KDK Siren man you missed the week that I went back to Donte's that Friday Morning Lubbock was running their Siren on Alert Mode I told my friend Michael Vickers that the Mode Amarillo has their Sirens.
Tyler Copeland That will never happen as long as they use a FS system to operate the sirens. BTW, the mayor isn't the one who decides the purchases. This is done by specifications by the dept (dept. of emergency management in this case) and then sent out for bids. Low bid wins. State law. That's how its done in a nutshell. A little more complicated than that but you get the idea. The only reason there are still ASC sirens in the mix is that when they went with the FS operating system, there was a mix of sirens already in place and they basically just bought the radio's and necessary control parts and installed them on the existing sirens. However, all things will wear out and then time for new. In this case they will all be FS. Most likely 508's until FS comes out with something new. And I'm quite sure that will be many years from now.
I learn stuff new everyday Thanks.... If I ran the ems I'd get 508s when the older sirens completely take a dump and eclipse 8s for the outskirts of town.... But like you said that won't happen.... But yea thanks again for the info..... Send some of your rain to Wisconsin we need it 😣
Greetings :) The video project which i took your permission for using your videos to prepare it is ready ^^ You can check it out now :) Thanks to you again ^^
Not all. There are still some Cyclone's, STL-10's, and P-15's still up. There is a 2T22 by the S. Georgia elementary school. But in time they will all be 2001's and 508's. Time marches on!
KDK Siren this is Terry Hardy last night in Levelland Texas the Tornado Sirens went off because there was a Tornado on the Ground between Morton Texas and Levelland Texas I was about to go to bed and my staff Tracy woke me and told me there was a Tornado Warning by the time we got in shelter in Closets that when the Tornado Sirens started going off here in Levelland we have Whelen 3016's and Lubbock got FS 2001-130's and Amarillo has Federal Signal and ACA Sirens strange Combination of Sirens it is a Small World after All.
Saw the storm on radar. Yes, Lubbock got sirens going. All of Amarillo's sirens are now FS. 2001's and 508's. None of the old system remain. Glad you are ok.
Siren1000T1 The blower on it is wired incorrectly and spinning backwards. The chopper winds up and down slower because it is under vacuum and has less resistance. It also makes them peak at a higher pitch.
Possibly is. The city is replacing almost all of the older sirens with 508's. I haven't driven by this location in quite sometime. The Cyclones are still up for now but those will be going soon as they just approved money for 13 new sirens to replace and install new ones through out. Glad we have gotten vids of most of them. Thanks!!!
I’m just hoping that the ‘Bolt at 27 and GA isn’t gone before I can get an HD video of it. It’s really a shame that such a cool system is doing down the tubes, Do you know what they’re doing with the old stuff?
This one is a 5M, for some reason. Or, perhaps it's a single phase 6M-era unit...according to the civil defense museum website, single phase 6M-era sirens used a smaller blower...
KDK Siren Long time no comments from you to me Terry Don Hardy it's 2012 since the Comment about the FS 2001's well back on july 10, 2017 me and my sister drove through the forest hill area and happened to notice that there's a FS 508 tornado siren on the Forest Hill Elementary School Campus when I notice the FS T1000 was no longer was on Grand Street I was shocked about it and did know that Walter Kelley was in Emergency Mgt. for 29 years 1982-2011 then there's was Kevin Starbuck who took over Walt's spot and Kevin Starbuck is City Manager now I wonder who took over Emergency Mgt. in Amarillo Texas whoever is doing Walt's and Kevin's Job better be good at it and KDK please be praying for my Housemate Logan Sweet he's in the CMC in Lubbock Texas from the Flu and Other Health Problems I would like that.
Terry Hardy, I don't comment much here anymore. School and life have taken priority. I haven't had much time for anything other than that. There have been many changes in the siren placement and additions to the Amarillo siren world. 508's going up everywhere. And I read that 4 more will be installed this year. Just approved. Walt Kelly was there along time. Great guy. And Kevin Starbuck did promote to Assist. City Manager. He too was great at his job and hope he does well with his promotion. Chip Orten is now the EMS director. Haven't met him. But the sirens still go off the last friday of the month at 11:30 just like always. I think he will do a great job! So sorry to hear of your housemate. The flu is running rampant this year for sure. Hope he recovers soon and that all goes great for him as well as you. Take care and just remember that even though I don't respond much I still do look at the comments when I get time. Maybe sometime I'll be able to get back to recording and chasing sirens and tornado's. Thanks so much! KDK.
Reverse wired 1000s sound really cool on a low chopper level
Love the low chopper setting. Nice video!
Sounds like T128
ik
this has more urgency than the 2001
Sounds exactly like a T-128 except for the blower. What blower does it use?
stormblade123hsm The old 6M size blower. These had a huge pulley for the blower and a small one for the motor, so they have a sort of "chug" to them.
Oh. How many CFM did it blow?
stormblade123hsm Don't remember but hes talking about the A1 blower, the 6M one is the biggest blower the t-bolt series had.
umbrefawx The A1 is the 6M. It pushes 280 CFM.
The A1 6M ran from 1952 to 1960.
Always best to record a thunderbolt 1000 from a distance like in this video.
Aw man. At least it was a 508 and not a 2001 130.
Well, 2001-130s are great sirens
@@kansasclocksandsirens kinda. They don’t go to 130 db and they replace every single siren it seems like
@@dinkindane I can see where you're coming from, but they are very reliable
@@kansasclocksandsirens That is true. The 2001 system is one of the best. I used to go to school in an area with 2001s and they worked every time
@@dinkindane Yeah. Even if they are a bit uninspiring sounding

No it doesn’t, it just peaks at the same pitch
That’s what I thought
@@SirensAndAlarmsOfNorthernIL maybe not exact but pretty close
I love the siren pitch, barely fitting for a 60s siren though
The pitch can be changed on these sirens.
Love the wind up!
I heard this on 2022 test day and it was very loud I even cried
This siren was not even here in 2022… It was replaced by a 508.

I fell like going to Amarillo in the summer while on a road trip....

What day and time are the tests on?
Last Friday of the month at 11:30 AM, January thru October.
Thanks
I want to go to Texas now
This siren probably got uninstalled and dis vid won’t posted 10 yrs
I bet ASC would like this
KDK Siren man you missed the week that I went back to Donte's that Friday Morning Lubbock was running their Siren on Alert Mode I told my friend Michael Vickers that the Mode Amarillo has their Sirens.

Love the low pitch!
carexpertandy Me too!!!! (Have I mentioned I moved back to Cincinnati?)
No you haven't, when was this? May I ask, is it temporary again?
Got in a week ago. ANd I'm here at least a few years. I am getting divorced so here I am!
So sorry to hear that! I didn't even know you were married
Bad news Replaced with Federal 508
0:07 siren start
So is Amarillo planning on having all 508s?? Or swapping the older sirens with 508s?? It's just hard to see these suckers go
Tyler Copeland I can't answer that. It is for sure that there have been several of the old ones replaced.
Well the question is worth a shot in the leg it would be nice just to have one siren or eclipse 8s mixed in but I'm not the mayor
thanks

There are 90 Sirens on the system. Many are outside the city limits in developed areas of Potter and Randall counties.
I wished this siren was still up,but sadly it was replace with an 508,I have no idea why they are replacing these sirens.
All the old sirens have been replaced. They all have battery backup.
We’re getting a low siren with this one📢📢📢📢📢📢📢
The really scary part0:20
KDK Siren Logan Sweet has passed away last year
HES BACK!!
Kinda wish that agastat was longer

Yes. Still doing it's job.
sadly its been replaced by 508

Levelland has replaced there 3016s with 2001-130s along with there laws 1200 I even got to see them install it!
KDK Siren this sound like STL-10 Buddy
Pretty slow wind up. Maybe single phase.
Siren1000T1 The blower on it is wired incorrectly and spinning backwards. The chopper winds up and down slower because it is under vacuum and has less resistance. It also makes them peak at a higher pitch.
Siren1000T1 It's on a low chopper tap, nothing wrong with it
Blue10AEMia That's kinda what we were thinking. Sounds loud and healthy. Just on a lower voltage tap.
This is louder than aca p50
According to google street view, this siren is now a 508

The controls are very rusty lol!
Holy cow! I was looking on Google Maps, and this thing uses a big ol' 5M blower
Thought it was a 6M, like the rest of Amarillo
Sounds like a 5M to me. You can't hear the "burbling" sound that the monster of a 6M blower makes.
MOStormChaser that's what I thought too, plus the cover is rectangular. 6M covers are more square whereas 5M and 4M covers are more rectangular
It's a 6M blower. They all are here. They were all installed in the mid 50's, and a couple of them were moved from their original location.
