Can you technically chain them together and connect them all to a power amp into a cabinet?

Great pedals. Have the 3 of them and run throught blackstar amped into a quad. Highly recommend!

Although the first two had a workable gain, the 800 seem to have more body. That and a modern amp, I'm sure you could find that tighter bite.

Which one do you recommend for thrash metal like slayer sounds??

Jims 800 is based off of the JCM800 2203 which was used on the vast majority of slayer albums.

they sound poopy tbh. I'd go with a Marshall DSL1HR 1W over those any day. A bit more expensive but at least you get a usable tone and not a coaster.

Sounds no different to a$30 jayo distortion pedal

With the release of BOSS IR-2 these are dead in the water. The BOSS IR-2 can let you load your own IR, has effects loop, type-C USB (wtf still uses micro USB TC electronics???), build in reverb, and 11 amp models using their flagship AIRD tech found on GT-1000.

That pedal has heaps of options but Ive never found bosses amp emulations that great though, having the gt1000 previously. I actually bought the 3 of these and love them as a preamp pedal running through my blackstar amped. Great feel and they do mimic the amps theyre based on closely.

@@kaoskult666 agreed. IR2 is good but it's like the Katana. Workable, but a bit sterile, and more sterile than the Ampworx. There's a reason the IR2 is so cheap. Boss products are great, but for people more used to real amps, they can be missing something, and they've always been this way.
Do these things sound ok for recording WITHOUT using a poweramp?

@@kaoskult666 BOSS never claimed to do accurate emulation. They have always been doing their own interpretation of it. Do they sound accurate? Probably not. But any decent player can get them to sound great.

@@CCovers1 you wanna bet that on a blind test? That you can tell the difference between someone playing via an IR2 and your so called real amp? I swear it is always the bed room players that are the gearsnob. Session players I met during my active gigging days never once raised their nose on modeling tech. Infact they are the one who adopted modeling tech for studio and live use before others.

@@vmx23 like everything its a matter of taste. I've owned the gt 1000, katana mk ii 100, and the katana head, and theyre totally a great bang for the buck. They just never did anything for me amp wise when comparing to what else is out there, and that includes countless hours playing with settings, downloading patches that other people have been all for. Anyway on the other hand I love their effects and use their stomp boxes, and they're prob the best pedals out there. I'm a high gain player btw, so I dont use much clean, and the boss amps definitely feel more suited to cleans and crunch channels
