- Energy giant Shell has announced plans to exit South Africa after more than 120 years in the country. In a statement released on Monday, Shell says it plans plan to divest its shareholding in Shell Downstream SA and that the decision had not been taken lightly. The statement confirms rumours that had been growing about the future of the company in South Africa.
Recent press reports claim that there have been disputes regarding the separation, between Shell and the Thebe Investment Corporation, which owns more than a quarter of the business. The multinational oil and gas company has its headquarters in London, and has more than 100 000 employees in more than 70 countries.

Every western company divesting from SA is a blessing. Funny how these thieves want to continue looking for oil. Block Shell altogether from SA.
They are tired of the ANC BEE scam

Do you have a brain? Do you just push slogans . Are you incapable of thinking something through without slogans?
@@richardmandulo Stop lying, it's mostly European South Africans that have a problem with BEE. Shell is divesting due to its business problems. I wonder why you are making a mountain out of a mole heap. Shell is going to sell these franchisees as a going concern. Anyone can buy these Petrol station because Shell has their financial statements. You only need an uncle in the banking business. No jobs will be lost.
