I have and have listened to every one of Toby's albums. I'm always amazed at the hidden gems I find on each and every album! This is my favorite on this album......is tells such a poignant story of so many small towns across the country.
I worked at gas stations for almost six years. I thought I would be glad to get out of that business, but my new job being what it is, I miss it. My mother loved Toby. This March 17th will be ten years since she died. There's nothing that makes me happy in my life anymore. I miss my old job and the people there. I miss my mother so much. This song provides an outlet for my grief. You inspired many many people Toby, and like them, you will be sorely missed.
Fred J. Eaglesmith wrote about growing up as a teenager in southern Ontario. Check out his performance on Drive In Movie. BTW, Eaglesmith says he’s never received payment for this cover.
I sorry but each and Every one of Toby songs has a special meaning in his songs Justed listen to the lyrics brilliant song Toby.thank you so much for Each and everyone of your songs,s 💙 as I said my youngest son played all your songs on how road trips plus other's but we come from the country I miss that so much now science he been gone I have not been on a road trip over 12 Mouth,s know God Bless 🙏 Toby and all your family and friends may God put Angeles around you Toby get better soon so I can make one of your concert .💕🌹🎵🎸💯 Lyn Australia F N Q L D .
This is actually my favorite song. A favorite song is something that usually takes some time to find but as soon as I heard it, I knew I had found my favorite.
You should look up the original Fred Eaglesmith version. Toby's aint bad at all but Freddy's has a lot more soul imo. More bluegrass style, Willie P Bennett was still playing the mandolin with them back then too
There's still a full service gas station in my old home town of Cambridge Illinois. I hope I never see the day that it closes. So much of that town has died in my short 35 years that it's still nice to see that one gas station still going.
The first time I heard this song was when I was in 9th since then I listen to the song one of the best songs he ever wrote best songs listen to when your having a hard time in life
@@bobsebastien5412 I agree, not knockin the Toby Keith version but Fred wrote it and played it with more feeling. I miss him coming around every year or so, usually around this time of year he would have played a local pub during the Calgary Stampede and a gig or 2 in nearby towns. Great guy and his wife Tiff Ginn is awesome too.
I prefer listening the original version over the live stuff. This isn't always the case but at least in this original recording you make out the words..they aren't slurred and distant as they were in the live video I tuned in. This song certainly tells a story, unlike Kenny's country flavored hit, "She's Thinks my Tractors Sexy"..I beginning to wonder if that's a new pet peeve term referring to ones manhood. I better get back to Lady Ga Ga and her "Love Machine"! A howdi & Thx4 postin'

Beautiful song. I started pumping gas at age 14 in 1972. Thank you Toby. You will be missed. God Bless you!

Toby Keith didn't write this song. It was written by Fred Eaglesmith, a Canadian singer/songwriter. Check it out.

I Love this song....I just wonder where this is at ???
White Rose gasoline was only available in Canada. I'm surprised that Toby sings it, but I guess he can pretend to be a Canuck for a while.
this the best
Wrote by Fred J Eaglesmith!
me too
Toby does a good job by this song is done better by its writer Fred Eaglesmith! Also freight train by Alan Jackson as well.
Someone’s never felt the touch of another human being before

Still ain't as good as Fred Eaglesmiths original version.
He has to get slapped by each one of his band members in order to not be in Exile
