Joyce...the changes you made for Alex the sound that came from her mouth truly brought me to tears...i felt every single bit of those notes. AlsoBTW...OUR ENTIRE FAMILY SAYS WHEN WE DONT WANT TO TALK ABOUT SOMETHING OR WE DONT WANT SOMEONE TO BRING UP SOMETHING IN FRONT OF SOMEONE WHEN WE DONT WANT TO STIR UP TROUBLE OR CAUSE AN ARGUEMENT WE ALL SAY....SHHHHHHHH BABY SLEEPING..SHH SHH HUSH HUSH ...SH SH SH BABY SLEEPIN..AND WE PUT OUR INDEX FINGER TO OUR LIPS TO GESTURE FROM ACROSS A ROOM OR WHILE SAYING IT. FUNNY AS HELL. it is effective and no one gets upset. Its a win win.
Really? Come on Joyce....is there no end to your pearls of wisdom...you really put the connection into each person you instruct....that is amazing to instill a beautiful emotional connection to every word every note sung is full of meaning...however, i could listen and still be frozen lost in time space and location in a trance watching snd listening to this beautiful singer..
She's really not ready to tackle such demanding music. I am not surprised it's the first time she has sung it in public. All very interesting to do the Freud analysis but a better technique would be useful first!

And, behind all of that it is always so great to hear young singers reinvent their own interpretations while tackling some of the greatest music in modern time. I do agree. DiDonato has gone from being a good mezzo to an over-hyped and psychologically-obsessed artist. I find she sings out of tune a lot now and with a very tight vibrato.

In working on his way, Ms Donato really helped the singer vocally and corrected her technique. The young woman has a lovely voice. Needs work on this complex rep.

There’s a video on my page of me singing this a few months after when it was more settled in my voice if you’re interested in watching.
She has gone so much training. Duh.Trill, vibrato, color, tone placement, etc. takes many years to master. Her voice is really divine.
