If you're familiar with Cyndi, she always waits to find "the center" as she calls it, and builds up from there to an explosion. Along the way, she experiments with the musicians through "call-and-response" approach. This may be observed in the way she "conducts" the band until she's satisfied and ready to climax. Go and watch her rendition of Carey during the Joni Mitchell tribute.
Terribly weak performance. Cyndi pretty much made a mess of a great song and did not even give a thought to Charlie, who could probably have saved the thing for her, if he'd had a little space. Two greats did not equate on this song.
This is embarrassing, and terrible. The only good thing about this is that Christina Aguilera wasn't singing along. I only hope this doesn't come to mind as I listen to Otis Redding's version. I hope Charlie got the big bucks for his involvement with this disaster, he had to be in it for the money.
