I am absolutely back in my 90's/naughties boy band era! It never really left, not fully. But Westlife are massively up there with who I'd love to see in concert. Just a 36 year old fangirling.

Try I when your 63. My mind is still young BUT my body isn't. But my heart and my ears still work so I can hear these beautiful guys. I had heard about them but never be really listen to their music 🎶. In nursing home so all I do is listen to music all day long found these guys like a week ago and I'm hooked I'm a fan nowl ☺️

I don't know why some people are so allergic to boy bands. The music is perfect, voices are pure, the songs are catchy and wonderful to sing along, and they're very emotional, you can really feel the emotions. It's all made for enjoyment, what's wrong about it?
I was a great fan of boybands when i was a teenager, especially Westlife and Take That, now i´m 31 years old and i listen Radiohead, Led Zepelin, Scorpions and that kind of things, and you can see the difference between those kind of music, the sounds the lyrics the arrangaments, all those things are perfect, but boybands and pop music in general have the same formula, the lirycs are the same, the melodies are repetitive, i have all Westlife albums and there´s no evolution in their sound in 14 years, but Radiohead albums are all different, so yes there are good boybands but they are not in the level of those great artist that i pointed before. People who are rock fan or jazz or blues have a standard of what music should be, and pop music don´t reach that level i think. You can´t find a memorable solo guitar in a Westlife song ,deep lyrics,experimental sounds or songs in 6/8, all their songs have the same formula, their song "What makes a man" it´s very similiar to "Every litte thing you do" and both songs are in the same album.
Hey, I know other sorts of music are richer in many ways. I know boy bands generally have simple arrangements. You don't have to convince me there are much more masterful compositions out there, because I also happen to listen to classical music and in fact I love rich orchestral compositions. But I believe there's place for everything. And boy bands have their own charm despite the simplicity of music. Simple but effective, I'd say. And emotional. There are reasons to like it. Just different reasons than those you may find while listening to something else, so don't search for memorable solos, because it's not the point here. However I wouldn't generalize it the way you did, saying pop music in general can't reach a standard other genres can. You need to know where to look. To give you an example, check out ABBA song "I Let The Music Speak". It's a composition of a genius. In contrast I could easily show rock or jazz music that's painfully generic and shows absolutely no musical craftsmanship whatsoever, just repeats the same things that were done before. Either way there's no reason to divide music genres between better and worse. Each of them in fact serves a different purpose. And in each genre there are masterpieces as well as total crap.

***** Like i said i was a great Westlife fan, i don´t hate westlife now, i still belive there are some great voices in the group and great songs, and yes there are great pop music like Abba, Elton John, George Michael and many others,my critique is that that modern pop music it´s very repetitive and many artists sounds very similar, even Adele who i think is the best in modern pop music she doesn´t take many risks in her albums, i really can´t say what is the difference between "21" and "25", i think rock, indie or noncomercial musical has more freedom to make music and the result for me is a better quality, when all songs are in 4/4 and the lyrcis talks about love or sex, all the structures are verse-bridge.chorus, all songs during 3 or 4 minutes, the music start to sound very similar.
