"Make like a boulder and roll your arse over" is such an underrated and savage line. She's not only referring to the infamous boulder chase scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark, but also essentially telling him to give up and die (roll over like a dog when it plays dead).
The big bang you can't hide in the fridge from is also a reference to the ridiculously amusing atomic bomb scene in Crystal Skull. Lol. Awesome content Nox, as always.
Now now, we don't wanna assume he missed the reference. Maybe he just didn't want to plug that movie again, cause honestly, despite that one scene, I would wish Indy4 would just vanish into non existence. Lol
“Nuking the fridge” became the new “jumping the shark”. Even if that fridge was lined with lead and could protect him from radiation, he was thrown several hundred feet in the air and came crashing back down. Every bone is his body should have shattered as soon as he hit the ground. Just can’t take anything that happens in that movie seriously after that. I know it’s an action movie and there’s “suspension of disbelief” but that was just ridiculous.
Not gonna explain the missed fridge line since plenty of others already explained it but I will give a bit of context to the Nude Codes line. The rumor of the code in Tomb Raider was proven false but survived so much as an urban legend that the devs actually put said code in Tomb Raider 2. The Catch though was that instead of making her nude, the code actually caused Lara to explode into pieces instead as the Devs' way to basically tell players a Nude Code ain't ever gonna happen lol
Hey Knox, I've always appreciated your breakdowns on erb and just wanted to say that you've also missed atleast one other erb: Lewis and Clarke vs Bill and Ted. I'd highly recommend that one.
This was fun :) To add, definitely not take away you're great information session: -The "No time for love, Dr Jones" was said by Short Round in Temple of Doom -"Chose Poorly" was from Last Crusade for selecting the wrong Holy Grail. Knight gave Indiana Jones and Walter Donovan a choice to select the right grail. The correct one would take life from you while the correct one would give life. Donovan chose the wrong one and age away in seconds, hence, "He chose...poorly." -Big Bang is also a reference to Indy hiding in a fridge (I know, I know....so dumb) from a nuclear explosion in Crystal Skull - Indian Voodoo could be the meal at the Prince's palace that had unusual foods like Monkey Brains, Live Snakes, Giant Beetles, and Eye Soup
A bit further on the "toxic date" line... the poisoned food was actually dates. The "Big Bang you can't hide in a fridge from" also refers to the scene in Crystal Skull where Indy uses an old fridge as shelter to survive a NUKE! Yeah... you might have blocked that out of your memory. Actually... to Bungie's credit... dual wielding pistols happened in their Marathon franchise before it happened in Tomb Raider.
"Even Mutt wants you to quit" refers to the fact that Indy 4 was supposed to hand the franchise over to Mutt (Indy's son) but the critical reception and Shia's public meltdown ended that story arc. "The only thing you are loyal to is a hat, no cap" is referring to the fact that Indy's hat almost never comes off no matter what he goes through and when it does he goes out of his way to get it back or unusual circumstances get it back to him. In Last Crusade, his hat gets blown off when the tank is about to go over a cliff, later the wind blows the hat back into his lap. I think his hat only comes off once or twice a movie and he always gets it back somehow. Speilberg is on record to say this was intentional in Raiders and kept for the future movies
Yeah, it's rare for these battles to be so even. Usually there's a clear winner or at least more noticeable winner. But here they are very even. You could honestly argue that either side one. Personally I give it to Lara currently.
@@michaellarose4913 agreed. They both swung hard. Indy was brutal, but Lara had epic rebuttals and savage disses as well. Such a fantastic even battle, though I gave the slight advantage to Lara. The Marion bar and then the last half of her 2nd verse was the tipping point for me.
A small reference you missed was her pose at the start of her first Verse. In one of the games (i cant recall which) her idle animation is her adjusting her gloves, so her doing that after Indys line is saying she was so bored by his lines that she went into her idle animation
This is why I love your reactions not only do you address both word play, music and video but you also explain the bars to those of us who aren't gamers so we can enjoy the bar also. Thank you!
Idk if anyone else mentioned it, but the visual of Lara messing with her gloves before her first line is her idle animation, so likely a dig at her being bored from Indy's verse.
Shout out to the man who understood the “toxic date” line. Everyone else I’ve heard thinks it’s about the chilled monkey brains. It’s been driving me nuts lol
You are hands down one of the best and my personal favorite ERB reaction channel. I’ve seen plenty of channels already and they are off with their reactions because they don’t get half the references.
The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular is actually at Disney's Hollywood Studios, in Walt Disney World. But since it was basically designed to open before Universal Studios Florida and serve as a similar substitute for it, I don't blame you for mixing them up.
This was a funny reaction lol. Thanks for making me laugh with the commentary, your humor is the best! Also, I believe you missed the "hide in the fridge from" from Croft (i don't blame ya, the forth movie could have been a lot better). Indiana ended up in a nuclear testing site when they were testing a nuclear bomb. He had to hide in a lead lined fridge to hide from the blast. This was in the beginning of the forth movie if i remember right, i only saw it like two times in total and my movie memory is usually pretty good
Ha, this was great. I was gonna mention about Core design thinking "yes I actually know something" but I'm last to the party ofc haha! Knox if you don't mind the request, I'd love if you could do a breakdown of Jin's (from BTS) new track. It's wonderful, quite sad in the context of things, and very layered. I personally thought a lot of the instrument led parts were unusual for this type of soft rock sound, for example, the way the drums are used is more typical with metal but it still sort of fits. I'm rambling but would just love to hear your musical analysis! 2nd collab with Coldplay and I'm loving this very wholesome friendship they have. There's lots of metaphors and things to pick out in the mv and lyrics, so I'm sure you'd enjoy!
Yo Knox bro! Did you catch that line by Lara, “ You tried alien skull and chose poorly”? That’s a shout out to the Last Crusade - when the Knight comments on the disintegrating Walter Donovan who drank from the wrong grail, “he chose poorly”! Very nice wordplay! 😊😊😊
The only bar that I haven't seen someone catch yet is the "when they designed your CORE" line since the original makers of Tomb Raider were Core Design
Great reaction, love how knowleadgeable you are about things :D Though thing that seem to be missed by everyone, Tomb Raider was made by "Core design" hence the pun.
Soooooo happy to see this. When i saw the new ERB, i was impatiently waiting for your breakdown. I always love your reaction and breakdown for these videos and have missed them. If you havent already, id recommend reacting to ERB's Flash in the Pan Hip Hop Conflicts of Nowadays on their ERB2 channel. They were rap battles they recorded that never got made into full videos; there's no costumes or crazy special effects but still fun battles with lyrics that would be interesting to see you break down. Cant wait to see your next video Knox.
You saying nostalgia gave me an idea, but what if you made a weekly or monthly series called Knoxstalgia where you talk about some of the OGs of Hip Hop that inspired you or at least shedding some light on some slept on masters of the craft from back in the day
And this is why we turn to Knox Hill for reactions and breakdowns. He knows something about everything and catches every reference, metaphor, allusion, and double entendre. The skill is immeasurable! I learn so much from these videos.
The line about Crash Bandicoot is about an Easter Egg that has the Croft's supposed plane in it crashed somewhere. The line regarding Polygons gon wild could also be a jab at her Playboy issue she did.
The "Hide in a fridge from" line was also regarding the scene from Kingdom of the Crystal Skull where he survived a nuke (big bang) by hiding in a fridge.
A detail about Lara here: Her "fixing" her gloves before her verse is her idle animation, when she's not doing something in games.. so basically showing that she's bored with Indiana's verse.
Loved the reaction, one of the only reactors who can explain all the references that flew over my head because I never actually watched raiders, never a fan, much needed context to understand more of the lines. Overall I think Lara killed it with the rapping skill too, gotta love the rapid fire punches
I like that you stick to your guns and pause as much as you want. Good on you that is what a reaction channel is all about seeing what people think of all these amazing videos.
The line with Crash Bandicoot is that the game Crash Bandicoot outsold Tomb Raider. Also the line when they designed your core is a ref to the original dev's who made Tomb Raider and Lara, Core Design. Shortround was from Temple of Doom. Also Junior is what Indy's Dad (Sean Connery) called Indy in The Last Crusade. I would mention the fridge but I bet a lot of people have mentioned that.
ERB is back yes!! Thank YOU Knox, can't wait to watch. Now just silently hoping for the return of BTS to the channel one day and life has resumed it's peaceful balance xDD

Love your reaction/breakdown as always. I knew this one was gonna be so much fun with all the references they made. As for other ERBs, I'd LOVE to see you tackle Julius Caesar vs Shaka Zulu.
Can I just recommend Scroobius pip vs Dan Le sac - Stunner. That said, basically every song that man has written is a lyrical masterpiece. Introdiction by pip would be awesome aswell.
This is one that I actual got nearly all the bars since I am so familiar with both series' lore. Only a few lines I didn't know about. Laura: "You tried alien skulls and chose poorly" - "chose poorly" referencing The Last Crusade and the Holy Grail. Indy: "belongs in a museum!" Line was said twice in Last Crusade, once as a kid in the beginning part of the movie, then later on as an adult to the same guy stealing the Cross of Coronado from Indy. Laura: "on short Round and pump the brakes" in that chase scene, Short Round realized the brakes went out when pumping them.
You missed a meaning for "There's a Big Bang you can't hide in the fridge from" referring to the absolute stupidity of Indiana surviving a Nuke by hiding in a fridge in "Crystal Skull"
Crash Bandicoot is from the Naughty Dog Game Company. Naughty Dog is also the Company that made Uncharted. Both Crash and Uncharted is based on Jungle survival. You can also play Crash on Uncharted 4.
The two cases of when you said "No, TMI" were hilarious. Good catching yourself before you siad something you couldn't take back. True comedy. Also, great job overall, you are by far my favorite reactor for erb here on TH-cam. Such in-depth descriptions of both the references, the bars, and just the general beat. Very much in depth and helpful. Thank you.
Funny story: I went to one of the Circuit City locations when they were closing and they had discounted Blu Rays. There was an entire section of Crystal Skull Blu Rays still on the shelf. The movie discounted to 5 bucks and NO ONE wanted it.
When I saw erb came out with a new battle I was so looking forward to your reaction. Erb also said there will be another battle coming out before the end of the year so be on the lookout for that!
I might be a bit late but you pausing to explain the little details is allot better than some of the reaction video from different youtubers where they just go "ooooh", "oh that was nasty", and "now that's funny" so cheers to ya man
It was a very very close battle, but towards the end i think the disses became very hurt felt from lara, so personally i would give it to indiana just marginally purely just because his verses were very to the point and very directed towards lara and seem to be more hard hitting, Even though lara did have some very good disses , i think on the research front indiana did much more homework in this battle.
Dude, you missed the chose poorly bar referencing the picking of the holy grail in the last crusade.. but basically hit every single other.. amazing break down
I know for a fact that you will be featured in one of the future battles. No one can breakdown ERB like you Knox. Specially those multiple meaning bars.
Love your reactions Knox, would love to see you break down some REM songs, no specific one, I think they're a very underrated band, and Ik if anyone could shine some light on them it's you
Lara won that pretty handily IMO. She had good rebuttals for a lot of Indie's hardest hitting disses. The first verse felt like Indie was basically just flexing "I've got the signature look, and the badass theme song etc." and Lara just went "Yeah, but you bit the look from Charlton Heston and the theme song is not your accomplishment, it's John Williams'." She flipped a lot of the things he used against her. This was a very good battle, I liked it.
ok but that's not what she did it was also closer then you say her bar does not at all come off or mean she was saying the theme song is not your accomplishment, it's John Williams legit it was only that he the one who wrote it but no one who hears it thinks John Williams when they hear that song they think Indiana Jones and theme songs are meant for that and theme song is only memorable if its a catchy good song and if the character it was made for is well written and memorable and wile i know Laura i dont know of any theme songs she may have point being the Iconic Theme is still attributed to Indiana cause without him it would not be as famous also how was first first "just Flexing" most of it was genuine disses at Laura and good ones at that and some he disses his self wile saying she even worse then he is which.. the opposite of a flex he also latter points out parts of her where strait up copied from himself as Knox says everyone is biting off of everyone els welcome to the world of art

Me and my buddies do "Theme song trivia" where I try to get them to remember themes of movies, games, and shows. That would be a better example than charades.
I like the Dinosaurs Belong in a Museum Line as a rebuttal because she's calling him old and that he's washed up. He's a dinosaur trying to stay relevant. But where do Dinosaurs go? The Museum. So, he's right there he belongs :V.
The "full course of Indian Voodoo" was referring to the Kali MA cult in the second movie as well as the full course meal the night before where they were served snaked, beetles, and chilled monkey brains.
I have a request for you, please react to these videos in order: 'Shutdown' by BlackPink 'Paganini reacts to shutdown' by TwoSet Violin (just for context for the next one) 'Sell Out - Paganini' by TwoSet Violin (kind of a diss track-parody of ShutDown) I have to warn you though, this can be highly controversial, so I understand if you choose not to do it. But it's always a good experience to hear your perspective on songs like these Knox!
My Maryland brother. You are hands down the BEST reactor to ERB. Also, Tomb Raider on N64...I feel you, because..well...same. You should've checked the sponsor bit for 2 reasons. 1) it's actually pretty dope. 2) for like half a second there's a sneak to the next ERB.

You missed a meaning for "There's a Big Bang you can't hide in the fridge from" referring to the absolute stupidity of Indiana surviving a Nuke by hiding in a fridge in "Crystal Skull"
Indiana Jones, TombRaider and Uncharted are just part of my youth, I LOVE this song!
“Big bang you can’t hide in the fridge from” is also a reference to the scene Jones takes shelter in a refrigerator in “nuke town” when it goes off
Crash Bandicoot is from the Naughty Dog Game Company. Naughty Dog is also the Company that made Uncharted. Both Crash and Uncharted is based on Jungle survival. You can also play Crash on Uncharted 4.
The Crash B. game had a Tomb Raider inspired level called Tomb Wader.
@@RikFTK not to mention Crash has many levels where he runs away from a bolder, an Indi refference.
Lara was great but i think Indiana absolutely killed it, his wordplay, style and bars as a whole were fire
I also think Lara had more filler lines
The two cases of when you said "No, TMI" were hilarious. Good catching yourself before you siad something you couldn't take back. True comedy.
Also, great job overall, you are by far my favorite reactor for erb here on TH-cam. Such in-depth descriptions of both the references, the bars, and just the general beat. Very much in depth and helpful. Thank you.
Short Round was from Temple of Doom my brotha in Christ. Btw the actor that played him had a reunion recently with Harrison Ford after 38 years. XD
Everyone who gets mad about aliens in Indiana Jones forgets the ripping beating hearts out of people’s chests and most of Temple of Doom.
i assume the "kid youve got a tragic history with crashes" is also a reference to multiple tomb raider games having horrible startup crash issues
This might be only the second time in an ERB where the entire intro wasn’t said. Steve Jobs v Bill Gates had Jobs jumping in before they said his name
The trump and biden battle was also interrupted mid announcement
@@kingclint2382 Oh right!! Nice catch
Funny story: I went to one of the Circuit City locations when they were closing and they had discounted Blu Rays. There was an entire section of Crystal Skull Blu Rays still on the shelf. The movie discounted to 5 bucks and NO ONE wanted it.
The Indiana Jones show is at Hollywood Studios (formerly MGM Studios) at Disney World. Still fun though. :)
The short round line was the temple of doom, I got that straight away when you paused
When I saw erb came out with a new battle I was so looking forward to your reaction. Erb also said there will be another battle coming out before the end of the year so be on the lookout for that!
You set a proper example for what a "reaction" video is. Unlike most- nobody could claim this is non-transformative. Keep looking good
The Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular show is at Disney World not Universal, but it is a fantastic show.
Nice to see the ERB reactions back
She goes through 3 costume changes to symbolize everytime she was made by a different dev
Love the reaction also i think when Indiana said tap the X he was referring to a QTE (Quick Time Event) cuz if you miss the QTE well bad things happen
Big Bang your can’t hide in the fridge from. Refers to the infamous “hiding in the refrigerator from a nuclear blast” scene
I love how you sound so excited through this 😂
Love your reactions Knox, would love to see you break down some REM songs, no specific one, I think they're a very underrated band, and Ik if anyone could shine some light on them it's you
"i guess you couldnt tap that x in time"
really, no one's going to talk about how smooth that was delivered?
at the end of the video, there is godzilla around nuclear powerplants, if they make godzilla vs king kong i will freak out
Lara won that pretty handily IMO. This was a very good battle, I liked it.
ok but that's not what she did
it was also closer then you say
her bar does not at all come off or mean she was saying the theme song is not your accomplishment, it's John Williams legit it was only that he the one who wrote it but no one who hears it thinks John Williams when they hear that song they think Indiana Jones and theme songs are meant for that and theme song is only memorable if its a catchy good song and if the character it was made for is well written and memorable
and wile i know Laura i dont know of any theme songs she may have point being the Iconic Theme is still attributed to Indiana cause without him it would not be as famous
also how was first first "just Flexing" most of it was genuine disses at Laura and good ones at that
and some he disses his self wile saying she even worse then he is which.. the opposite of a flex
he also latter points out parts of her where strait up copied from himself as Knox says everyone is biting off of everyone els welcome to the world of art
@@reddragon9064 punctuate dude lol
@@Killerbee4712 this is a TH-cam comment section it wont be hard to find worse comments then mine cause no one cares
ty grammar police for your pointless comment
what's next telling twitter to not send death threats to someone for not liking there favorite color
@@reddragon9064 if youre trying to make a point, it would be nice if it were intelligble. The situation in which you write in is no excuse for lack of cohesion
@@reddragon9064 You should feel lucky anyone gives a damn. Too often does ignorance fuel incompetence.
YEEESSSS!! THE PROFESSOR HAS ARRIVED!!
Also, first... Or I guess second, to myself
That ex-boyfriend Chase Carver? He unfortunately died on one of the adventures!
You know in reaction videos I generally skip through the pauses. Yours on the other hand I like to hear your break down when you pause I have learned a lot from you man great job on that
Me and my buddies do "Theme song trivia" where I try to get them to remember themes of movies, games, and shows. That would be a better example than charades.
For the big bang line also is the big bang of the nuclear bomb that went off. When Lara says chose poorly also really famous Indiana Jones line.
I like the Dinosaurs Belong in a Museum Line as a rebuttal because she's calling him old and that he's washed up. He's a dinosaur trying to stay relevant. But where do Dinosaurs go?
The Museum. So, he's right there he belongs :V.
Charlton Heston quote: "I'll give you my gun when you pry (or take) it from my cold, dead hands"
Bro you’re gonna have to hop back on the Quadeca train for Tell Me A Joke. Fucking incredible song.
Thanks for the great reactions. This is definitely one of the best battles that ERB has ever done.
The "full course of Indian Voodoo" was referring to the Kali MA cult in the second movie as well as the full course meal the night before where they were served snaked, beetles, and chilled monkey brains.
I have a request for you, please react to these videos in order:
'Shutdown' by BlackPink
'Paganini reacts to shutdown' by TwoSet Violin (just for context for the next one)
'Sell Out - Paganini' by TwoSet Violin (kind of a diss track-parody of ShutDown)
I have to warn you though, this can be highly controversial, so I understand if you choose not to do it. But it's always a good experience to hear your perspective on songs like these Knox!
16:39 "big bang you can't hide in the fridge from" is also referencing 'crystal skull' where Indy hides in a fridge to escape a nuke test.
I love these ERB lol some of them are 🔥 af! I prefer to watch your breakdowns before watching the og videos if I haven't previously seen em. 🤘
Thanks for that reaction, man, you caught way more references than any other youtuber who reacted to that battle
Fun fact: Booby trap spelled backwards is party boob.
Also bandicoots are not rodents they are marsupials
you missed the fridge line, during a nuke test indy hid in a fridge to save himself from the blast, aka big bang :D
Once again. Requesting you react to some of Zach Sherwin's solo stuff. His playlist of songs you need to see the video for is great.
Great job as always ☺️ . It'd be great to see you try the UK version ' Fire in the Spoof ' . My faves are the Flintstones and Simpsons
knox wins reactions ... u caught every reference. ive probably watched 30 of these and you are only one that caught everything. CONGRATS
I think the flattened bar refers to the rebooted game where the new protagonist doesn't have such large assets
Also in the video game you press x to doubt. It's a pretty old meme now. Like people would post it under someone's post trying to call them out.
