    I get the the exact same thing with the battery that you get. It creaks sometime while peddling because you and I actually peddle and peddle hard and create the flex in the frame. If you pop out your battery is your frame and battery chaffing at the bottom near the crank? I took the cruise control option off

    I'm looking at the Rize Blade as a substitute for the Zugo Rhino I really want, but can't have shipped to Canada because it is 750w. The Zugo is $2600 US while the Rize is $2600 CAN. That is not a small amount, so how does this bike compare. We need an easy rider that carries 300lb, with capacity to climb hills on woods roads and trails? Ideally I'd find a bike with dual hub motors and dual batteries with traction control. I'm not a young man so I'm much less concerned with maximum velocity than I am about the stalling speed. I grew up with a '77 CJ7 hardtop to learn how to drive in the woods, and speed was never the answer. I'm hoping I can strap a milkcrate to the back and carry 50 more pounds of load, plus my prospecting gear. I sense the Zugo would do it, this looks underweight for my purpose. Any thoughts?

    • @megadavesworld4238
      @megadavesworld4238  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s a little tough to say, but on mostly flat ground, 25 psi in the tires, 150lbs, and full throttle, absolutely no pedalling, you could probably, maybe get 100km. There are many factors, but if you even ad a little pedalling , you can greatly improve your range. I’ve heard of one guy who is about 140lbs soaking wet getting 180km-ish, so it’s hard to tell. I’m a touch over 200 lbs and I think I could get about 120 km in my area, which has some hills. Check out this vid I made where I clear 100km. In -2 wether. th-cam.com/video/5LFWWixChPk/w-d-xo.html

    Hey Dave, I'm in Airdrie! Just started looking at ebikes as alternative way to get to work in NE Calgary just off 64th. I narrowed it down to the Rize Blade or Liberty, and the new Himiway Escape. Between you and RSC, I may have to pick a Rize...besides, it's Canadian and wouldn't have to eat extortion level shipping fees and exchange rates! But I'm curious, if you can answer, you have the 1000w, is that allowed and legal around Calgary here? I thought we had to keep it at 500w or have to pay for insurance/register it as a moped? Rize ONLY has 500w in stock at this moment on their site....would 500w still be enough juice for my trip in, it's about 35km one way, with a fair amount of hills, mostly side roads, but could take some bike paths also... so would probably have to charge during the work day for the ride home I'm guessing...Have you looked at or tried the Liberty? I'm curious about he difference in comfort for that length of trip each day as you sitting position will be more upright on that one...any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

    • @megadavesworld4238
      @megadavesworld4238  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Sibertiger. Regarding the laws, I believe that 500w is the legal limit before you are supposed to insure and register it but there is no way to do that right now. It doesn’t say anywhere on the bike weather it’s 500w or 1000w which may help you not get a ticket but I could imagine if someone was in a serious accident and someone got injured that the authorities could figure it out. Right now, as far as I know, there is no way to insure or register the 750w or 1000w as a moped.
      I’ve never seen a Liberty before but I can imagine it’s a little more comfortable for commuting due to that rear suspension. The 500w Blade would very easily make a 35km trip with hills in the way, if you like to pedal it could probably get you back, too. I’d charge it to make sure, though.
      To get more in-depth answers, consider joining the Facebook group ‘Rize Bikes owners group’. I’m pretty easy to find on there and it’s a really great place to get all the answers you need. Lots of Blade and Liberty owners on there. I hope this helps.

    • @sibertiger17
      @sibertiger17 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@megadavesworld4238 Hey Dave, thanks for that..I actually have posted similar questions in that group! ha ha Trying to get answers from everywhere to make a decision. From what I can find, it's not the 500w that is the legality, it's the top speed, ebikes and mopeds can't go past 32km/h, so the power doesn't seem to matter as long as you stay under that speed from what I can tell...it's pretty confusing stuff.
      You've never had an issue with your 1000w in regards to laws and being stopped?
      I'm assuming the extra wattage only gives you more power for climbing hills and starting faster, but speeds should be the same correct? Why did you choose the 1000w?

      @megadavesworld4238  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sibertiger17
      I don’t want to jinx myself but on roads I like to usually run it at full speed 44km/h and on bike paths I keep it pretty slow, usually to enjoy the scenery. Bike paths have a max speed of 20km/h which is fine if there’s people around but very slow if you alone. I just use my own discretion on that one but I almost never go over 30 on a bike path. Around here anyway. Best advice is always be respectable when people are around and when there’s no one around, neither are the cops. I’ve never had an issue 🤞🏼 and I’m alway courteous when there’s people around.
      The 500 watt and 1000 watt Blade both come preprogrammed at a max speed of 32km/h but can be changed to 40k for the 500w and 44km/h for the 1000w in the menu settings. Also they can be change to accelerate faster or slower if you choose as well. So I would say you get a little more flat ground speed with the 1000w but it will hold its speed much better on hills. My wife has a RAD Rover 500w and she can’t even touch me when it comes to climbing hills, even though she weighs 100 lbs less😜

    • @sibertiger17
      @sibertiger17 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@megadavesworld4238 on cool. So if I'm not planning on doing off road climbing like in your videos, and stick mostly to the streets, any moderate hills, as example going through Sharp Hill, or up 14th by Nose Hill, the 500w should be strong enough with light peddling? It's all they have available for Blade right now unless I go 750w Liberty

    • @megadavesworld4238
      @megadavesworld4238  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sibertiger17 Absolutely it’ll be strong enough. The 500 watt Bafang motor is still very strong, especially when paired with the smaller wheels. It would even have no issues going up and over Nose hill park if you wanted to. Maybe not as fast as a 1000w but it is still very capable. If you do choose the Blade you should opt for the 20AH battery for the extra range. It’s only a couple hundred bucks more but nobody ever wishes they had less range. I wish the 1000w had a larger battery option.

    What gear and power assist level do you use to pull wheelies

    • @megadavesworld4238
      @megadavesworld4238  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Always the easiest gear. When I was learning, PAS 2. Then PAS 3 when I was comfortable. Then when I was getting better I disconnected the motor inhibitor on the the back brake ( just undo the cable at the handle bars) and now I use PAS 4 most of the time. The trick is using the back brake a lot, one finger. Constantly using the back brake. And lots of practice! It’s worth it though.

    Awesome video my man. Literally ran into your video and I'm at the checkout to purchase said bike. Quick question for you? Do you find without any pedal assist is the bike in general easy enough to ride around time with just man power? Is the seating position and such make it okay to do so or would after 10minutes of such it be a little painful lol

    • @megadavesworld4238
      @megadavesworld4238  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks man, it is a super fun bike. It’s ok to ride without assist if you’re going slow in the easiest gears. I often do it when I’m in crowded areas or just enjoying scenery. But it is way more fun with power. You wouldn’t be able to ride very fast without the motor and it feels heavy on slight inclines. You can still get a killer workout with motor assist if you want it, you just pedal harder.

      I’m not a hunter so I don’t really know what’s involved except I’ve heard some people do use e-bikes for hunting. I think the Blade could pull a trailer weighing quite a bit but I don’t really know. As for carrying it across a river, I know I could do it pretty easily but not everyone could. It’s about 65lbs and its back heavy because of the motor so I don’t know if it would be easy to throw over your shoulder. I’ll check when I get home and let you know. My guess is there was a tire shortage at the time so they had to put something on there. Street tires really held back the potential of this bike.

      @@idesofmars the newer Blade 2 is a lot more comparable to the Grizzly than the OG Blade in this Vid. The Griz is an interesting bike for sure. With the dual 750 watt motors it is probably more powerful than the Blade 2 and I think they are quicker and faster. That being said, the range won’t be quite as good. I’ve never ridden a Grizzly but I can tell a few things from just looking at it.
      -the Blade 2 would definitely be more capable of an off road bike. Hear me out Griz fans 😎, the Grizzly has it’s weight distribution all over the place. Heavy front end and a battery under the seat? That would handle terrible if rippin’ through the trees. For the best handling, weight should be centralized.
      -the Griz would handle snow/mud a lot better with those dual motors
      -the components on the Blade are better quality. My wife’s Rad Rover has the same gear shifter and that thing is garbage.
      -I’ve read that people who own the Grizzlys always boast about the power. They must be pretty fast.
      If I ever get the chance, I’ll take one for a rip and I’ll be able to compare them more fairly. I’m a Blade owner and I love my Blades for their off road capabilities!

      @@megadavesworld4238 thanks Dave! I agree about the Alter Ego Rebel front suspension. It made me reconsider then compare the S to the Retro Pro. it's worth spending the extra $200 as it has full suspension and options for different wheels and includes fenders. That being said, just after I read your reply I messaged Rize directly asking if they had any more 17ah models left, which they don't, and then asked if they're going to be listing the 2021 model anytime soon, and if the battery was integrated. He said he didn't have any information about the new model at this time, but that it should be listed on the website in the next week or so with a smiley face. So you were right! I'm going to wait and see what it is they unveil. Compare features and parts with the Alter Ego Retro Pro then go from there. *I've been looking at the Rize Blade II for a while now, and I thank you for your ownership feedback about this model 😃👍 It was especially good to hear your feedback about the level and quality of after sales support. 👍 Dealer after sales support is something which concerns me. I've been in the market and doing my research on E-Bikes and E-Scooters for some time now, and frankly, I've been greatly unimpressed with what I've encountered thus far. It seems the E-Bike market is greatly under serviced and under supported in Canada Big Time ! 👎🏻😳I also am thinking about getting the 1000 Watt motor, but I am wondering about the possibility of nosey and bored law enforcement pulling you over and asking about how strong my motor is because they've got nothing better to do ? 👀 Have you had any issues with driving your Rize Blade in town ? Also, do you ride with the dual battery option, and can you confirm what your range is per charge ? Also, can you tell me if the blade has an unlockable speed setting so you can do flat out moped speeds ? Thanks again for doing this review Dave. I appreciate it. 👍😃*

      Thanks Mark! I’ve never had any law enforcement pull me over or bother me in any capacity. When riding pathways and streets I make sure I’m being respectful and not riding like a douche or at high speeds.
      -I can get anywhere between 70-120km per ride with dual batteries. The slower you ride , the further you’ll go
      -The Blade 2 comes with a top speed of 32 kph, but it is easily unlocked with instructions in the manual to go 48 kph.
      -I’ve always found service to be very helpful and they usually respond the same day. But if there’s any repairs to do, you’ll have to do them yourself or get a local bike shop to help you out. Most shops won’t touch the electronics though FYI.
      -Make sure you order Torque Arms with the Bike. They should be free and they’ll help prevent the powerful 1000 watt motor from spinning itself loose. It hasn’t happened to me but I’ve read some horror stories.

      @@markjob6354 The torque arms delivered from factory were not made properly and it made it so that some peoples motor cranks would spin inside the frame and wreck the motor cables. Rize was good about it and the motors were covered under warranty but it was disheartening to some people. I always kept my axle nuts nice and tight with regular checks, but if someone wasn’t paying attention to it, the motor could spin inside the frame and destroy itself. The torque arms sound like a big intimidating thing, but they are very easy to install and are just a laser cut washer. About the size of a quarter or a loonie.
