@@savi3165 Legal age has always been changing. It was never 18 from the beginning. It is a man made law which can be changed at anytime. Maybe in the future they might changed it to 20 years old to be legal. Then 18 would be considered a minor one day.
We got married at 21 years old 23 years ago! We were married 8 months after we started dating. We also waited for each other until marriage. 6 kids later, we are still best friends and completely in love. It can and does work! :) By the way, we also fostered and adopted two of our kids like you both want to do.

I’m only a few years older than you but I got married at 22 to my high school sweetheart and I am also a marriage and family therapist and I LOVE hearing stories of mature young couples. It’s not easy sometimes being the only married friend and having to navigate building a community with married couples who are much older but when you have the attitude that you do and the maturity it is so much easier! My 1st marriage, if you can call it that, I was 20 and I thought he was 25, as that’s what I was told. It lasted 22 months. When I left I had my 5wk old baby with me but left behind the hearing in my left ear from one of the beatings. Jump 6yrs when I married the 2nd time was so different from the 1st. Someone actually loved me!! We were married 30yrs and 51weeks when he suddenly passed away in June/21. He took half my heart but I have a lifetime of happy memories to look back on and my 2 sons.🥰🥰💗💗

I don’t think I have ever posted on a TH-cam video before, but this is one worth posting for! My husband and I got married while I was in nursing school (I’m currently in my last semester 🎉). I absolutely love this video. It was when I first discovered Matt and Abby while I was navigating being engaged young. It brings me back that time and how they helped me so much just by sharing their experiences while I was going through wedding planning while in collage. We were engaged for 2 years while we figured out how to make it all happen and have been married for 1.5 years. Thank you Matt and Abby for just being there when there were not a lot of other people in my life or on TH-cam that shared that experience ❤.
Thank you, this is so helpful. My parents freaked out when I mentioned marriage after 3 months of dating, but my boyfriends parents are more chill about it. It’s comforting to know that my parents aren’t the only ones who freaked out Bc it seems like in a lot of young marriages the parents are chill with it.
I was actually a theatre major too. Not married, but my mom did get sick my junior year of college. I had already begun working professionally and doing summer stocks and moving around. I had to become her full time caregiver. I soon realized that wasn’t the life I wanted anymore.

I love this video. My fiancé and are are 21 and 22 getting married in less than two months. We’ve been together for almost 4 years now and it was definitely something we’ve talked about for a very long time. We were best friends for a couple of years before we started dating and I really feel like it set the foundation for our relationship. We’ve had our ups and downs, of course, and it’s a work in progress as we figure out our lives together but it’s such a beautiful and strong thing because we had such a foundation already there when we started dating. We’ve had a lot of people ask “Oh when are you getting married” but we knew we wanted to wait for specific reasons then it came at the perfect time. Like you said, being intentional with time. Now we both really feel like we’re ready to take the next step in our lifelong journey
We’ve also had people talk about us being very young but at the same time we’ve grown and matured so much together in the last 4 years that we felt like it was the perfect time

Given how our society is and how many sexual partners people could have before marriage I think it is a good idea to get married even while in college. You two have thought about it. I think its not only better for you but also better for the college. I think colleges should welcome marriages more if they are not. God sees you as not two but one. You both work on helping each other as a family and not being so individualistic as people are today. Your living from a fresh perspective and you have no baggage. I hope you two grow together and love together for a lifetime.

My hubby and I met in college, married our senior year in college, he was 21 and I was 22. We extended our graduation a year so we could add some classes and do evening college. We waited for all sexual acts until marriage and totally glad we waited!! We’ve worked hard to keep our marriage together and enjoyed the process for 23 years so far!

I got married to my hubs but we were older. I had a high stress job and we were in the process of buying a house so we didn’t want to spend money on the wedding. My MIL and his sister planned and executed the entire wedding. We visited the venue when we walked down the aisle. We had an amazing wedding that cost us nothing except the $99 dress I bought and the $120 tux he bought. It was the best decision ever and a HUGE blessing. If people would realize, it’s not about the wedding, it’s about the next forever days, marriages would probably last
I left my career path of Stage Management early on because I realized that I couldn’t build the marriage I wanted and be the mother I wanted to be down the road. I fell into a new career path, thankfully, within a few months of making that decision and I don’t look back. I now have a wonderful marriage and baby!

Honestly, I relate to the part about dating so seriously you scare yourself thinking you’ll have to get married right away, so I totally relate, but like they said it’s something you should probably focus less on, Just focus on how you are in relationship with that person in the moment.

2 years later I am still married it shows a lot of dedication now we have a child together and stability with our jobs has taken off on it’s own

We got married when I was 20 and my husband was 19. We've been married 26 years. Neither of us went to college. (or for me not finishing college ) So we basically grew up together as far as growing into an adult.

I love this video. My fiancé and are are 21 and 22 getting married in less than two months. We’ve been together for almost 4 years now and it was definitely something we’ve talked about for a very long time. We were best friends for a couple of years before we started dating and I really feel like it set the foundation for our relationship. We’ve had our ups and downs, of course, and it’s a work in progress as we figure out our lives together but it’s such a beautiful and strong thing because we had such a foundation already there when we started dating. We’ve had a lot of people ask “Oh when are you getting married” but we knew we wanted to wait for specific reasons then it came at the perfect time. Like you said, being intentional with time. Now we both really feel like we’re ready to take the next step in our lifelong journey
We’ve also had people talk about us being very young but at the same time we’ve grown and matured so much together in the last 4 years that we felt like it was the perfect time

Given how our society is and how many sexual partners people could have before marriage I think it is a good idea to get married even while in college. You two have thought about it. I think its not only better for you but also better for the college. I think colleges should welcome marriages more if they are not. God sees you as not two but one. You both work on helping each other as a family and not being so individualistic as people are today. Your living from a fresh perspective and you have no baggage. I hope you two grow together and love together for a lifetime.

My hubby and I met in college, married our senior year in college, he was 21 and I was 22. We extended our graduation a year so we could add some classes and do evening college. We waited for all sexual acts until marriage and totally glad we waited!! We’ve worked hard to keep our marriage together and enjoyed the process for 23 years so far!

I got married to my hubs but we were older. I had a high stress job and we were in the process of buying a house so we didn’t want to spend money on the wedding. My MIL and his sister planned and executed the entire wedding. We visited the venue when we walked down the aisle. We had an amazing wedding that cost us nothing except the $99 dress I bought and the $120 tux he bought. It was the best decision ever and a HUGE blessing. If people would realize, it’s not about the wedding, it’s about the next forever days, marriages would probably last

I left my career path of Stage Management early on because I realized that I couldn’t build the marriage I wanted and be the mother I wanted to be down the road. I fell into a new career path, thankfully, within a few months of making that decision and I don’t look back. I now have a wonderful marriage and baby!

Honestly, I relate to the part about dating so seriously you scare yourself thinking you’ll have to get married right away, so I totally relate, but like they said it’s something you should probably focus less on, Just focus on how you are in relationship with that person in the moment.

My childhood best friend he was we met since i was 10 and it was so cute when he would always worry about me and be overprotective of me and care for me when we where in middle school so I had a crush on him since 7th grade and we got together on 8th or 9th grade and have been tigether since then and we got married on 17and 19 and now we have 6 kids in 2023 and we are 36 and 38 with a 14 years old boy,12 years old girl and 10years old boy and 9 years girl old and a 6 years old boy and a 3 year old girl
