How to Make a Medieval Kirtle | NO PATTERN NEEDED: Easy Sewing Tutorial

- In this video I will show you how I made a medieval kirtle (or dress) with no pattern and just a T-Shirt.
This Kirtle is styled as it would have been for a middling sort of woman in the high middle ages particularly the 13th Century (specifically 1200-1250 Europe)
Today, these tunics are sometime colloquially called "T-Tunics" as they kind of look like a T when laid flat.
I originally made this kirtle for a Mediaeval Themed Homeschool Day where I work, but then my husband and I decided that we needed more places to wear these outfits, so we looked up our local Society of Creative Anachronism (SCA) shire and attended our 1st event with them. More on that later...
If you are interested in getting started in historical costuming the medieval era (particularly the high middle ages) is a great time period to start in for beginners. Lots of straight lines and simple shapes.
I have two other video's in this series where I talk more about how to use the T-Shirt as a guide:

The best comment I can receive is one that let's me know a video I made has helped a viewer create something. Thank you so much and happy sewing!
Your so cute, I love your enthuasiam. The garment looks terrefic and it has lots of twirls in it. You make everything you sew look easy when I know it's not, that's part of your tallent. Can't wait to see the followup. bye
Thank you so much!
The tunic was lovely. You did such a good job on it. Sorry, the kitties are still not getting along better. Sometimes, it just takes a while.
Thank you so much!!
Oof…that needle in the foot 👀 Girl! I’m glad you had shoes on. Thank you for this video. I desperately want to make a kirtle for myself and am watching various videos. I have no sewing experience (I crochet constantly but have never sewn 🤦🏻♀️). Your video makes it feel a little bit more achievable of a goal for myself. Thank you for suggesting the other videos I should check out) Cheers 🩵
Haha yeah I almost did some accidental acupuncture 😱. Best of luck on making a kirtle!! You got this!!💜
@@HistoricalBelle thanks! I might leave you a message if I have a question! Like I said, I’m great at crochet but have no sewing experience. I’m watching all your videos to get some tips..cheers and have a great night 😘

It's a store called Gail K's Fabrics.
