LivB they were the most underrated and hated on (for their talent) during one direction and had the hardest time starting out solo
LivB and also their first album in 1D “Up all night” all Niall’s solos together only lasted 1 minute and 25 seconds on an album that lasted 1 hour and 3 minutes.
Niall in general is so underrated people are just missing out

flicker is honestly one of my favorite albums not just cuz niall wrote it but it has so much emotion and passion i love it.
Honestly, I think Niall has the best solo career of the 1D boys, he's SO underrated and his voice is FIRE. The emotion in Flicker is so intense and moving.
Mmm I definitely listen to Niall on repeat more, but I think Best Solo Career goes to Harry 🤷🏻♀️

I have to be honest and I preferd "Heartbraker Weather" but this album was a surprise from Niall. But if you have the oportunity to listent this production but the RTÉ Concert Orchestra puff it´s beautiful!!! I'm sure you will love it.

I always find I like Niall's live versions far better than the studio version. Especially On The Loose, I didn't like the song too much on the album but then I heard it live & it became one of my favorites. I find his voice is a little more produced on albums than it needs to be but I think it's more a preference thing for me. There's more emotion & rawness live & I just prefer that style.
I agree about they sometimes over produce his songs. His vocals are wonderful.

I haven't listened to the album versions of most of the songs for a long time because I always listen to the RTE Orchestra version. I forgot how much production there was. The live versions appeal to me so much more.
Anything where there's a stripped version, I always go for that over the album.

It's down to mood for me. His two albums are so apples to oranges that it's hard for me to say I prefer one over the other. I'm gonna get southern California here: Flicker is Laguna Beach and HW is Malibu and LA. One's a little more boho, and the other is more cool and crisp, but they both share that sun kissed shoreline vibe. I mean, take Since We're Alone & New Angel: They're both sun on your face, top down, wind in your hair vibes that are just different towns on the same highway. I couldn't pick one over the other. I think that's the brilliance of Niall's music. There's a progression, and a shift in overall tempo, but there's no doubt that it all came from the same soul. 😁👍

Favourite lyrics on this album is on Since We're Alone... "if you get lost in the light it's ok I can see in the dark" c'mon, that's perfection. Flicker was something I wasn't expecting out of Niall. And as much as I like Harry's self-titled, Flicker was hands down the best debut album out of the two. Fine Line takes the title of sophomore album though, as much as I also like Heartbreak Weather. These two are really good. Saw them both live and can't wait to see them again next year. Always love you reactions man. Well done.

you should listen to So Long by Niall! It was not released on his albums, but performed it live on tour. He made a studio version at the RTÉ Radio Studio 1 in Dublin.

Musically, Niall and Harry were always the closest and they have similar musical influences growing up
fun fact: in too much to ask he says “my shadow’s dancing without you for the first time” and later in PALLOM he says “when the lights come up and there’s no shadows dancing” to tie the albums together and to represent the fact that “the shadows don’t dance anymore like they used to”

I think that this is the album I listened to the most from all the solo albums of the 1D guys. Don't get me wrong, I looove HS1 and the other albums but, this is the one that I can play while driving and never get bored or something.

This album is really good...even better live. And they are real strings, they have a violin player in the band and record with instruments. They also recorded 'Flicker' a second time later in the year with the RTE Orchestra....so beautiful. There is a CD too of it. There was a TV show talking about Niall's career and showing him with the orchestra. There is also a song he played only on tour that wasn't on the album, which he's still mad about. Fun fact... Niall recorded his single 'This Town' with Frank Sinatra's old microphone at Capital Records in L.A.
Harry may write the most interesting songs, but Niall's are the most beautiful. I also think, of all the boys, Niall's vocals are the most improved (from X-Factor). He has an incredibly open chest voice and even his head voice rarely sounds nasal or strained. His voice just has this rich, velvety quality that makes you feel like you've been wrapped up in a warm blanket.
