    As a buyer I though you might like to see what I look for when I buy; I look at the pictures to make sure it’s been steamed and or cleaned. If it’s wrinkly in the picture I think it’s not being handled well. I save sellers that package the items neatly. I like them to be folded nicely, wrapped in tissue, then bagged in plastic before put in a mailer. I also buy based more on style then on brands as I really don’t know brands.I also buy from sellers I watch on TH-cam. I don’t buy from TH-cam resellers that have unwashed hair or don’t look like they take care of themselves

      I agree with everything except the plastic bags part. I fold carefully, as I was taught when I worked in a department store, wrap in tissue, and then most of the time use the free PO Tyvek mailers. I'll use recycled plastic for a very, very delicate item, but so much plastic in the waste stream, I don't want to add more for a used $20 clothing item.

    I just bought a beautiful like new Aran merino wool full-zip sweater at the bins today! It is GORGEOUS! Can’t wait to see how it does!
    I have found Natural Life new with with tags a few times at my bins. It always sells but draws a TON of interest before. And never seems to sell for as much as I anticipate. Still always grateful for the sales though!
    You have quickly become my favorite content creator to watch on TH-cam. I’ve learned so much from you! Thank you!

      Well, before anything, thank you SO much for the kind words! You have absolutely no idea how much that means to me.
      AMAZING on the Aran sweater! and in Merino, no less?!? What an absolute treasure! Does it still have that slight lanolin smell?
      So interesting on the Natural life - they DO draw a lot of attention - so interested to see how this one does seeing as that it's pretty different from every other piece I've had (and, indeed, seen), either way, their stuff is gorgeous!

    Amazing haul!!!! WOW!!! I'm looking forward to part 2!!! Just so you know, I just got back from NYC and enjoyed wearing the navy blue Splendid maxi dress I bought from you - I paired it with samba sneakers. I was comfy and stylish despite the scorching and humid record-breaking weather! I have also worn the beautiful FP top to a concert. I can't wait to wear the gap jumpsuit and navy Italian linen dress soon! I'll definitely be back to purchase more from you xoxo

      Oh, that dress was SO lovely! I really do love Splendid dresses, and it has such a nice flow and body to it! Hopefully it kept you cool-ish and breezy... a heatwave in NYC is truly another level.. those buildings and the concrete really do hold the heat and just keep radiating all night! SO SO happy you love the pieces! You picked some absolute gems!!

    I found a pair of those wide Trafalgar suspenders at a yard sale that had a travel sticker design for 3 dollars - they sold in under a week for over $200! I haven't found a pair since, but you can bet that I never pass over the belt section

    Not sure if it’s the exact same top in a different color, but for that soft surroundings piece, I’ve sold one STRIKINGLY similar and it was in fact, a silk blend velvet! It went for about 40 same week it was listed :)

    • @JMSquaredVintage
      @JMSquaredVintage  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Welllllp, sure enough - it's a silk blend! That would explain why it had a drape like silk velvet 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Isn't it freaking gorgeous?! This is probably my favorite soft surroundings tops I've ever had....and that color is just a dream!

  • @carissagreen9595

    I thought "braces" was just the British word for suspenders. The men in my family who were blue-collar wore the clip ones to keep their work pants up. No one was fancy enough for leather button-ins.

    • @juliewells4282
      @juliewells4282 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah I think braces is just another word for suspenders, regardless of clips or buttons.

    • @JMSquaredVintage
      @JMSquaredVintage  6 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Me too! I swear, I learn something new every day - I popped on to the Trafalgar site, and sure enough, they sell belts, suspenders with clips, and braces with the button fasteners. I'm sure they're used interchangeably in a lot of applications, though - they're not really a super common thing, so I can't imagine it's a widely known differentiation.

      You're welcome! I'm trying to be better about being aware of holding them up to the camera long enough so you all can read them... when I'm in the moment, it's SUCH a blur! Nice find on the dresses! I hope that Natural Life dress does well for you! Aren't they just lovely?

      My mom's been doing this FAR longer than me, so i think she enjoyed the challenge out here! I seriously love Fresh produce stuff too - why can't every company use textiles like those? Just imagine how much less waste we'd have on this planet if all of the companies raised the bar with their quality!

    Awesome haul!! As usual!!
    I bought some cedar blocks to put in my inventory bins.
    1. I made sure that the cedar blocks don’t touch the fabric of any of the items. Ok for the cedar just to be in the bin?
    2. How much cedar should be used? I know that can vary on how the clothes are stored etc. 😊
    Thanks!!

    • @JMSquaredVintage
      @JMSquaredVintage  6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      YAY! Spread the good word about cedar blocks! The more out in this world, the longer nice sweaters last! There's NOTHING worse than finding a gorgeous cashmere sweater in the bins, then seeing the 8 moth holes.
      So - absolutely fine to just have the cedar in the bin - I'd keep it near the top, as it's the smell of the cedar that repels the little buggers, so you want to make sure that smell can get out and, really, keep them away from even trying - heck, you could probably even somehow attach it to the outside of the bin and have similar success.
      I find that one cedar block or ball per drawer (or bin, as it were - if you're using those enormous bins, maybe do two) does the trick. obviously, if you're really packed in, a little extra abundance of cedar can't hurt.

    Are bins better during the week or weekend for you ?

    • @JMSquaredVintage
      @JMSquaredVintage  6 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      So, the actual content and finds at the bins are about equal no matter what day you go, BUT, because I have the luxury of not going during the weekend, I don't go. A. because it's generally more crowded, so more people to compete with, but moreso, B. I like to stay away because there are so many people that can ONLY go on weekends, so I can be one less person that they have to compete with on an already crowded day.

    What is the difference between camisole and tank top ?

    • @JMSquaredVintage
      @JMSquaredVintage  5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's a good question - and can be pretty confusing since a lot of people use the term interchangeably - So, at it's core, camisole is technically a lingerie term. It should be used to refer to either a tank that looks like the top half of a slip (like that VS one in the video, with the silky fabric, slim straps, and lace trim), OR a more basic version of that - say, a cotton tank top with spaghetti straps - that someone would wear under another shirt to offer a bit more coverage.
      A tank top on the other hand, is generally designed to be worn standalone - the straps are usually about an inch or wider, up to the point where it goes into muscle tee territory. And while yes, a camisole can be worn on it's own, it's generally designed in either a lingerieesque way, OR as a layering point.
      Easy cheat - if it's spaghetti straps, call it a cami. If the straps are an inch or wider, call it a tank. 99.999% of the time, you'll be right on the money.
