    Excellent presentation Denise - great camerawork Corey! That little unit is very nice! Being a person who likes to cook, that counter space opposite the galley, is just PERFECT for me! I’ve been a Roadtrek owner for decades now, so I’m used to small spaces, but to tell you the truth, that trailer at 16ft, looks bigger inside than my 19ft Class B! I like this unit A LOT...great job as always on this video you two 👍🏼👌🏼👏🏼

      Awesome, so glad you liked it. We did have some challenges after using it for 2wks. Like making up the bed was more difficult then you would expect and it started to make us think the other floor plan with the made up bed may be better but then you would loose that counter and storage but you would have a table top so???? I just don't know both would be good for different reasons but it did seem airy and spacious. Glad you liked the video, thanks for watching.

    Regarding the awning, there are pull down metal arms that you can pull down, if more stability is desired.

      Good to know I think that is a standard feature on the manual Airstream awnings. We did not notice it as an option on this one while we used it but it may have been. Worth looking for though. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.

    • @DoesSizeMatter
      @DoesSizeMatter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you liked it. At the time this Airstream Nest was a rental for us so it didn't come with a retail price but new, in Canada it would go for around $60,000. But Airstream has stopped producing it so you would most likely be looking at a used one now. It was very cool, light and we liked it but check out our pros and cons video on it for more info. th-cam.com/video/cca3_Zr4GzQ/w-d-xo.html There are other similarly built trailers out there and we are hoping to review some asap but you know... restrictions are getting in the way at the moment. Hint, hint... The Escape trailer is in our future. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

    Lovely looking caravan. It looks like a great beginner caravan for someone just starting out, who doesn't need or want a behemoth caravan to tow, if you have a small truck, or early Toyota Tacoma truck to tow it with. Or if you're looking to downsize to a smaller caravan. :)

    With an electric only fridge and freezer one is forced to stay at RV parks where there is electricity provided. No staying in federal or state forests or parks or beaches or other off-the-grid locations. If KOA is what you want then great but it is terrible for those who prefer to "camp".
    Briefly alluded to is the small bed area. Most of the time a camper manufacturer will state that one of their campers sleeps 4 and what it really means is two adults and two children under the height of 5'5". The Airstream Nest appears to only sleep 2 short adults. It does show how limiting a 16 foot trailer can be and why going to a 18 or 20 foot provides great deal of improvement in available space, including the option of a dry bath.

    • @DoesSizeMatter
      @DoesSizeMatter  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, the 12V fridge operates off of the batteries and does so quite efficiently. So it totally allows you to camp outside of RV Parks if you choose. But you would still need a means of charging the batteries. For us in the Nest we were on the road every couple of days so charging was never a problem and in the 12 days we used it we were on plugged into power once. The other option is to have solar charging capability. The bed was actually quite large but rather difficult to put together and yes the nest is for 2 only but they don't advertise it as anything other than that. The 16' trailer itself was not that limiting, but you are right the larger you go the more space and the more amenities you get as well as the heavier it is and the more expensive it is. We do prefer a dry bath but for many folks their priorities are keeping the trailer small and they aren't worried about the wet bath which makes the Nest a great choice. Check out our pros and cons video for more info on the Nest and how we managed in the smaller space. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and watching.

    Nothing is perfect, but if you are not doing gel coating right - that is a HUGE issue. I was looking at the nest but the AirForums posts on the Nest and the SIGNIFICANT issues has me scared. When they replace entire trailers - there is a serious quality issue. It appears this was true especially of the newer units. I don't know if it is better but the Oliver seems to have a very loyal following - about the same price and they don't seem plagued with gel coat issues. And I really don't think Airstream is taking care of all the owners - newer reports show they may not be satisfactorily addressing the issues.

    • @DoesSizeMatter
      @DoesSizeMatter  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts. In my research I did not find issues regarding gel coat but if you would like to send me your resources it would be helpful for us. You can send it to doessizematter99@gmail.com I have heard of the Oliver but have not researched it so I can't speak to that. I think anywhere you look regarding any manufacturer you will find someone with a negative experience so I take those with a grain of salt and look more for trends, which I have not seen for airstream, but again I am always interested in more credible resources. Thanks for watching.

    • @pda4you
      @pda4you 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DoesSizeMatter I sent you the links in email. I know the Basecamp is plagued with issues as well. Airstream isn't what they used to be at least that appears to be the case. I know some users just want to grind an axe but I would be very concerned about gel coat issues since they really can't be fixed. Good luck!

      @DoesSizeMatter  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, it is actually quite expensive for it's size because of it's fibreglass monocoque build that is hand made and the superior materials used in other finishings. Then there is always the reputation and name that goes with an Airstream product. It seemed big inside because of the big windows and light interior. Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching.

    Great review. Always a nice thorough walk through. Just curious why they put the gas tank in front of the battery? If it was reversed, it looks like you could easily fit 2 tanks in there, since tank levels are rarely accurate and you run out on the coldest night.

    • @DoesSizeMatter
      @DoesSizeMatter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you liked it. We do agree that having one propane tank is a pain and yes we have run out before. The thing is all trailers have their batteries and propane tanks configured this way so it make us wonder if there is a specific reason it is done??? We don't have that answer and will ask around but maybe someone else can chime in here and tell us. Thanks for bringing it up and for watching.

  • @patd4u2
    @patd4u2 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I wonder what Airstream was thinking when they designed this trailer? It looks to be designed for a person at least six foot tall, as you demonstrated how are you suppose to access the freezer when you are lets say 5'5"? and that cabinet above the stove is useless for shorter people. they need to go back and re-design the layout.
    They priced this trailer in the neighbor hood of the Fiberglass Oliver trailer which has a far superior floor plan.

    • @DoesSizeMatter
      @DoesSizeMatter  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for sharing your opinion but we must remember that there is a RV out there for everyone. There for sure isn't one that will suit everybody. That is the fun part of doing rv reviews, we get to share them from our perspective but others can still see that this may be the trailer for them and that is great. As I mentioned earlier, I have not done any research on the Oliver, so I can't speak to that, but I will have to check it out. Thanks for watching.

      The height of the chassis is perfectly fine for road trips. We took it on a 3500km road trip and had absolutely no problems with it. The Nest would not be considered an off-road trailer though. Thanks for watching.

  • @JAnn319

    I disagree about the chassis....weight rests on it. if its weak... things will break faster.
    Low rig.... 🤔 hmmm

    • @DoesSizeMatter
      @DoesSizeMatter  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We agree the chassis is always important and does need to be able to handle the weight that it carries but what we are explaining here is that the type of structure (semi monoquoque shell) is what provides the actual strength to the housing of the RV, not the chassis. As for the height from the ground to the base we did find it to be lower than what we liked but we have found other manufacturers can be the same so it really depends more on how you plan to use the RV. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

      Yes in front of the tires is a better place but I guess the way floor plans are being made these days has manufacturers putting the connections behind the wheels as that is where we see them most of the time.
