As the launch customer in the United States, the Pan Am took delivery of the Airbus A300B4 on December 23, 1984. The presenter is JFK-based Purser Anne Owen.
Special thanks to Linda Reynolds for saving a collection of safety and training VHS tapes after the airline closed on December 4, 1991.

The guy calmly extinguishes his cigarette as the plane suffers a crippling rapid decompression.

Never realised cigarettes made you that calm, lol.

It would have been extinguished by the decompression lol

1980s: Extinguish any cigarettes before putting on your oxygen mask,
2020s: Remove any face covering before putting on your oxygen mask
While I never went on a "smoking" flight, I do remember when ashtrays were standard equipment in every seat

Interesting difference between Airbus and Boeing planes: on Airbuses, the oxygen mask compartment door is turned 90 degrees relative to on a Boeing jet.

The Airbus orientation is more resistant to coming open in a crash.

@@straightpipediesel I can imagine that being the case. Thanks for the explanation!

I remember this well - 1988! These were the days that there was a mystique about things, things were comfortable, there was variety. Nowadays everything is sterile and boring. I dunno - hard to explain.

Nothing to explain. Everything was more whimsical and everything was an adventure. Now everything looks like a fake Apple Store including the airport itself.
