Lace pickups are really good for crunch, distorted tones but and is just an average clean sounding pickup imo. I would look for something from dimarzio if you want hum cancelling with their area-series pickups or a traditional single coil from seymour duncan

For anyone curious about the Lace Sensor Red (bridge) pickup. Even though it’s high output like a humbucker, it’s still soldered in during installation like any other standard single coil and only requires a 250k pot. So upgrading to a 500k pot is not necessary. I actually talked to Jeff Lace, Son of Don Lace after i received mine so i would know how to install them properly. So unlike DiMarzio or Seymore Duncan Hot Rails, the Lace Sensor Red upgrade is a simple install. Just de-solder your stock single coil and solder the Lace Sensor in the identical hot and ground connections of the original.
These lace pickups are more versatile with a TBX tone pot like they have on these Strat plus guitars. I find them a little dark with 250k pots so prefer 500k pots and a TBX in bridge position.

Everyone has there opinion about pick-ups but I own these and they are just great they sound great on everything you can get so much more out of these than other pickups
Really nice video. The clean demos were spot on in that you didn't merely pick single notes gently as all others do. But rather you attack the chords. I'm a big Pete Townshend fan and this is how he plays... very aggressively. Well done. Well done.
I have this set in my Strat. Pretty happy with them. They're great for a versatile Strat setup. I think I need an overdrive pedal + chorus for a little more crunch. I'm building a second strat and I'm gonna stack it with DiMarzio hum-canceling pickups and see how they compare.
Holy poop, that sounds awesome! Especially with what sounds like finger-picked tone from Lace Silver, and like a main riff kinda crunch tone with Lace Red, with Lace Blue leads layered over top man.. Sounds phenomenol !! :D
Thanks for playing some clean licks. Too many people, even the companies, try to demo the pickups through so many effects that a potential buyer has no idea what the pickups actually sound like. I have a couple dozen pedals to make dirt out of a clean sound, but if the pickups are not clear and articulate, I have no way to change that. By the way, I have that set of pickups in a G&L Legacy. Love 'em

I decked out a partscaster with some very high end parts and I chose Lace sensors because I always wanted a strat ultra. I really do like it and they are quiet and don't have that single coil buzz. They sound a little thin on my build but that might just be the cheap body I fitted them to.
Elliott is about a year from his last video post. Hope he is ok. This Strat set is special - no Strat pickups even approach this versatility as these. The Red strikes the perfect balance of girth and clarity with highs. Quite amazing.
Hi, great tones Elliot. I have a 1987 Strat Plus with Lace Sensors Pickups (all blue). The blue's sound great in the bridge...you should try it sometime!
My 89 Strat Plus has the same pick ups and love em I to love the Strat and have a Les Paul and a newly acquired PRS SE 245 which blows me away with its tone and playability thank you for your vids.
This was the original set of the Fender Deluxe Strat Plus in the late 1980s. I bought that set used. It said "Fender Lace Sensor". I built them into my boutique De Vocht neck-through Strat, which is, according to some, my best Strat. They're probably right... for now... I still have a set of Golden Grails and a loaded pickgruard with emerald, silver and purple sensors laying around here and two Strat projects I need to finish (one unfretted neck, which bothers me the most). I wonder whether those 'grails' will beat the Red, SIlver and Blue or not. Moneywise they should... for $399.- new vs $175.- for the "Ultimate" set.
Nice vid showing what these can do. Was the review I was looking for. Some of tones sounded a tad sterile to me, but I think I can EQ to my ears and liking.
