Hi Brian, I'm always happy when you react to BAND-MAID and a few others. great job. MISA's bass is from Black Cloud Guitars in Japan and here she is playing her Black Smoker bass.(She has a signature model with Black Cloud) Kanami's guitar is her first PRS that she bought it's the Trampas Green custom 24-08 and her new Signature model is Trampas Green Smokeburst. I'm looking forward to see you do the instrumentals "Without Holding Back" which you can find a YT video of Herman Li audioning with BAND-MAIDS Kanami and Miku during a Twitch live stream. and "From Now On" which Herman Li did a YT reaction to. Cheers
Misa uses Black Cloud basses, which is a custom luthier in Japan. The model in the video is the Black Smoker 5 string. She recently got a signature model.
I love that they gave the rhythm guitarist, Miku, a moment to shine. As others have said, the live video of this song has a little more energy, however, this "white room" version is still pretty good. Their "white room" video for "Without Holding Back" is pretty amazing, it is another instrumental. They have quite a few instrumental tracks, which I feel is kind of rare for rock bands these days.
It is interesting that you mentioned Eddie Van Halen, Kanami has credited him with being her inspiration when it comes to her tapping. Other instrumentals from Band-Maid to check out are Without Holding Back, Don't Be Long, or Get To The Top! from the maid's latest album.
This is my first time hearing the white room version of this. I’m so familiar with the live that hearing Kanami without the dotted eighths delay sounds weird! Still awesome, though. Tapping is tapped out; however, Kanami uses it solely as a musical device, as a vocal replacement, and probably is rooted in her piano playing. Kanami just doesn’t have an ego. She’s not there to use a technique just because she can. It’s the same with MISA and her slapping. She’ll most often use it as a way to open up the second verse of a song. Band Maid’s sincerity and humility are impossible to fake. Impossible to ignore. I struggle to think of another group of musicians who compare. Maybe, possibly, the Grateful Dead? I’ll need some help thinking of others
Great reaction. Agreed that Kanami is really using the tapping here well as an effective piece of the composition, not just showing off. She really knows where to use this technique, and where to use others. Far more than her technical ability, her design of the compositions and solo pieces are what make her the great guitarist that she is.
Incredible band. The one thing they suffer from is the editing. The insane and endless jump cuts never gives you time to get into each section and each Maid's playi g.
I think the jump cuts are slow enough. There is plenty of time to take it in. And they are well thought out and concentrate on the "soloer" right now. It also fits this song that is jumping around all the time. But ... in principle I agree. Jump cuts are generally annoying and destroy the enjoyment to look at a music video. But here I think it works.
Almost every Band-Maid song is first written as an instrumental by Kanami, with MISA and Akane's help. After hearing the song, Miku thinks about how it makes her feel and then puts pen to paper to write lyrics. Then her and Saiki work out the vocal melodies and alter the lyrics to make the syllables sync with the flow of the music. This is part of the reason why English is often sprinkled into lines in what appears to be a random fashion... to make it work. But the music always comes first, which is why so many Band-Maid songs work as instrumentals. In fact, the entire Unseen World album was re-released as an instrumental CD that came with the Official Score Book of the album.
I had forgotten which Black Cloud models she uses. I had to look it up. In this song she is using her Black Cloud - Black Smoker BETA J5-MISA. As far as I know it's a modded BETA J-5 with some parts changed according to her taste, e.g. the neck is made of rosewood on this one.
Kanami credits Eddie Van Halan for her tapping ability . I love she has her own costume PRS now ! But the guitar i like the most is Miku's " Aces & Eights " in this song ! Thanks Nice Reaction !
MISA-san's bass guitar is a Black Smoker TM beta JMB-5 MISA by Black Cloud. Oops, I wanted to say that that's MISA-san's bass guitar but not what she was using here. Still, it's a Black Smoker; just not sure on the actual model of Black Smoker by Black Cloud.
You really need to watch the live version.
The Bass she is using in this video is the Black Smoker Custom 5 string by Black Cloud. A company based in Japan. This bass was made custom for her.

Please check out the live version. Kanami's delay effect is beautifully done, like The Edge from U2 on that version😉

This sounds weirdly naked without Kanami’s delay pedal that she’s using in the live version.
Whether the onset of Onset on set offset by the onset of Onset off set BAND-MAID are always set to deliver killer Hard Rock music :)
AS Chuchill said!!!!!
Yeah! What Gary said..... whatever that was
Yes but are you set?
Not sure if this comment makes me upset or downset 🤔
🤯

I think Kanami has played about 5 different PRS guitars at this point. Before the recent private stock, she was playing an Angry Larry.
Great reaction, great song... But I was waiting for the live version from Zepp Tokyo 2018.😢👍
Thank one coming soon.
Listen to that tone. I love a bass solo!
Live is the best 😊

It's like sitting at the Thanksgiving table and never focusing on one dish long enough to think about eating ! 🦃😆
The band does the jump cuts on purpose so you concentrate on their music, not them.
@@pak40l46 If that is indeed the case... There's no reason to make a video...🤔🤔🤔
You guys, you won't have any complaints about this edit.

The only thing you could've done better is by choosing Onst Live!
Noted!
....we need to give to Band-Maid the torch of Hard Rock so they can carry it for the eternity ......
Hands down, the live version is so much better to watch. I'd recommend you try that for a comparison to this. This is a live band!😊👍😁
Added!
I would say 90 % of the time, if you can find a live version of a song.....play it !!
😏❤️🎙🎸🥁😎🤘
Check out the live version, it's way better!
Kanami's tapping is the vocal line
🤘🤘🤘

I think Misa is playin’ Blacksmoker
Yes, brand is "Black Cloud" and the model is her "Black Smoker"
Yes, by Black Cloud.....

Nice
Live version !
Wow….that’s your first instrumental? You’ve not tasted From Now On, Giovanni (instrumental), Without Holding Back, Don’t Be Long…..?! Dive in!

Thanks for the info!
She has a costume of a PRS? Are there any pictures of her wearing it? Lol
New subscriber. Band-Maid is always better live 🤘
Thank you for watching and subscribing.

The live version from 2020 is the one you want. I’ll give a like when you do that one.
I still appreciate him reacting to the song.
🕊️🌏🌍🌎
Les Paul, Mary Ford and Chet Atkins did tapping quite often in the 1950's.
Les and Chet used tape delay and maybe plucked harmonics, but I haven’t seen either of them tap.
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
😛
Wrong version.
Wrong one
Yes, it has been mentioned that this is the wrong version.
