    0:10 I was wondering why this was sounding like Battletoads. Then I saw the composer.

    The forgotten game composers. Its so easy these days for composers with all the hardware, software and shit. These brilliant 8 bit tunes were all done by code. Very time consuming. I take my hat off to them, rare breed

      So true! I'm talking with a friend online about this very subject right now! David Wise and the Follin brothers were legends among men!

      Not forgotten, it's just that genX and xillenials tend to keep off social media and thus have no pop culture visibility. We're still around and we still play old video games with our kids.

    Came here from Ben Heck. Aaaaaaaah. Didn't even know this existed, but I LIKE the music so much. Never owned or played that game, but the music still brings me back to a place that's long gone..

    Of course David Wise was the composer, the music is the most memorable part of this game.

    Remembered Time Zone 2: Castle Harman (1250) from a rental back in the early 90's, utter sickness for an NES track.

    My Uncle was never able to find the last Orb in the Pirate Ship & I finally found it in that stupid bell years later. I have yet to defeat the Machine Gun Boss in World War 2 level, this game is so tough.

    Once again, I have a special spot for the music in this game too. The music is mainly 8-bit bleeps and bloops, but there are some tunes that are actually ''cool'' and get stuck in your head. But it's a good 'stuck in your head'.

    this game is actually really fun when you know where the orbs are. Finding the orbs back then with no help cept from Nintendo Power which touched Time Lord ONE TIME. Otherwise you had to jump everywhere and swing with abandon and hope for that tune. FOR THOSE ABOUT DEAD MANS GULCH*** if you start top left and diagonal cross the boss you can spam quickly **somehow this game picks up head detection** you have to shoot him in the head and he dies. NOTE***most ppl shoot him for literally an hour strait. dont shoot him in the gut, always criss cross. Hope this helps :D

    • @dragoneye6229
      @dragoneye6229 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +vantendo I remember using Game Genie to give myself unlimited time because I liked how hard it was. You had to explore to find the orbs. I was a strange kid...Either way I sometimes would get lucky and kill the fat Mexican by accidentally hitting him in the head, but mostly he was a boss that took me hours to beat. Did you know there is a rumor that this was supposedly going to be a Doctor Who game? It never even came close to happening due to people just never getting around to it so instead they admitted to DW being the inspiration for the game. I recall reading about this in a game magazine.

    I agree with :-)a ...used to spend hours trying to get past dead man's gulch! But level 2 was always one of my fave songs. Thanks for posting! Love the music from this game...can't say the same for the gameplay.

  • @DesertDragons13

    The boss battle music was always so intimidating, especially with the harder bosses, cause it would play faster and faster all while you're running out of life as you struggle to keep up your fight pattern till who-knows-when the boss was going to die. That and how scary the music was, it felt like your soul was gonna get eaten at any moment. XO

  • @hitmanhatton

    I owned this game. And the music in it was the only thing that kept me from throwing it in the garbage haha. Such a frustrating game. It wasn't that bad I guess. Also the box art is amazing. Looks like such an awesome game. That's why I bought it

      I was super annoyed it had nothing to do with Dr. Who. But after that passed it was a fin fairly simple game with sharp spikes of difficulty for no reason.

    Another David Wise composition I didn't know about. Maybe not his best, but by now I can simply appreciate the Wise-ness of it all lol. My favorite here is the Dora Marie! Name Entry is pretty catchy too.

    Dead Man's gulch can be beaten by spamming the fire button with the revolver. Now, the World War 2 level, that took the difficulty to new heights.

    My childhood memories brought me here. This game always comes to mind every few years. It was a bit of a nightmarish of a game but I stuck it out.
    Come to think of it this was the first game that gave me an eerie feeling and I braved it. I remember how scared I was playing this game in the basement by myself on the medieval stage. When I finally beat the dragon I realized concurring your fears is possible...all at the age of 4.

      Basically you work out after a while that whilst a boss is in it's damage frames it can't hurt you so you can loop them until it dies. This game was a rental for me back in the early 90's and I managed to get as far as the ship.

    • @mwatkins0590
      @mwatkins0590 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ive beaten him once out of like 20 tries getting to him.
      he just has a lot of health, so you have to find a pattern where you don't get hit.

    Mainly started playing it because of the music. Yes I can agree that the game's design was garbage but soundtrack and atmosphere were really awesome. At least for me. That is why I kept playing it and finally even completed it. Ending sucked...

    I know everyone loves David Wise but I don't care for a lot of his work. I much prefer Neil Baldwin, Jeroen Tel, Naoki Kodaka and of course Tim Follin. The only track on this game I like is Time Zones 1 & 6: MB Research Center (2999). I also like some of his Wizards and Warriors and Battletoads stuff. But That's about it. And I don't love any of it like I do the other artists I mentioned.
