Please drop the copy and paste comment. Some of your info is unconfirmed and some of your nicknames are not widely used by fans and are never used by the band members. "Ice Queen" is a fan creation that never caught on (it's not even accurate). "Princess" was never a thing. "Barefoot Assassin" is often used by fans but never by the band. "Gorilla" is partially correct in that they refer to Akane as "a gorilla" or "half-gorilla." One or two people continually posting the same comment every time a reactor discovers Band-Maid just keeps misinformation alive. It adds nothing to anyone's understanding or appreciation of the band and their incredible music.
Thanks for doing Band-Maid. You may have been thinking of Babymetal initially. Band Maid is an organic band of 5 ladies who are ALL highly talented in their own right. The basis of their sound is hard rock but as you will see they are able to incorporate many genres into the music - seamlessly. Kanami Tono is a great guitarist as you will see but her prowess in song-writing is second to none (IMO). And if you like bass/drums you found the right band - best rhythm section in rock! Enjoy your travels down the pigeon hole - they have 130+ songs with no filler material.

Kanami-san still doesn't have her own signature I believe. I mean, she is a recognized PRS Artist and she owns a PRS Private Stock. But I think she purchased the PRS with her own money (probably at cost, lol) and they asked her for ideas about the design. So, I guess, in a way, it is a signature model but still not like an 'Orianthi" or anything.

Oh, wait, now she's digging in finger style like Geddy Lee. Surely she can't also play tapping style like Billy Sheeh.... oh, wait, yup. Technically proficient and capable of every bass technique there is... sometimes all in the same song. She's just amazing. Note that Band-Maid has been around about as long as Baby Metal (Band-Maid started in 2013), so you might have caught both of them back in the day. With about 140 songs in their catalogue, they have a little of everything, all of which you feel like you've heard before, and yet which you'll know is entirely creative and original track to track. MISA writes her bass parts and her playing is featured throughout all their songs, playing lead in parts and solos. As others have said, you have them confused with Baby Metal! both are good. and if you like drumming try, "Freedom" live for a nice drum solo and for base try "Hate?" Live (they are better Live! and even better in person). They are very Punk Pop based but go all over the board in styles. to the point people say Band Maid is their own style. Great reaction!

You serendipitously found this amazing band! They play all kinds of rock, combined with multiple genres...you may even hear some folk in some of their songs. Btw this song has Japanese traditional instrument used in the backing track, right after the first chorus into the beginning of second verse.
Kanami mainly plays SE24s she used to rotate in a SE22 in live shows but not seen that for a long time. Her newest guitar is a Private Stock Custom Made for KANAMI (BAND-MAID) Custom 24-08 which you can see in this short video by PRS Guitars Japan th-cam.com/video/LFJtoAiiLK0/w-d-xo.html and it's a beauty. She has only recently switched to Bognar from Mesa and uses an Uberschall and Pandora for different situations - live and studio.

And this might turn you off the band but I gotta put it out there: The instrumentation will always be technical and probably heavy in most cases but the vocals will sometimes be not to your taste maybe. That's only in the beginning. Eventually, you will realize that Saiki (lead vocalist) is amazing and fits the band perfectly.
