    I paired 27 Ikea Tradfri bulbs, spots and panels successfully this way:
    Turn the lights on, select search from the Hue app, switch the lights 6x off and on, and hue will find them.
    I had 16 GU10 lamps in 4x4 spots, and hue found 15 lamps in one search. Then, I did the 16th indivudually. The bulbs were about max 9 meters from the bridge.

    Thank you so much for the tip on "Turn off IKEA light > Search for lights in Hue > wait 2 seconds > Turn on IKEA light". Worked perfectly. Best tip ever!! :-)
    I was struggling before, thinking that my lights may have old firmware. But I tried your method and it worked 1st time. Thanks heaps! This is probably the most useful tip.

    I just paired 4 of them really easily with the 6 on/off times but renamed it one at a time and kept doing the reset. All of them would blink but the renamed ones would come back anyway so it also works this way without having to take them out constantly.

    • @GreeniusGenius
      @GreeniusGenius 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So you’ll need to run Homebridge on an always on computer like a Raspberry Pi, and then add the Homebridge Hue plugin.
      It’s against the HomeKit policy to allow 3rd party devices connected to hubs to be exposed to HomeKit, so that’s what you have to do.

    Great video. I’ve long been a fan of Philips hue. However everything they ever release is just so expensive, and like others I can’t justify the price.
    I’ve upgraded a few bulbs to colour with ikea and paired them to my Philips hue. Only issue I’ve had is needing to upgrade the firmware on a few IKEA bulbs so I had to buy the Tradfri hub.
    I think the best setup is using a Smart things hub and then you can literally control everything. That’s the next plan, as I can then add ikea smart switches and anything else they release

    Do you have a solution for this?

    • @EverydayTechchannel
      @EverydayTechchannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can't connect the switch to the bridge, you can only connect the bulbs and what you do is pair the IKEA switch to the bulbs after the fact. You don't need to control the switch from the hue app as the bulbs can be grouped by rooms etc. Hope this helps 👍

    This is cool if you plan to stay on the cheaper side, but i must mention, that Ikea bulbs ARE BUGGY!!!! Not just the tradfri hub/bridge whatever it's called. The zigbee HW in them are way less powerful then the HUE. One of the reason of the price. Also the Ikea bulbs tend to flicker, the HUE does not ever!!! The last thing to the mix is white color representation, where Ikea bulbs has a smaller range, so you cannot make the real bright white white colors.
    Overall not bad video, but my man, if you criticize others on YT that they not tell the whole picture do your research better!!!

    • @freemanone87
      @freemanone87 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ikea bulbs are also slower then HUE, you cannot send them 50% on X white, because those can only process 1 command at a time! Hue can do a range of commands in 1 pocket! Sometimes they just not turn on.... you have to issue the command twice! Hue on the other hand..... IT IS JUST WORKING!
      I had both at my home, now it's HUE only and it's sooo much better. No finicky bull**** what the tradfri bulbs made before.

    • @EverydayTechchannel
      @EverydayTechchannel  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, I appreciate your feedback. Hue is much better although not a perfect system. I think I did mention the buggy tradfri in another video I think 😊.
      For me the white representation isn't an issue but I agree with you that is annoying when you have to say your command twice. This video is more aimed at the price conscious consumer unable to make the big financial leap from tradfri to hue in one go. I know it's not ideal but it works for me 😁 👍.
