Bro you look so stressed over this at first haha. Your approach on thinking "Mistakes won't kill the project, I can change it as I go" is a great way to do it. Good way to live life too.

Good start George, and with the right attention and care it will turn out just fine.👍 I've just finished the same kind of project; a Dutch style in a relative small tank. (scraper 35l). High energy and it looks great. And if anyone can succeed; you will 🙏
Don't get too stressed over the rules of Dutch style, you are an established aquascaper and like you said you can change it as it progresses. Look forward to see this in two weeks and more.👍
Mate cheers on stepping out your comfortzone and the courage of sharing it with the world!! You will learn and you will keep improving along the Way. It takes 10.000 hours to master something 😜 And it you want input or tips you can always mail your Dutch fellow hobbiest
Using a lot of crypts in a dutch style is in my opinion the best way you could have gone, it might go slow but it's a plant group you love and are very experienced growing, so combining your experience with a new style. Looking forward to how this one turns out!
Why stress! I encourage you to take a look at some earlier dutch scapes on the AGA archives say from the mid 2000... they are very amateur compared to what you have achieved here. The hobby has become much more accessible and success rates for dutch scapes have risen tremendously since advances in lighting, substrate and Co2... Good work as always George.
Love your book ! Enjoy your videos, even this one about Dutch scape which isn't my favorite genre. With your knowledge of plants and planting it would be nice if you were to publish a highly detailed book with pictures on plants/planting as a reference for hobbyists in loose leaf form. Keep up the good work !!!
Excited for this one! Always good to try something new, crypts are a great choice. What substrate system are you using? I'm guessing Tropica aquasoil with some nutrient substrate?
Thanks. The substrate is like you say with additional mulm from the previous scape to help with the biology and Tropica Nutrition Capsules opened and sprinkled between the Tropica Substrate and Soil.
Looking forward to this one growing and developing. My dwarf sage took 6months to get to the height you need from 1-2 grow - I'll be interested in how long this takes your scape to get there. Why aren't you using your Biomaster?
Thanks! I wanted to try the BioStyle out for a change. It's more affordable than the BioMaster and I think could be a great alternative for smaller aquascapes, especially if there's restrictions on space for an external canister. I'll be making a video on this topic. :)
Thanks for bring us along. I'm sure it will be gorgeous in a few months. I think the layout and the use of sticks are great. Please keep us up to date. BTW what light are you using?🌿
That was my original intention but I got so overwhelmed with choice and combinations I decided to use what I already had leftover. I also love crypts so it's kinda my style as well.

@@GeorgeFarmerStudios Got it! ! I was assuming since you were very hesitant on the dutch style layout, you would go all out on equipment. But your statement also makes sense. Thank for the response :)
If it makes u feel any better uve taught me alot and u are a planted tank legend in manys eyes....ur crappiest scape is better than most lol hit the pen and go with the flow haha
Hello there! Iam far from George’s knowledge, but… I suggest you to go for high tech since you really need the plant to shine and reach their best colors to make the tank look great. You don’t have any hard scape to help you with the look. So u should use stronger light unit together with bigger canister filter. Good luck 🍀
If you have very soft water "low tech" with good light intensity for a shorter photo period, will work relatively straightforwardly. In my experience, low tech works for a good range of plants with soft water but with hard water, things become more challenging, and chelated Iron is needed, however, it can still be done but it is more challenging and your plant choice is more limited. Honestly, after 50+ plus years in the hobby, I recommend CO2 even with so called easy plants. Basic yeast and sugar systems work on modest sized tanks, in fact I ran a three foot with two yeast and sugar generators for a year by way of experiment, re-filling one every week, getting approximately two weeks of a decent bubble count out of each refill. You don't need to blast easy plants with CO2, with say a 6 to 8 hour lighting period and good substrate, most of the easier plants are much less likely to be algae magnets if you keep CO2 levels around 10-15 ppm. Karen Radall's book is pretty useful as a fairly accessible book, and George of course has himself written a decent book, but definitely aimed at the high tech tank. Good luck.

I’m convinced you’re a scientist. Well done!! Oh and procrastination and overthinking simply means you care! Bravo!! Very inspirational!

Really looking forward to seeing how this progresses George
Thanks Mandy!

Thank you mate, I appreciate your support!
Brilliant, some lovely plant species that’ll contrast and compliment each other. Can’t wait to see it grown in!

It looks fantastic already, can't wait to see it when it is fully grown in.
Such a challenging style…time will tell…👍🏽

Loving the dnb fast plant montage.
I'm sure you'll make it work out, just worried there's not enough dense stem plants, crypts have an open airy nature to them
Thanks!
Great video, subbed

Interested to see this one grow in George 👍 hope you and the family are good mate.
Thank you :)

Thanks. The current light is a Wio Slim 60cm unit. No longer in production. I'll be upgrading to a Twinstar 600S soon.
Curious to see how it turns out. I was expecting you to use more stem plants.
That was my original intention but I got so overwhelmed with choice and combinations I decided to use what I already had leftover. I also love crypts so it's kinda my style as well.
Why a HOB filter over a canister? Wouldn't the better flow be much better for distributing CO2 and other important elements to all the plants?

Tip: map plant plan to light intensity zones
Nice tip, thanks. Do you consider this necessary with a relatively small tank and easy plants?

do you find dutch style tanks are good for low tech or would you recommend going high tech

Dutch is all about plants. Powerful lights and CO2 and fertilizer..

Dutch is my favorite atyle now. Find the whole drift wood and simple plants boring now. Cryp’s hug bad choices.
Wie alle auf die Katze reagieren 😂😂😂 dabei is die Botschaft vom Video viel wichtiger ☝️ das is die Realität!💪
Good luck! Too many crypts for my taste in a dutch.
I hear you
@GeorgeFarmerStudios but i have to say, knowing you, you will make it work! Looking fwd to the next vid.
George Farmer in 4K.
Warts n all :)
Umm no
A lot of cryptocoryne for a Dutch escape!!
The Cryptic Dutch 😊
