I got mine yesterday. It is now my best violin. I have 4 other Chinese Strad copies, the Stentor has better sound, more volume, bass, mids, trebs..what a huge difference.
This violin is $195 on Amazon! Plz. Go to the online piano and violin tutor ( You Tube) Alison is a professional violinist with 30 yrs. experience. She gives a “sound” type review! 🎻
The purfling is real, trust me, I can tell. I have a few 1990s factory fiddles where the purfling has been painted on. Yours is real in-laid purfling, that spot you showed you think is "faded" was just a bad strip of purfling missing a piece of ebony.
I got this violin for $330 at Long and Mcquade in Alberta as well:) Also thanks for the review! It’s nice to see this violin in the hands of someone who knows what they’re doing:)
Maeho, the purfling is real. You can tell because if it was painted on , you wound see the spruce grain running through the middle of the two black lines forming the edges of the purfling. There is a video of the Stentor violin factory making their violins. I would suggest you watch it.
I just purchased one of these. Thank you very much for sharing this as this is the best up close video of the instrument that I have found so far. Are you still playing yours?
One of the worst decisions for me was to buy myself a Stentor Student 2, I had it for 2 months, after that I got a better more expensive violin and sold the stentor... For beginners I would recommend renting a violin for the time you are not sure if you're going to stick with playing the violin. The sound of the stentor is better than the cheaper chinese violins, but it is still not very nice, it really started to annoy me...

The purfling of all stentor violins is hand inlaid, not painted.
Nice video! thanks
Was the rosin that came with it good ?
+DaysByTee did you get another rosin ?
Have you had any problems with the pegs slipping when tuning it? I just got my Stentor student 2 violin and it can't even be tuned correctly :/
Did you cure the slipping pegs?
