    ---- About the Pattern ----
    Tiny-Rex the Pocket Dino is the cutest little T-Rex you’ll ever meet! This mini dinosaur doll is a quick, easy, and no-sew amigurumi, meaning it’s made in one piece! A full video tutorial is included, making this a very beginner-friendly project. It’s recommended to use super bulky chenille velvet or blanket yarn. For a tinier keychain size, you can use worsted weight or thinner yarns!
    Tiny Rex is the perfect ami to make for craft fairs, markets, or kids party favors. This unisex and gender neutral toy will appeal to all: boys, girls, children, adults, and everyone in-between! It’s a great last-minute birthday gift and Christmas holiday gift. This squishy plushie can also be used for therapy as a sensory fidget or stress relief object. Its arms and legs are stumpy nubs that you can rub or twiddle with. Soft “spikes” on its back provide tactile stimulation. This pocket sized plush makes a great friend, especially for people with anxiety, ADHD/ADD, or autism.
    The free written pattern version does not have photos. The PDF pattern includes 56 progress photos as part of a detailed photo tutorial to help guide you through the dino-making process.

    I made the arms and legs with bobble stiches (in this case 4 double crochet closed together) in rounds 8 and 12, I didn't count where I put them I just aligned them with the eyes
    It's an alternative so you can crochet the whole thing in just one piece (I know the arms and legs here don't have to be sew but I prefer doing everything together so I have less tails to hide)

    • @SweetSofties
      @SweetSofties  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      That's a great way! I ultimately didn't go with that method for my pattern because I was having trouble writing it in a way that would make sense for everyone since tension/gauge can change the placement of the limbs a bit. I decided it'd be easiest to design the pattern this way so that it's more "foolproof" to more people. However, that's great thinking on your side; I'd definitely say that's the most efficient route to go!

    I've tried this about 7 times and when i get to the point where you put the eyes in, my head looks nothing like yours even though I've watched and paused and copied everything exactly how you have done. I dont know what I'm doing wrong and its stressing me out 😅

    • @SweetSofties
      @SweetSofties  ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that. :( I'm not sure how to make it better for you. What kind of yarn are you using? If you're trying to velvety yarn for the first time, it may be hard to see the stitches and I'd recommend starting with yarn with clear stitch definition so you can make sure your stitches are going into the right places. After you've had practice with that, moving on to use velvet yarn can be a lot easier!

      @@SweetSofties it usually happens when a stitch is missed, she is right, use a yarn that is Not fluffy so you can see defined stitches, that was my issue, missing stitches because I couldn't identity them 🤦🏽‍♀️ I'm a lot more aware now ❤

    • @deVrieco
      @deVrieco 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      My head looked weird at first too. I started over. Still looked off but I think it was my tension. After the next couple rounds it looked normal. I’m new with this fluffy yarn so it’s super hard to see but once you get used to how the stitches look, it gets easier.

    Thank you so much for this tutorial! No matter how many times I try though, I cannot get the puff stitch when it's on the surface like this. I just don't have enough give in the yarn to loop through that many times.

    • @SweetSofties
      @SweetSofties  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hmmm, sorry to hear that! One recommendation I have is to make sure your hold on the yarn (with your non-dominant hand) isn't too tight. When you YO and pull through the yarn, it should be more lax if you're not holding the yarn back with your other hand. Hope this helps!

    could you show round 1 more detailed and with a different yarn ? i keep messing up on the part where oyu switch to the other side, i dont know what stitch i should crotchet into and i end up with either the wrong stitch count or chaos, the video did allow me to finish one dragon but it took me a lot of trial and error of about an hour until the first round look ok and ive been crotcheing for a few years now

    The pattern is amazing, but this tutorial is very confusing in certain parts, especially in the tail part (for example here it is not very clear where you insert the hook since later it looks like you've skipped one loop: 22:59 ). You also do it too fast for beginners and rarely mention the total amount of sc of the round. Mentioning it at least by text would be much better since it's always a good idea to count your total number of sc after you make a round.
    But in general, it's a very nice pattern, really cute! Thanks for that!
    Edit: A small remark for the round 14, you can make 8 decreases and then just sew the remaining hole. So your round 15 is just sewing. Worked perfectly fine for me.

  • @tabitownsend
    @tabitownsend ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The first row for the head is a little confusing still. Do you have any short video clips that break it down more?

    • @SweetSofties
      @SweetSofties  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry to hear that!! I apologize but I don't currently have a clip like that up. Do you think you could change the speed on the video settings to maybe 0.5 and see if that helps?

  • @kjdxx4841
    @kjdxx4841 หลายเดือนก่อน

    On the first round after we have made the 6 chains. Are we putting our hook through both the loops? I also seem to be leaving a stitch at the end somehow. Or do we not count that? I’m a leftie and struggling to follow haha.

    • @SweetSofties
      @SweetSofties  หลายเดือนก่อน

      You're putting your hook through just one loop, not both. Not sure how to do this as a leftie though! I'm sorry!

  • @maayan2002
    @maayan2002 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great tutorial! I'm just not sure about one thing. When we found the location for the tail, we added/ decreased a few stitches, so I'm not sure about the counting of stitches in the rest of the round and the rounds after..
    As you said, we are all going to end up in a bit of a different position so how is the counting the same after that?

    Have you got any tips for the arms? I’ve tried to do the stitch and have been doing it correctly yet it’s turning out TINY.. I’m using the same yarn too but it’s not working whatsoever :( I might resort to crocheting seperate arms, using the start of my mushroom stem pattern

    • @SweetSofties
      @SweetSofties  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hmmm, that's strange! Is it because your tension is too tight so the loops are mcuh smaller? If so, you can go up a hook size. You can also do an extra loop/repetition so that it looks bulkier.

  • @Ms.Raptor07
    @Ms.Raptor07 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    round 11 is 19sts if you do 7sc 4dec 8st(19) and then in round 12 you can't do 6sc 4dec 6sc.

    • @catazanoni1455
      @catazanoni1455 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There's a dec in the first stitch (together with the stitch with the chains) so it's 1dec 7sc 4dec 8st (20)

    Great pattern! Thanks! Question, if you don't mind: How would you recommend making the plushie larger without using a thicker yarn? For context, I'm using size 5 bulky yarn and would like a plushie about the same size as what you get with a size 6 yarn. Thank you! 😊

    • @SweetSofties
      @SweetSofties  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! What you can do is hold your yarn doubled, so get the yarn start and yarn end from the super bulky 5 skein and crochet with two strands at once. You'll need to use a larger hook size to accommodate the doubled strands. This would likely produce a dino that's a bit larger than mine (using size 6 yarn single stranded), but hope it helps!

  • @xPancake_Mix
    @xPancake_Mix 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I have no idea what Chain 6 means. I wish I did because this is cute but very much not for beginners early on 😅
    Edit: If you are brand new like me, go watch a short clip to learn Slipknot, Chain and Increases to help follow along much easier. I will update this with other terms as they come up, I just finished round 2 ^-^
    Edit edit: The tail gets ROUGH, especially when she states after like 2 rounds that she is no longer using invisible decreases which confused matters. Now I need to find out what a slip stitch is

    • @SweetSofties
      @SweetSofties  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's strange, sorry to hear that! Is your tension with that size hook too tight or too loose? You can tell by the way the stitches look. If you need it to loosen up, you can go up a size, but if you need it to be tighter, I recommend a smaller hook size.

  • @susanmorris5114

    • @SweetSofties

      If you use thinner yarn, you'll need to use a smaller hook! :) My yanr weight is super bulky weight 6 yarn, and I use a 5mm hook. If I'm using medium weight 4 acrylic yarn, I usually use a 2.75mm hook.
