around the footwell area except the vent itself. I will look for some air leak seal to feel the gap between heater core and the heater box and hope it will fix it

      I just replace my a6 c6 2005, hardest part is removing old core from pipe fittings, and getting the pipes fitted with new heater core. You will need to remove gas pedal (maybe break pedal too) for more space to work with.

    Only thing i can add to this is if you are having fitment issues between the steel lines and your core where the clamps wont seal is stop and use a flat file on the flange side of the core till it is the same as the oem one instantly stopped fighting it

    • @CraftyWorkshopBuilds
      @CraftyWorkshopBuilds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nah, it's not a silly question. I'm not sure which side it's on, since we don't have the RHD here in the US. But, I would assume that they kept it on the same side, which would be your passenger side. If it's on your passenger side, that will probably make it easier to remove.
